Chapter 1: Chapter 1-2-3
Chapter 1
Michael Baldwin, after 15 years of service in the Navy, was finally retiring in 2023. The decision was not easy, but the desire to live a quieter life and be close to his family motivated him to move forward. With a remarkable career, spending 13 years in special operations, with Seal Team Three and DEVGRU, he knew that his next step would be to reconnect with those he had left behind, like his cousin Hailey Bieber.
After coming to terms with the idea of leaving the military, Michael decided to move to Los Angeles. He wanted to get to know the city better and, of course, finally have the chance to meet Justin Bieber, Hailey's husband.
Michael had always had a close relationship with his cousin, who considered him like an older brother. Excited, he picked up the phone and texted Hailey, already planning the transition to civilian life.
"Hailey! I have news. I am officially retired. I am thinking of moving to Los Angeles. Do you have any room for me at your house until I find something permanent?"
Hailey's response was almost instantaneous.
"Michael!!! Of course! I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to see you! You know Justin will be nervous, right? He's always heard your stories and knows you were a SEAL. Haha!"
Michael laughed as he read the message. He knew his reputation as an elite operator could be intimidating, but he was eager to meet Justin and demystify the idea of him being such a serious figure.
"Don't worry, Hailey. I promise I'll be easygoing. Maybe I'll even take Justin on some outdoor adventures, who knows?"
Hailey laughed as she read the message and began preparing Justin for Michael's arrival. Justin, in turn, felt a slight anxiety building. He had always admired the special forces, but now he would be living with someone who had lived through all that experience. It was something new and challenging, but he knew that if Michael was so important to Hailey, he would be to him too.
The reunion between Hailey and Michael promised to be emotional, and Justin was mentally preparing himself to meet the legendary ex-SEAL who was now part of his family.
Chapter 2
It was a quiet afternoon in Los Angeles, and Justin Bieber was relaxing in the living room, flipping through some music magazines as Hailey hurried through the kitchen door. She looked excited, with an infectious smile, which didn't go unnoticed by Justin.
"Hey, what's got you so excited?" he asked, looking at her curiously.
Hailey sat down next to him on the couch, pulling a pillow onto her lap. "Remember my cousin Michael? The one I told you about a few times, the SEAL?"
Justin nodded slowly, his eyes narrowing slightly as he remembered the stories Hailey had told him. "Yeah... the SEAL. The guy who looks like a cross between James Bond and Jason Bourne. You can't forget that, right?"
Hailey laughed, loving the way Justin always dramatized things. "Yeah, that's right. Well, he's coming to LA. He retired from the Navy and he's thinking about staying here. And, well... he's going to be staying with us for a while until he finds a place."
Justin's smile disappeared for a moment, replaced by a look of surprise and apprehension. "Wait... he's staying here? With us?"
Hailey tried to hold back a laugh at Justin's reaction. He was clearly nervous, which she found adorable, considering Justin was usually so sure of himself.
"Yeah, Justin, he's staying here. But relax, it's going to be great! He's like a brother to me, and you're going to love getting to know him. Plus, he's not this super scary soldier all the time, you know? He's also a normal person, just like us."
Justin ran a hand through his hair, trying to process the idea. "Hailey... the guy is an ex-SEAL, someone who fought in wars and did secret missions around the world. I... I'm a pop singer. And now he's going to be here, on our couch? Don't you find that a little... I don't know... intimidating?"
Hailey finally couldn't hold back her laughter. "Are you scared of my cousin? Justin, seriously? He'll love you, and I already told you he's super easygoing. I think it's funny that you're like this, after all you've met so many important people."
Justin gave her an awkward smile, trying not to look as nervous as he was. "It's different. I've never met anyone like him before."
Hailey kissed him on the cheek and stood up. "It'll be fine. Besides, I had an idea. Since no one outside the family knows about Michael, I thought I'd invite some friends over to meet him. It'll be cool to see their reactions. They have no idea I have a cousin who was a SEAL."
Justin looked at her, intrigued. "Your friends? Like Kendall, Gigi, and the gang?"
Hailey nodded, smiling. "That's right. They'll love meeting him, and it'll be a chance for him to socialize a little. I'm sure it'll be fun."
Justin nodded, still a little nervous, but trying to convince himself that it would be a good idea. "Okay, if you say it'll be easy... I just hope he doesn't think we're a little... how can I put it... too soft for his standards."
Hailey laughed as she picked up her phone to text her friends. "He'll think you're great, trust me."
The next day, Hailey was getting the house ready for her friends. The atmosphere was relaxed, and Michael would be arriving later that afternoon.
