Chapter 22: Careless Friendship
Kyle raised his head and looked in the direction of Cedric's finger, only to find that Connor was sitting on the left side opposite him, cutting steak.
But every time she cut it, she looked up at Kyle as if what was on the plate was not steak but Kyle.
This scene gave him a toothache.
"Wait, why do I feel that her eyes are not very friendly, but she was clearly not like this on the train." Cedric asked curiously. "I remember that the freshmen were all together before the sorting. Did anything happen to you during this period?"
"It's really my fault." Kyle shrugged and briefly recounted what happened in the room.
After hearing this, Cedric felt numb.
Sorted with a Killing Curse? How the hell can a normal person think of this?
"Did she believe it?" Cedric asked cautiously.
Kyle said with a grimace. "If she didn't believe it, would she look at me like this?"
This is really something one dares to say, and one dares to believe.
Cedric twitched the corner of his mouth, and for a moment, he didn't know what to say. He could only look at Kanna and then Kyle with a speechless expression, then silently extended a thumbs up and said.
"Really Kyle, you two are a match made in heaven." (っ◔◡◔)っ
"I'm only eleven years old. Are you so anxious to go to Azkaban?" Kyle said angrily. "And I advise you not to say that in the future. If Professor Snape hears it, you will Ruined."
"She knows Professor Snape?" Cedric asked in surprise.
Kyle nodded and said. "Although I'm not sure, I think she know him."
"..."
Cedric's expression suddenly changed. He stared at Kyle with a look that looked like a scumbag and said. "You are too much. How could you make such a nasty joke with a freshman? If I were a prefect, I would definitely decrease your points."
Kyle looked at Cedric in disbelief, as if he had just met him.
After hearing that Connor and Snape knew each other, Cedric immediately switched sides. This change of attitude was too fast.
Is this really the Cedric he knows?
However, facing Kyle's gaze, Cedric's expression remained unchanged, and he even took the initiative to move his butt to the side as if he wanted to draw a clear line with Kyle.
Kyle could only silently raise his middle finger.
Kyle was careless in making friends. He really doesn't know who Cedric learned this from. Why did Cedric become so shameless after not seeing each other for a while?
But in this situation, it is impossible to eat in peace of mind.
Kyle simply put down his knife and fork and raised his head to look at Kanna.
The little witch didn't dodge and just looked at Kyle. Her round face was bulging, and she didn't know whether she was chewing the steak in her mouth or because she was angry.
Neither of them spoke, and they just looked at each other indifferently at the opening banquet, as if they were in a competition where whoever bows his head first loses.
Naturally, neither Kyle nor Kanna wanted to admit defeat. They were both determined at the beginning as if they wanted to continue this game forever.
However, Kanna obviously overestimated herself.
Soon, her eyes began to wander, and her originally fair face also gained a touch of bright red.
After a few more seconds... his eyes began to dodge, his breathing became much faster, and his whole face turned red.
Finally, Kanna couldn't hold it any longer and quickly lowered her head, with the tip of her nose pressed against the steak, as if she was burying herself in the plate, with only two red ears exposed.
…
Kanna's personality has not changed. She is still as shy and socially fearful as before. The way Kanna looked just now was just because she was angry after finding out that she had been deceived, and she was a little angry.
It's like a girl who is usually peaceful and quiet. Still, after being cheated in her favorite game, she will slap her keyboard.
In addition, Kyle had been avoiding her and running away so that she had nowhere to vent the anger she was holding in her heart, and this continued until now.
When that aura dissipated, she naturally turned back into the shy and fearful little witch she had been before.
And Kyle looked at her, which was equivalent to giving her a way to vent.
It's just that Kyle didn't expect her anger to dissipate so quickly, and she was fine after only a few minutes. This personality was really a bit too good.
Ginny's character was considered good among the people Kyle knew, but even if she were angry, she would have to argue face-to-face with Kyle for at least half an hour.
In comparison, Kanna is too weak, and her character is not a good thing in the Wizarding World.
It was okay when she was at Hogwarts. Hufflepuff was famous for being honest and friendly, and basically, no one had any bad intentions.
But if it's still like this after graduation, then Kanna probably doesn't know how she died.
Grogenstein, a famous minister of the Ministry of Magic, once said that Hogwarts is a fairy tale in the wizarding world. Once you leave this castle, there is only a devouring abyss in front of you.
In the eyes of those dark wizards who are wandering on the edge of death, there is no difference between a shy and introverted pure-blood family witch and a walking sum of Galleons. They would swarm her like hyenas until there was no bone left.
Kyle is not exaggerating. There are precedents, such as the disappearance of pure-blood families.
After Voldemort fell, the Death Eaters lost their backers and began to hide everywhere.
The pure-blood families in the entire British magic world were in chaos.
The hyenas hiding in the dark saw this opportunity and attacked these pure-blood families who were in disarray.
They kidnapped and extorted or used the Cruciatus Curse to force useful information. In short, any pure-blood wizard who was alone became their prey.
And they don't care how big your family is, how strong it is, or whether you will retaliate in the future.
As long as it is profitable and there is no monster like Dumbledore or Voldemort in the target family, they dare to pounce on it and bite off a piece of meat.
It can be said that during that period, more pure-blood wizards died in their hands than Death Eaters caught by the Ministry of Magic.
Many families began to decline and gradually disappeared.
This situation continued until most of the Death Eaters were caught, and the Aurors and strikers turned their attention to them.
It was like this back then, and it is no exception now.
Kyle glanced at Kanna, who was pretending to be an ostrich. After a moment of silence, he calmly took the black pepper next to him, sprinkled it on the cut potato cubes, and put it into his mouth.
Forget it. We are only in the first year now, and it's still a long way to graduation. Why think about these things? It's more important to fill the stomach first.
