Harry Potter: Becoming a Study God

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Suitcase and Pencil Case

Just as he was about four or five centimeters away from the chick, Wade suddenly felt a slight tingling sensation in his fingers. At the same time, he saw that Rolf's hair had stood completely on end, like a porcupine.

Wade quickly realized what was happening and figured his hair must look the same.

Rolf burst into silent laughter, then tugged at Wade's arm, and the two of them sneaked away from the stone pillar, looking like thieves.

After a few twists and turns, they found themselves in a warm and humid bamboo grove. It was only then that Rolf began to laugh out loud.

"Isn't it amazing? Thunderbird chicks are born with electricity."

Laughing heartily, Rolf used his hands to gather water from the bamboo leaves and smooth down his messy hair.

Wade drew his wand: "Aguamenti." (Water-Making Spell)

A stream of water flowed down from the bamboo branches, and Rolf immediately gave him a thumbs-up!

The two of them used the water to tidy up their hair. Suddenly, Wade noticed a dung beetle larger than a retriever leisurely rolling a similarly huge dung ball as it walked past them.

Newt's suitcase space was even more magical than the Granian farm. Just walking a short distance made it feel like they had entered a whole new world.

After rounding a corner, the bamboo forest turned into a tropical savannah; after wandering aimlessly for a while, they somehow ended up in a rainforest.

A curtain separated icy tundra from fragrant blooms, and massive rocks divided deserts from water-filled areas.

A tiny distant cave quickly expanded into a huge cavern once you walked inside.

A plain oak door opened to reveal distant mountains and an endless lake.

And Newt kept many 4X or even 5X-rated dangerous creatures here. In front of that man, these terrifying creatures acted like well-behaved children, bowing their heads to enjoy his touch.

Even Rolf could play or feed these creatures freely without worrying that they might harm him.

"I really like them," Rolf said, puffing out his cheeks. "But Grandpa always says we can't keep them in such a small space."

"That's why, although he constantly rescues magical creatures in distress, he always releases them back to their original habitats once they can survive on their own."

"If only animals could use something like a Book of Friends… that way, even if we parted, we'd never lose contact."

As he spoke, he hugged a young Re'em calf. Both he and the calf looked at Wade with the same pitiful and hopeful expression.

Wade couldn't help but laugh. "Even if I could make animals use something like a Book of Friends, they can't read!"

Rolf's expression instantly fell, and with a sigh full of sorrow, he said, "I knew it wouldn't work... Isn't there a way to communicate without writing?"

"There is," Wade said as he sat down beside him. "What about two-way mirrors?"

"But two-way mirrors are rare and too expensive," Rolf said dejectedly. "I have a lot of friends but very little allowance."

Wade couldn't help but laugh again.

The boy, with his round head and chubby face, was already adorable, but when he made that adult-like, worried expression, he became even more amusing.

As he laughed, Wade felt a subtle stir within his heart.

Two-way mirrors... that might be an interesting research direction...

After taking a tour, Wade found an opportunity to ask Newt about the practical applications of the Undetectable Extension Charm.

Newt had devoted his life to protecting magical creatures, and his enchanted suitcase played a vital role in that. When it came to the use of the Undetectable Extension Charm, Wade suspected that even Dumbledore might not surpass Newt.

In this field, Newt was undoubtedly a world-class expert.

Wade also showed Newt his pencil case. Layer by layer, it gradually unfolded until it became a tall wardrobe.

Seeing the wardrobe, which stood over a person's height, Newt was stunned for a while before muttering softly, "Yes, a wardrobe is so convenient..."

When he was younger, he hadn't thought much of it, but as he aged, Newt realized that climbing up and down the stairs inside the suitcase every day was a real challenge for his bones.

Newt and Wade walked into the wardrobe space, and after taking a turn inside, Newt nodded in approval. "An impressive application... I didn't expect a twelve-year-old wizard to achieve this level..."

"But as it stands, it's still just an ordinary storage space."

Wade frowned and said, "It doesn't seem possible to make it like your suitcase, where many spaces are stitched together seamlessly, with no conflict or oddness."

When the conversation shifted to his area of expertise, Newt's confidence became visibly apparent. He smiled and said, "Space stitching... that's quite an accurate description."

"In my suitcase, I have indeed stitched together many real spaces."

"Real spaces?" Wade asked, thinking it over. "Is it similar to folding space and then unfolding it inside the suitcase... something like that?"

"It's not that complicated."

Newt clasped his hands together and thought for a moment before speaking:

"You know, for magical creatures, the most dangerous beings on this planet are the billions of humans."

"Humans are turning more and more of the natural environment into cities of steel and concrete, leaving fewer and fewer suitable habitats for animals."

"To provide these little creatures with a proper living space, I would use a Severing Charm to isolate an area of land before Muggles could destroy it. Then... well, a Shrinking Charm and an Enlargement Charm complete the transfer."

He explained it as if it were simple, but Wade quickly realized just how difficult this must be... as daunting as a skyscraper.

A simple example—

Before Christmas break, Wade once saw some upper-year students manage to get their hands on a tall spruce tree, intending to decorate it as the tallest Christmas tree in the school.

That spruce tree, which Hagrid could carry on his own, required five or six students casting Levitation Charms simultaneously just to move it into place.

And Newt?

His suitcase even had a snow-capped mountain inside it!

Newt continued, "Sometimes it doesn't have to be so complicated. You can use a Space Linking Charm to connect part of the inside of the suitcase to an external space, allowing them to communicate with each other."

"Did you see that lake? Underneath it is a connection to Loch Ness in Scotland. The Kelpie can move freely between the two."

"But of course, there's always the risk of intrusion, so you have to be especially cautious when choosing which spaces to link."

"Then how do you ensure the stability of the space inside the suitcase?" Wade asked. "I've heard that if a spell fails, the contents inside might burst out and destroy the container. But you don't seem to worry about that."

"Well, that's just one of my little tricks."

Newt smiled with a hint of pride. "During my travels, I learned a method of separating space from magical creatures..."
