Music
The music classroom was on top of a tower.
It was quite possibly the highest point of the entire school. The tower was a thin, winding staircase built with sturdy, magical metal.
The classroom on top was much bigger than it should have been, but there was a strong enchantment that kept it high in the sky, supported by an impossibly small structure.
When we finally entered through the door into the music classroom, a wave of loudness washed over us.
The room was smaller than the size of the building would suggest, although it made sense once I noticed the many doors lining the walls that presumably led to small, sound-insulated rooms.
In the main room, though, many students were playing a huge variety of instruments. I saw violins, violas, cellos, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and flutes.
Lining one of the walls was a massive rack of instruments, closed off by a desk. Behind said desk was a harpy woman who looked a little bit like my father. She had feathers of a similar color, too.
"Ah, you've finally come to my classroom!" The woman exclaimed upon seeing me. "It's so nice to meet you!"
"Who... are you?" I asked. The woman slouches slightly.
"Aw, I'm hurt," She replied. "You don't recognize your own family? I'm your Aunt Celia!"
"Oh," I said. Scarlet chuckled.
"Well, it's so nice to finally see you here," Celia told me. "What instrument can I get for you?"
I scanned the shelves to see if there was anything I knew how to play. I had played the violin for a few months in this world but got bored of it quickly.
Then my eyes caught on a stringed instrument.
A smooth, rounded wooden body with a long neck and six strings put together into my favorite thing to play on Earth, the guitar.
"Let's go with that one," I said, pointing to it.
"Are you sure?" Celia asked. "The guitar is notoriously hard to play." She pronounced it strangely, like 'goo-ee-tar'.
"I'm sure," I replied. Celia shrugged and flew up to grab the instrument before bringing it back down to me. Then she handed me a wooden pick. "This triangle is supposed to be used to play it, but no one knows how."
I took the instrument and walked over to a bench. As I did, I began preparing the magic that I would use to play the song.
"You'll like this one," I told Nara as my [Law] magic changed the guitar to an Earth-style electric guitar. I also created some speakers of ice behind me to create backup music.
I took the pick in hand and strummed the strings, letting out a long, loud note. The speakers began sending out waves of noise as the song started. Everyone quieted as my music spread across the room.
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me, and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one, and I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk a-
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then, I walk alone
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the borderline
Of the edge, and where I walk alone
Read between the lines
What's messed up, and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive, and I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk a-
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then, I walk alone
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, I walk alone, I walk a-
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one, and I walk a-
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then, I walk alone
As the last lyric left my lips, I continued playing, strumming out my feelings through the notes.
When the song ended at last, I breathed heavily as the room echoed with the last notes of the song.
I looked up and saw everyone around me. Some were in awe. Others had tears in their eyes.
My gaze caught on Scarlet, Kathyrine, and Nara, who were clapping. Soon others joined in, and soon enough the room was roaring with applause.
