Harpia Harpyja

Conflict?

"What could you be talking about?" I asked, intentionally trying to provoke the vampire.

"You know exactly what," He snarled. "I was offering my amazing bedroom services to you, a lowly birdkin, and not only did you reject me, but you also injured me. I will have my revenge on you, little canary."

"Hah!" I said, making the vampire confused. "You think I'm a birdkin, do you?"

Here, the eyes of the red-haired wolfkin went wide. "Laine-," He started.

"Shaddup!" Laine, the vampire, hissed, before turning to me again. "What do you mean, 'think'?"

"You're such an idiot," I told him. "You can't tell the difference between a regular birdkin and the granddaughter of Nitri orchard?"

Laine froze as I spread my wings, showing off the characteristic feather pattern only seen in the wings of a harpy. His entire brain seemed to freeze up like an old computer trying to process something.

Then the birdkin next to him stepped forward and bowed deeply.

"I apologize for all that me and my companions have done, Princess!" He said. "I promise to part ways with them and beg for your forgiveness!"

"Arden, what are you doing?" Laine asked the birdkin.

"Are you stupid?" Arden shot back. "The Orchard family has been the highest royal family for centuries and their influence can be felt throughout the entire country. I would rather not have them mad at me." With that, he turned and bowed to me one more time before leaving.

"I'm with Arden on this one, Laine," The wolfkin said. "And honestly, you're annoying. See ya."

After that, the vampire was left alone, standing in front of me, Scarlet, and Kathyrine.

"I honestly don't care what you do from now on," I told him. "But if I hear of you doing anything like what you tried again, you will face the wrath of my family."

With that, I turned and left, with my two soulmates following behind.

As soon as we were out of earshot, I collapsed into laughter.

"Oh, god that was so hilarious," I wheezed.

"Huh?" Scarlet asked. "Why?"

"I've never really realized how influential my family is," I explained, still chuckling. "I didn't think about it much."

"How?" Kathyrine asked. "You've been royalty your whole life."

"Technically, no," I said. "I'm blessed, remember?"

Here both of them stared at me.

"Wait, I forgot to tell you?" I asked. "Shit, sorry. I meant to."

"Honestly, that explains several things," Scarlet said. "So tell us, what was your life like before?"

"Well, pretty different from now," I told them. "I came from an entirely different world, actually. And I used to be a guy."

"Wait, really!?" Kathyrine exclaimed. "But you're a girl now!"

"Uh-huh," I said. "I abandoned my past life. I wasn't anyone special and I had a boring life. In my mind, I'm just me with the memories of someone else."

"Then that's what we'll believe too," Scarlet announced, pulling me into a hug.

"Thanks," I said. Kathyrine joined in, and Scarlet curled her tail around all three of us. After a few moments, we continued to the blacksmithing class.

When we got to where it was supposed to be, we found a single small door with no label.

"What's this?" Kathyrine asked.

"I don't know. . ." Scarlet replied.

"This is where the classroom is supposed to be," I said.

I pushed on the door and it opened easily. Inside was a small hallway with white walls and another door at the end.

We stepped inside and the door closed behind us. Then suddenly the room was filled with a cold mist. It lasted for only a second before disappearing. Then the door at the other end opened.

"Thank you for cleansing yourselves in the detox chamber!" A voice told us. "Welcome to Blacksmithing!"

And then we walked into one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever been in.
