Haikyuu - I Am A Different Hinata!

Chapter 40: Chapter 40 -Meeting of all sports clubs

"Yes! I finally caught it!" Hinata shouted cheerfully, sitting in a chair inside the volleyball club room at school along with Kageyama.

"What game are you playing?" Tanaka asked.

"I'm playing Pokémon Black and White, and I was trying to catch this Sandile," Hinata replied.

"Wait, you put these creatures inside that ball and use them to fight other creatures?"

"Basically..." Hinata said.

"And is it hard to put them in that ball? For you to shout like that out of nowhere, it must be!" Tanaka thought aloud.

"This one specifically wasn't supposed to be so difficult, but for some reason, it took way too long... I guess I'm just unlucky!" Hinata concluded.

"What are you guys talking about?" asked Daichi, who entered the room along with all the remaining members.

"They're just talking about these games that Hinata keeps playing non-stop!" Kageyama complained.

"You say that because you've never had the chance to play any games. If you want, you can play on my video game console!" Hinata said.

"You play that too much! When I went to your classroom to call you for this meeting, you were playing while the teacher was giving the lesson... your grades must be terrible!" Kageyama taunted.

"Oh yeah? Then take this!" said Hinata while pulling out a math test and an English test from his backpack, both with perfect scores stamped on them.

"This idiot is good at studying?" Kageyama muttered.

"NOW HE GOT YOU! HAHA," Tanaka said while laughing.

"OF COURSE HE'S GOOD, BECAUSE I'M HIS SENIOR!" Nishinoya boasted, pointing his thumb at his chest.

"But you barely get average grades..." Sugawara said.

"But isn't that amazing too?!" Nishinoya asked, confused.

"Well, we need to forget about this topic because there's something that might be of interest to everyone and maybe even concerning..." Daichi said with a grim expression.

"What's it about?" Hinata asked.

"There's going to be another meeting of all sports clubs, where each club has to give a speech to the audience. Normally only the captain should have to do it, but this time... they want at least one person from the first and second years to do part of the speech," Daichi said.

"WHAT?! THEY WANT ME OR NOYA TO SPEAK TO A BUNCH OF PEOPLE?" Tanaka asked.

"I THINK I CAN..." Nishinoya was saying until Sugawara cut him off.

"Relax, for the second-year students, Ennoshita has already volunteered to do part... now we just need someone from the first year!" Sugawara replied.

"I think I can do it..." Kageyama said.

"Man, when you start speaking, I'm sure you'll go into your dark mode and say everything quickly in that low tone of yours. I don't think that's a good idea!" Hinata warned.

"How about Tsukishima?" Asahi asked.

"No! He's too boring, he'll make our club seem unfriendly!" Tanaka said.

"Tsk! What are you talking about, baldy!" Tsukishima complained.

"Well, then it's decided... Hinata, you've been chosen. I'll give you the text to memorize or whatever until an hour from now when the meeting starts!" Daichi said.

"They didn't even consider me... in this case, it's not something bad... I guess..." Yamaguchi thought.

The Karasuno members were in a sort of dressing room where members from other clubs would present.

"It's your turn now!" Yui Michimiya from the girls' volleyball club said to Daichi.

"Right! Let's go to the stage!" Daichi said, leading the Karasuno members to the stage where various students sat in the audience.

Everything went normally, with Daichi speaking first, then Ennoshita, and finally Hinata, who also did a good job with the speech.

"Everything went well! Good job, everyone!" Daichi praised.

"I didn't expect you to speak so well, Hinata," Sugawara complimented.

"It's a great art of how to use my memory. I memorize everything short-term and keep it stored for this short-term use, but if you ask me to give this same speech tomorrow, I won't remember almost anything - it's all been deleted and thrown in the trash!" Hinata said.

"Seems useful!" Sugawara replied.

"I wish I could do the same thing with math content before and after tests!" Tanaka said.

"But you're still in your second year... if you learn all the math just for a test and delete it from your mind afterward, how are you going to pass your third year and get into college, you idiot!" Tsukishima observed.

"Hey! Tsukishima, I won't be tolerating this disrespect you have for your seniors anymore!" Tanaka warned.

"..." Tsukishima just looked at him with a face of disgust and discontent.

The next day, the Karasuno players were gathered in the club room along with Ukai.

"Everyone, this was the last practice before the start of the Interhigh qualifiers. So rest and go to bed early!" Ukai ordered.

"Wait... Shimizu has something to show!" Takeda said.

"I don't know how to cheer properly... but," Shimizu said while going up to the second floor with Takeda and extending a black Karasuno banner that read "Fly."

"I found it while going through things and washed it..." Shimizu said.

"NOW I'M TRULY FIRED UP!" Tanaka shouted.

"AS EXPECTED OF OUR KIYOKO!" Nishinoya shouted.

"Wait! She's not finished..." Daichi said, stopping the two from shouting.

"Do your best..." Shimizu said timidly in a low voice, leaving many of the members in shock.

"Shimizu! No one has ever done this for us!" Daichi said in tears.

"I didn't know the captain could cry..." Kageyama thought.

"These two are paralyzed," Tsukishima said while observing Tanaka and Nishinoya crying.

"WE'LL DEFINITELY WIN IN THE FIRST ROUND!" Daichi shouted.

"YES!" Everyone shouted in unison.

While everyone was leaving the gym, there was a moment when Hinata and Shimizu were alone.

"Wow! Shimizu... you really put in a lot of work to wash that banner!" Hinata said.

"It's nothing... it's the least I can do to help you all," she said in a low voice.

"Of course not! You already help us so much! I honestly don't know what the club would be without you, you're really an amazing person!" Hinata said.

"Thank you..." she said shyly while looking at the floor.

Afterward, Hinata returned home, had dinner, then played his Pokémon game for a while before going to sleep to avoid being too tired tomorrow.