Justin was calmer now, although there was still a small part of him that wasn't sure how to act around a former SEAL. On the other hand, he was curious to see how Hailey's friends would react to meeting someone with Michael's past.
Hailey, for her part, was excited. It was rare to be able to introduce someone from the family that few knew. She knew Michael would make a big impression, but she was confident that he would easily integrate into the group.
"It'll be fun to see Kendall, Bella and Gigi's reactions when they find out that my cousin is basically a military legend," Hailey thought with a smile as she finished tidying the room.
Now, it was only a matter of time until everyone would get to meet the enigmatic Michael Baldwin.
Chapter 3
It was a sunny morning in Los Angeles, and Hailey had invited her closest friends over for a casual brunch at her house. Kendall Jenner, Gigi, and Bella Hadid were practically sisters to her, and this gathering was the perfect opportunity to reveal something that Hailey had been holding back with some excitement.
The friends arrived one by one, laughing and sharing the latest news about their busy lives. Kendall was the first to settle down on the spacious couch, with Gigi and Bella close behind.
As they helped themselves to fruit and croissants, Hailey seemed to be saving something special, which piqued their friends' curiosity.
"Okay, Hailey, what is it? You have a weird glow on your face, it looks like you have a bomb about to drop," Kendall said, teasing with a smile.
Hailey laughed and settled into the chair across from them, crossing her legs and taking a sip of her juice.
"Actually... I have some really cool news to tell you. You guys don't know, but I have a cousin who's moving to Los Angeles. And, well… he's going to be staying with me and Justin for a while."
Bella frowned in interest. "A cousin? How come we've never heard of him?"
Hailey gave an enigmatic smile and leaned forward.
"He's not exactly your average person. He's… different. And I wanted to introduce him to you guys soon, but first, I think you need a little context."
Gigi arched an eyebrow, laughing. "You're making it sound like he's some kind of spy or something."
Kendall joined in. "Or a secret superhero?"
Hailey shook her head, holding back a laugh.
"Well, he's not a superhero… but he's close. He was a Navy SEAL. And not just any SEAL. He served in Seal Team Three and then in DEVGRU, the elite special operations."
All three of their eyes widened at the same time.
Bella let out a low whistle. "Wait… your cousin was a SEAL? Like the ones you see in movies who go on secret missions?"
Kendall's mouth dropped open. "That's insane, Hailey. How have we never heard of him before?"
Hailey shrugged. "He's always been more private about his career. And you know how these things go… he was away on missions most of the time. But now he's retired and moving here. Oh, and I have something to show you."
With a mischievous glint in her eye, Hailey pulled out her phone and opened a folder of old photos. She searched for the specific image she had in mind, and when she found it, she turned the screen so her friends could see it.
In the first photo, Michael was dressed in a smart white Navy dress suit, with a small smile on his face. His jacket was adorned with impressive medals and decorations, clearly showing his long and successful career. Her friends were silent for a few seconds, taking in the image.
"Wow," Gigi murmured. "He looks like a real hero. Look at those medals, he's highly decorated, right?"
Hailey nodded, pleased with the reaction. "Yeah, he's been through a lot. But wait, I have another picture that I think will really show another side of him."
She scrolled to the next image and her friends leaned in to see. In the next photo, Michael had completely transformed.
He was wearing a full tactical gear, complete with bulletproof vest, helmet, and a rifle strapped to his chest. His thick, well-groomed beard made him look even more intimidating. He was tall, muscular, and had a serious expression that seemed to say he was not someone to be messed with. Beside him was none other than President Obama, smiling as he posed for the photo.
Bella almost dropped the juice she was holding. "Oh my God, Hailey! He looks… scary. Like, is that your cousin? Seriously?"
Kendall was stunned, her eyes fixed on the screen. "He looks like something out of an action movie. This guy... wow. And he was with Obama! What a crazy life he must have had."
Gigi, who was taking it all in, looked at Hailey and asked, "And is he like this all the time? Like, super serious and... tactical?"
Hailey laughed. "No, guys, he can be very easygoing. Of course, at work he has to be serious, but at home he's all about family. You'll love getting to know him. But of course, he's pretty private, so don't expect him to tell you all the details of his life right away."
Kendall still looked fascinated by the image. "Hailey, I think we're underestimating how intense it must be to have a cousin who did things like this. When are we going to meet him?"
Hailey smiled, pleased with her friends' curiosity. "Very soon. He's coming over at the end of the week, and I want to organize a dinner for you guys to meet him. But don't worry, he won't show up with a tactical vest and a rifle, I promise."
The three friends laughed, but now they were genuinely looking forward to meeting Hailey's mysterious cousin, whose life seemed like something out of an action movie. Anticipation was high, and they all knew that the dinner would be, at the very least, memorable.
