Chapter 50: Moment of Truth
He looked at his phone as he stepped out of the car— Isak had set everything up so fast and sent the details.
Beautiful.
He hummed the tune from the opera, scanning the place.
It seems they're not back.
It's a few minutes before 9.
NICE.
BUY RETROE
That should make them enough for the favor.
I'll go in with 50 million on my main account and everything on the main account.
That power...
I'll get it.
I'll see what makes them so drunk.
He closed his eyes and exhaled.
Why couldn't he clear what happened so easily?
Why did Ave make him go there?
There's always a pattern.
Always.
Let's see how it goes.
The drawing room opened slowly as he stepped in.
"Did everything go well, Sir?"
"Yeah. I didn't have to call" he chuckled, taking his shoe off.
"I got a call tonight about investors who said they talked to you" Xander stepped forward
"Oh... I forgot with everything going on. I'm sorry"
"It's no problem— you're the owner and you can move with your decisions" Xander chuckled.
He stared at Xander for a while and exhaled.
There's definitely a lot of stress on his shoulders.
"We have to hire more workers soon..." He muttered,
"Yeah" Xander chuckled
"It's going to be a tough day tomorrow — Tell Serta to prepare well"
"She's coming?" Xander asked, a little bit excited.
He raised his brow as he looked at him.
Was he developing feelings for her?
"A dangerous path, buddy..." He mused, walking off.
Xander chuckled, watching him walk off.
"I'll tell her to prepare"
"Thank you... We'll be going together"
"Alright, Sir"
"Have you eaten?"
"Mia called— she'll be bringing some food from the Eatery"
"Okay. Goodnight, Man"
"Goodnight, Sir"
______
He arranged the bed as soon as he stepped out of the bathroom.
Let's start this.
He picked his laptop and turned it on, glancing at his phone for the details as he logged into the trading account.
Fully funded with 100 million.
He searched Retroe stocks— it's been falling massively since last year.
What happened?
He opened his browser to search about the company— a popular home technology company that's been seeing it rough.
The previous owner was arrested for tax evasion and had to sell it around the time.
The outlook doesn't look good.
A lot of criticism and...
A project?
They've been pouring their funds into a project since the time?
Ave's suggestion means it's successful and they'd probably shock the Internet tomorrow.
Wouldn't this look like Insider's trading?
Will their power cover this too?
Ah... No need to think too much.
He placed a buy order on the stocks and exhaled, glancing at the door as it opened slowly.
"The sensation magnet..." Marie teased as she entered,
"You'll enjoy the sensation so much" he chuckled, glancing at the screen as he switched the accounts.
"As if..." She huffed, tossing the shopping bag she held
"What's this?"
"There's fries, burgers and chips— we stopped to do some shopping"
He opened the bag and brought the things out.
"I thought I'd give Mr. Husband a treat for reaching a billion— it's not fancy---"
"Thank you..." he turned to her, cutting her off.
She blinked as their eyes met and turned her face away.
Stars... Why was his face so...
She gulped, clenching her fist as she walked away.
He's a fake husband.
Don't have any silly thoughts.
"Hey..."
She flinched, raising her head to look at him.
"What's happening? Is there a problem?"
"N–No..." She lied, then walked into the bathroom.
He watched her walk into the bathroom in a daze.
Fuck.
What was that feeling he felt looking into her eyes?
Was he...
No. That's not it.
It's fake anyway.
Why does that sound different?— sad, like it shouldn't be?
Get your head right, Trent.
There's no way it's different, you're just thinking too many things.
Right.
He pushed the bag to the centre of the bed and turned back to the laptop.
Over $1.5 billion in worth.
All of which can be withdrawn.
Damn...
An Island?
That'd be cool. One in a very nice vacation spot and condition.
50 million on Retroes stocks.
"I don't think I can eat that with you tonight" she glanced at him as she walked out of the bathroom.
"Oh" he looked up, at her.
"I've got a meeting tomorrow morning with Madam Theron and Senator Montclair"
"Congratulations on securing their investments..." She smiled, walking forwards.
"Thank you..." He bowed his head slightly, with a smile.
"But..." She paused, flinging the bag from the bed and placing it at the corner.
"What's your plan for the company?"
