Chapter 1: Magical Magic
In a three-story building near the village of Ottery-St. Catchpole.
Eleven-year-old Kyle Chopper stood at the window, looking carefully at the parchment in his hand.
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Order of Merlin, First Class, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards)
Dear Mr. Chopper
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted for admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enclosed is a list of required books and items.
The term begins on September 1st. We expect your reply by owl by July 31st.
Sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, Headmistress (Female)
...
Yes, this is the acceptance letter from Hogwarts.
Since he traveled here eleven years ago, Kyle has been waiting for this day.
As for why he is so sure, it is simply because several other unique families live not far away next door.
Among them, Kyle is most familiar with the Lovegood family, the editor-in-chief of The Quibbler, and the Weasley family.
Especially in the latter, the extremely strange building and the red hair of the whole family make Kyle immediately determine what world this is.
It is worth mentioning that the fact that Kyle can live here also shows that he comes from a wizarding family in this life.
His father, Chris Chopper, works for the Ministry of Magic as Deputy Director of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, sometimes known as the Department of Magical Creature Regulation. He is also a renowned Magizoologist, one of Newt Scamander's few students, thanks to his family's talent for communicating with Magical Creatures.
His mother, Diana, is also in the Ministry of Magic but in the Department of Mysteries. Still, Kyle doesn't know what she does exactly. He has also tried various methods to infer this, but all have failed. Obviously, his parents' sense of confidentiality is quite strong, and no news has been revealed.
Family situation... Well, since there are no prominent figures among his ancestors, it can only be described as mediocre, far worse than those famous surnames like Dumbledore, Grindelwald, and the like.
But even so, Kyle was very pleased. At least his parents were wizards, so there would be no problem for him to get into Hogwarts.
Unless he was a Squib.
This was denied him after his first magical outburst when he was three years old.
Although he had known this day would come, when the owl actually pecked open the window of his room with the envelope, Kyle was so excited that he almost jumped up.
He held the parchment like a treasure and would not let go of it, even when he slept, looking at it from time to time.
...
"My dear, you have been reading and rereading the acceptance letter for three days. Can you put it down? I promise you it is absolutely true!"
Chris looked at his son, who was laughing helplessly again and couldn't help but remind him, "Don't forget, we have an appointment with the Weasley family next door to go to Diagon Alley together today. Don't keep them waiting."
"Okay, Dad, I'll be there soon."
Kyle hurriedly put away the Hogwarts admission letter he had read countless times, stood up quickly, and knocked on a wooden stake beside him, "Groot, I'm leaving."
As soon as he finished speaking, a little green guy jumped out and waved at Kyle.
Kyle's family has Magical creatures, but not many. Besides this Bowtruckle named Groot, there is also a Kneazle named Tom.
Although Chris is the Deputy Director of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, it is easy for him to raise more than ten or twenty Magical Creatures, but he did not do so. And even Groot and Tom stay because they refuse to leave.
It's not that Chris doesn't like Magical Creatures, but he thinks that so-called Magical Creatures shouldn't stay with wizards.
Those that are kept around can only be called pets.
This middle-aged gentleman, who has always been gentle and known as a good guy in the Ministry of Magic, is very firm on this point.
Newt Scamander also supports his opinion.
Newt also believes, and has always believed, that Magical Creatures should live in nature.
As for why there are so many Magical Creatures in his Suitcase, it is simply because of Newt's physical condition.
Kyle has seen this old man more than once, so he can be sure.
Kyle clearly remembers that when he was five years old and walking with Newt in the garden, he witnessed a Diricawl leap into Newt's arms.
You should know that Diricawl are natural masters of Apparition. Although they are not very smart and do not deliberately hide like other Magical Creatures, they do have a strong sense of territory and the ability to sense danger.
If they sense that wizards or other creatures are threatening them, they will flee as quickly as possible.
In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first sentence of the description of Diricawl says that they can only be seen from a distance, not approached.
However, one of these Diricawl actually leaped into Newt's arms with such precision.
