Chapter 176: The Gathering Of The Elite.
The days went by fast and before Kyle knew it, the night he was supposed to attend the prestigious party was upon him.
Kyle knew this was the first step into the world of the rich and famous, there was no way he would risk not getting it right.
Jane was excited about it, cheering him on because she could tell Kyle was tense.
He had never attended such an event before, so he didn't know how to act, but something told him that they wouldn't be impressed by his wealth as he didn't have the power that came with such status.
However, this would also be a good way for him to see what that world looked like.
Kyle was nervous but Jane helped calm his nerves somewhat.
He hadn't seen or spoken to Cassandra since that day and spent most of his time here.
Kyle knew that a little distance would do both of them some good. He didn't even ask where her kid was, but that wasn't his concern.
She was his mother so there was no doubt that he was somewhere safe regardless.
Kyle sighed because he still had a couple of hours to mentally prepare but if it was a costume party that meant that they wouldn't be able to tell it was him.
Kyle knew it wasn't a Halloween party where they came in silly outfits but the opposite, it was sophisticated people that valued the power of anonymity.
"Is there anything I could do to help you relax?" Jane questioned to which Kyle nodded.
"What can I do?" Jane responded instantly, sounding anxious yet excited.
"Relax, I just want to cuddle,:: Kyle said, gesturing for her to come to him.
Jane expected something a lot more difficult, men would usually require something perverse in a situation like this, wouldn't they?
Jane didn't mind because she liked cuddling with Kyle but Kyle made a request that made her even happier.
"Can I be the little spoon?" Kyle requested and Jane's heart fluttered at this request.
Kyle was much bigger than she was so she didn't know how she could manage but she always wondered what it would be like to be the big spoon.
Kyle was embraced in her warmth and he closed his eyes, he felt safe.
This was a feeling he hadn't felt ever since he was a kid but there was nothing that could match this.
This showed once again that Jane was here to stay because no one else offered this sort of comfort.

Kyle had no idea when his body slipped into a slumber.
For the first time in a long time, it wasn't a nightmare and Kyle felt all the tension leave his body.
Kyle slept for an hour and upon waking up, realized that this was what he needed.
"Wow! I feel refreshed…" Kyle thought to himself, he looked up and saw Jane was not only still awake but stroked his hair with a satisfied smile on her face.
Kyle smiled at her and all he could see in her eyes was love, unconditional love or at least that was what it seemed like.
-
Kyle got ready for this party and realized that time had escaped him, he slept longer than he would have liked.
Kyle knew it would be in good taste to be punctual but it could also serve as a show of his importance to arrive later than others.
This would invoke a tone of respect among them however Kyle was aware that the latter was only effective if he already had a social standing.
This was the first time he was meeting most of them so arriving early would grant him access to everyone before the party could kick into gear.
He kept in contact with Yuki, and she offered to send a personal driver to come pick him up but all Kyle requested was that she share her location.
Jane would have looked good on his arm but Calista was trained for such events and with her recent trend, there was no doubt that some of these men would want to meet a pretty lady.
But if he did this, Calista would forever be linked with him and this was how rumours started despite them wearing masks.
He kissed Jane goodbye at the door before heading out and driving towards the venue.
Kyle was dressed in classy yet corporate clothing that brought out his figure and exaggerated his physique.
Kyle arrived shortly and his car was easily the cheapest in this compound, Kyle expected this much but it was good.
He learned something in life that regardless of a person's status, they wouldn't like for a newcomer to be perceived as wealthier than them.
"Never outshine the master," Kyle muttered under his breath, making his way in.
No one even spared him a look except a few women but this was solely because of his good looks.
Kyle was among the youngest people there so this was no surprise that even the married women took a double take.
Yuki was waiting for him outside already, handing him a mask, Kyle could tell it was her because she informed him what she was wearing prior.
"Welcome sir! I'm glad you could make it," Yuki greeted. She was wearing a cat-like mask but the mask she handed Kyle was that of a demon.
"Hm… Why this design?" Kyle requested, putting it on because he noticed that no one else had it on. They all represented different animals except for the one Kyle had on.
There had to be a reason for this.
"It is because this is your first time, it would allow everyone to know and excuse potential rule violations and bad etiquette," Yuki pointed out.
Kyle sighed, he couldn't say much about this but this was essentially putting a marker on him.
He handed the man standing at the door the gold-plated invitation.
The man stepped aside without much resistance allowing Kyle and Yuki to get in.
This place was a different ball game altogether, Kyle couldn't believe how big and wealthy the people here were.
They didn't dress extravagantly but he could tell what they had on easily and could buy his car multiple times over.
"Wow! These people are rich, rich!" Kyle thought to himself but before he could process his thought.