"With their 5% at 500 grand, we'll be able to evaluate the Company at 10 million dollars, $5 per share comes to 2 million shares---"
"Wait—" she interrupted, sitting down, "You're really confident it's going to go public?"
"Yes" he scoffed, "With investors now, we have everything we need and just need to be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission"
"Alright..." She squished the pillow and tossed it down to lay her back.
"20% shares to the public that I'll tell Xander to snatch back and that's done"
She stared at him for a while.
He's got everything planned out and all, but what about if it doesn't work well.
"It'll work well" he chuckled, as if he could hear her thoughts.
"I hope so" she muttered, glancing at the laptop.
"You should teach me how to fish, Boss" she teased, positioning herself to sleep.
"I'm always here" he chuckled, closing the laptop.
Always here, huh?
"Goodnight"
"Goodnight, Queen"
______
"There's a ton of reporters... Did they get information about the investments?" Xander huffed as he parked the car.
"We have to renovate the underground parking lot as fast as possible" Trent glanced at him,
"Yeah... I've spoken to the construction company and they said they'll work on it"
"Alright. Let's go"
He looked at his phone— 10 minutes past 8. The show with Retroe should've started.
The reporters rushed towards them as they stepped out of the car.
"I'll take care of this, Boss" Xander whispered, nodding his head.
Good.
He walked past them, ignoring their questions.
Xander kept them busy, glancing back at Him as he walked towards the building with some reporters following.
"Today— we've got investors coming in, as you already know. We'd be grateful if you could make it easy for them"
Trent turned as cars drove in.
Did they come together?
The reporters with Xander and those lurking with him rushed off as Montclair and Rosa Theron stepped out of their cars.
Montclair's guards blocked the reporters as he ignored them.
Rosa, on the other hand was having fun with the reporters.
"She's a natural..." Montclair scoffed as he reached Trent.
"She sure is..." Trent chuckled,
"It's nice to meet you again, Sir"
Didn't he say his daughter will come?
Montclair chuckled seeing the expression on his face,
"She's not here— hates the media with passion"
Oh.
"This is Xander Ferte" Trent stretched to Xander, "CEO of Reeves Technologies"
"It's nice to meet you, Sir" Xander bowed.
"It's nice to meet you" Montclair chuckled stretching his hand,
"The young generation will overtake us soon. Such a fine young Man"
Xander smiled as they shook hands.
"She's through" Trent muttered as Rosa walked towards them waving.
The Reporters walked off, far from where they stood, towards the gates as she reached them.
"What did you do?"
"This punk's lost his manners" she clicked her tongue.
"It's nice to see you, Madam" he scoffed, bowing slightly.
"It's not nice to meet you— it's your fault I didn't make much" she huffed, turning to greet Montclair and Xander.
"I told them to behave"
Montclair introduced Xander and they greeted themselves before walking in.
_____
"I look forward to a big boom in my shares" Rosa glanced at him as they stood up with the contract
"You won't be disappointed" Trent chuckled, passing his paper to Xander.
"My daughter... She thinks this is a small amount for what you're selling" Montclair giggled, passing his to the bodyguard with him.
Doesn't he have a Secretary or assistant?
And where the hell was Scarlet?
Immediately, she opened the door as if magically summoned.
Montclair and Rosa turned towards her surprised.
"She's my secretary" he explained, "There's too much traffic where she lives... Right, Serta?"
"Y–Yeah" Scarlet arranged her hair and walked in.
"Too much traffic" she laughed nervously, nodding at Xander.
Montclair laughed softly, walking off.
What an amusing bunch.
"You've got interesting people" Rosa chuckled, glancing at Scarlet.
"Just keep your promise. And hit me when you've got something nice"
"Alright... You guys can see them off. I've got something to do" he said to Xander and Scarlet, sitting down.
Let's see how Retroe did.
It was already 9:32. He'd spent most of the time telling them his plans and strategizing on what to do.
Rosa... That old fox.
Of course she wants 10% more if it launches bad.
Moment of truth...
+2105%.
Over $1 billion on the 50 million trade.
Fuck.
His heartbeat paced faster as he logged into the other account.
Oh, Stars...
Just seeing the numbers made everything slow down.
Over $2.1 billion on the 100 million position.
His hand slipped into his pocket for the scratch card immediately.
Show time!