It's outrageous.
And when he was seven years old, he went out with Newt again and met a Salamander.
When he was eight, he met an injured Unicorn.
When he was ten, he was almost turned into a melting pot by a Fire Crab.
...
Some of these Magical Creatures were smuggled into the British magical world and then escaped, while others wandered here without knowing how. They keep appearing around Newt in various unbelievable ways.
And this is still the premise that Newt stayed at home.
When he carried a Suitcase around the world to send Magical Creatures home, the situation was much more severe than it is now.
Every time he sent a magical animal home, a dozen or more new magical animals would bump into him. After a long time, it would be strange if there were not many animals in his box.
...
With such a special talent, it was no wonder that almost every Ministry of Magic blocklisted Newt.
After all, these Magical Creatures had bad tempers before they met Newt, especially the injured and pregnant ones, who would explode on the spot if anything went wrong.
Imagine you are sitting in the street having your afternoon tea, and suddenly, a crazy Manticore, or a Nundu, jumps out next to you. Tsk, that scene, just thinking about it, can make people sweat.
So, what has Grindelwald or Voldemort done to cause trouble? That's it? That's too weak.
Look at Newt. He doesn't have to do it himself if he wants to make someone disappear. He just needs to buy a plane ticket and stay there for three or five days, drinking coffee and enjoying the scenery, and he doesn't even have to deal with cause and effect afterward.
Granma Tina is really great. She sealed Newt by her side with her own powers. It's no exaggeration to say that the whole world owes her an Order of Merlin, First Class.
It's just that the British magical world is suffering.
According to incomplete statistics, the Ministry's incidents involving Magical Creatures have increased exponentially since Newt settled in Dorset. The British magical world has inexplicably become the most popular place for smugglers to sell stolen goods, nothing else.
Fortunately, although there have been incidents of all sizes over the years, none of them have had any severe repercussions. At most some unlucky guy has suffered some minor injuries.
As the birthplace of Newt, this place probably has a passive buff.
But Chris is not so lucky. Because of his job, he has to work overtime now and then.
But looks like he enjoys it.
...
When he got to the door, Kyle found that in addition to Chris standing at the door, his mother Diana had returned from the Ministry of Magic early, which was rare. She stood there looking at him with a smile.
Her long black hair was meticulously tended, and the black robe with white trim was worn appropriately and elegantly. When she looked at Kyle, her pale blue eyes were full of tenderness.
Elegant and intellectual.
This was Kyle's impression of Diana all the time.
Unconsciously, Kyle turned his head to look at Chris. Well, he was a bit handsome, and he could vaguely see some of his youthful appearance. The two of them were a good match.
The most important thing is that Chris is not bald. Even though he is almost 40 years old, the distance between his hairline and his eyebrows is only about an inch. This is in stark contrast to Mr. Weasley next door.
Of course, with such strong genes, Kyle's looks are nothing to sneeze at. Among the people he knows, he can at least rank first. At a young age, he has a tendency to bring disaster to the land and the people.
Of course, this is not important, and Kyle never takes it to heart. He doesn't live by his face.
"Sorry, I'm late."
Kyle walked between them and said sheepishly.
"If you can get rid of the notice, it probably won't be too late and Hogwarts won't leave the UK because you didn't keep the notice."
Chris looked at Kyle teasingly and told a joke he made up on the spot.
Well, let's just call it a joke. At least Chris laughed happily after he finished speaking.
As for Kyle, even though he didn't understand what Chris was laughing at, he politely pulled down the corner of his mouth, all for the sake of his father's face.
Fortunately, this situation did not last long.
"Okay, it's getting late, we have to go."
Diana smiled slightly, interrupting the awkward interaction between father and son, taking Kyle's hand along the way. "There are a lot of things to buy for school, we have to go quickly, and it's not polite to keep the Weasley family waiting."
Then, accompanied by a crisp explosion, she and Kyle disappeared.
Seeing this, Chris also Apparition and followed.
