Harry Potter: Journey to Godhood

Chapter 457: Chapter 457: Alliance Intentions

The subsequent proceedings were straightforward. The high elf mages first examined Garona's blood and confirmed that she too was affected by fel energy.

Following Alaric's request, Garona narrated—before the Silvermoon Council—how Gul'dan had manipulated the Horde into drinking the so-called "gift of demons," the corrupted blood of Mannoroth, the Abyssal Lord.

Of course, Garona was not Gul'dan and could not fully grasp the composition of the corrupted blood.

However, based on her description, even the high elf mages, who were unfamiliar with the specifics, could tell something was amiss.

A potent green liquid that, once consumed, turned the drinker's skin from red to green, twisted their bodies, significantly boosted their strength, and made them bloodthirsty and warlike—it was obvious that this substance was deeply problematic.

Seeing the high elves lost in thought, Alaric presented the final piece of evidence to support his claims.

"As far as I know, the high elf mages of Quel'Thalas once collaborated with Dalaran mages to establish a secret organization in Tirisfal Glades called the Council of Tirisfal, tasked with creating Guardians to combat demons. I wonder if this is true."

The members of the Silvermoon Council exchanged uncertain glances, unsure how to respond to Alaric's inquiry.

As previously mentioned, the Kirin Tor Council of Dalaran was initially established to handle mundane matters for the Council of Tirisfal and to gather magical knowledge worldwide, thus enhancing the latter's power. For the most part, the existence of the Council of Tirisfal was a secret within Dalaran.

However, the situation was different for the high elves.

Human awareness and vigilance toward demons originally stemmed from warnings by the high elves.

Among the two races, the high elves were far more proactive in combating demons.

Hence, the formation of the Council of Tirisfal was a semi-official act of Quel'Thalas, with the Silvermoon Council and the Sunstrider royal family aware of its existence.

In fact, most of the councilors present had personally experienced the establishment of the Council of Tirisfal, given their positions in Quel'Thalas' leadership at the time.

When the name "Council of Tirisfal" was brought up by a Dalaran mage who should have had no knowledge of it, the high elves were at a loss for how to respond.

They couldn't discern whether the Kirin Tor Council knew everything, whether this was merely a probing question, or if only the mage before them was privy to this secret while Dalaran itself was uninvolved.

Seeing their hesitation, Alaric revealed more information.

"In fact, I came to learn of all this through the current Guardian, Medivh, and his mother, Aegwynn," Alaric explained.

"If you've monitored the magical ley lines of Azeroth, you might have detected the incident at Karazhan. Karazhan was destroyed, and the surrounding area was tainted by fel energy."

Anasterian turned to one of his royal mages, responsible for monitoring the Sunwell and magical ley lines. The mage stepped forward and whispered into his ear, confirming Alaric's statements.

"Why wasn't I informed of this earlier?!" Anasterian growled angrily.

"Sire, I apologize," the royal mage stammered nervously. "Dalaran is far from Quel'Thalas, and the Sunwell's arcane energy forms an independent system. Changes in the ley lines there have minimal impact on Quel'Thalas. I thought..."

Anasterian looked as if he wanted to continue reprimanding the mage but suddenly seemed to have a realization. His tone softened.

"It's partly our fault for being so inattentive to events outside Quel'Thalas," he sighed. Turning to Alaric, he added, "Archmage Sandor, it appears you indeed possess knowledge we lack.

I must apologize for previously concealing the existence of the Council of Tirisfal. I must admit that Quel'Thalas did participate in its founding.

However, please believe me when I say that the Council of Tirisfal is now nearly defunct. Almost all its members have perished in various incidents, and we are still investigating the matter."

"Oh, I fully believe the Council of Tirisfal has been eradicated," Alaric replied, causing a stir among the Silvermoon Council members. "In fact, I even know the culprit behind it all."

The high elves were astonished. They had been investigating the cause of the Council of Tirisfal's downfall for some time but had found no leads.

Now, just as they were about to give up, the truth was handed to them so effortlessly.

Alaric then unveiled the conspiracy of Sargeras, how the Dark Portal was opened, and how Sargeras was ultimately slain once more.

To the high elves, Alaric's story sounded absurd and nearly unbelievable.

They could not fathom that the powerful Guardian could be manipulated by the Demon King, nor could they accept that such a formidable being as Sargeras could be killed by mere mortals.

It was only when Alaric mentioned names like Aegwynn and the three guardian dragons—Talonixa, Alexstrasza, and Ysera—that they began to believe him.

The legendary Guardian Aegwynn and the dragon queens Talonixa, Alexstrasza, and Ysera—these names and their deeds were not widely known, nor could they be fabricated by just anyone.

Claiming such names falsely would be courting death, especially when the claimant was not some insignificant figure but an archmage deeply involved in matters of national and racial significance.

If Alaric's account were true, it raised profound questions about the orcs' very purpose.

The Silvermoon Council engaged in another round of intense debate.

This time, however, they reached a consensus quickly.

"Archmage Sandor," Anasterian declared solemnly, "Quel'Thalas will conduct a deeper investigation into the potential connection between the orcs and demons.

However, I can promise you this: if our findings confirm the link, Quel'Thalas will join the Alliance and provide significant support.

That said, for the sake of my people's safety, our aid will primarily consist of mages, as they are the most effective against demonic forces. As for our armies, we cannot afford to send more troops."

Anasterian's decision was within Alaric's expectations. After all, demons had always been a problem caused by mages.

Moreover, Anasterian had a clear understanding of the orcs' combat prowess. If the high elf armies were to confront the orcish horde outside Quel'Thalas, the losses could be devastating.

Still, the situation was far better than in the original timeline.

This time, the high elves would not wait until the orcs were at their doorstep to join the Alliance in fury.

Nor would they, as in the original timeline, provide only a token force of a few hundred troops. Compared to ordinary soldiers, the mages' support was far more critical to the Alliance.

After all, the humans already had sufficient numbers, and additional armies would not bring a fundamental transformation to their strength.
