Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - Start.
A group of students could be seen inside a bus as evening approached, the atmosphere seeming happy and pleasant, with some of them chatting and laughing, while others were simply sleeping as they waited for their destination.
"Hey, did you see that piece of crap painting? It's so easy to be a painter... just scribble a bunch of nonsense on a canvas, and some idiots will give you a fortune," John said with a sarcastic tone.
"That's because you're dumb and don't understand art. Besides, only a minority of artists actually make good money," Aston retorted.
"Whatever, they'll all have their work stolen in the future with the advancement of artificial intelligence anyway. If I were an artist, I'd already be looking for something else to do. HAHA," John continued.
"You don't even believe AI will completely replace artists. Just try watching a totally AI-generated Japanese anime."
"That's now. Just wait for the future."
"Guys, why don't you stop talking about this shitty topic? You'll never agree, so it's just annoying," said Daniel, a 17-year-old boy with short black hair and a slender appearance.
"He started talking this shit," said Aston.
"You just can't accept the truth," John replied.
"You're unbearable. I couldn't even enjoy this school trip because you won't stop with these futile arguments. We spent years in that school, and this was our first and only trip we'll take," Daniel shot back.
"Who cares about this trip? The tourist spots in that city were terrible, like the museum," John said again, with his sarcastic tone.
"Here you go with these provocations again," said Aston as another argument begins.
When the world around Daniel starts to enter an incredibly slow rhythm, the sound of his two friends and the other teenagers begins to feel like a slight itch in his brain during this trance-like moment, until a few seconds later, he looks to the front of the bus in the driver's cabin and realizes the man was asleep. In a matter of seconds, the world's speed returned to normal, and he shouted:
"DRIVER, WATCH OUT!"
At the moment his shout alerts the teenagers around him, the driver wakes from his sleep and brutally turns the steering wheel as the bus heads toward the guardrail, but this abrupt change causes him to lose control, and the vehicle begins to flip several times before stopping upside down in the middle of the road.
A flash could be seen in Daniel's mind until he starts to hear some voices:
"This one goes there"
"That one goes there"
"Damn, too many soul flows came to us. This must be a mistake from the guys up there."
"WHAT'S HAPPENING?" Daniel shouted, scared, even though he couldn't see anything.
"What's this? A human who can think during the crossing... how weird."
"Where am I?"
"In the world of the dead, but don't worry, you won't be staying here long," said the voice.
"AM I GOING TO HELL?" Daniel asked, frightened.
"Not at all. You and these souls died too early and will be relocated to a new life," the voice said calmly. "But where to? Shouldn't I be able to choose the world and wishes for this premature death?"
"Kid, I just follow orders from my superiors, but you have plenty of spare Karma, so you should go somewhere you'll like... but now just get out of here," said the voice.
When the voice finishes speaking, Daniel begins to feel his consciousness fading away as his vision goes black and sounds start to silence.
A short time later, Daniel feels his consciousness return, and he begins to open his eyes, finding himself in a typical Japanese room lying in bed.
"What the fuck just happened?" Daniel said bitterly while still digesting what occurred in the past few hours.
He gets up and examines the entire room and notices a mirror attached to his wardrobe. He gets such a shock that he falls back onto the bed when he realizes the reflection was Hinata Shoyo from Haikyuu!!, the volleyball anime.
"Holy shit, I really reincarnated," Daniel thought.
"Could have been in a world like One Piece or Naruto, but this seems good enough," pondered Daniel, who also had Haikyuu!! as one of his favorite anime and consequently volleyball as one of his favorite sports.
However, while observing his new appearance in the mirror, he noticed something was different.
"Wait, Hinata was supposed to be a short and skinny boy, one of the shortest in the anime," but the figure he was observing was much taller. He didn't know exactly how much, but he was considerably taller than expected from the main protagonist, with only his skinny constitution remaining unchanged.
"Hey, Shoyo, we're waiting for you to have breakfast," said a female voice.
"Coming," Daniel shouted while panicking.
"If I show up like this, they'll definitely find it strange," Daniel thought anxiously.
"Wait, I don't know if in this universe, Hinata was always tall or if my presence in this body made him grow."
"I can only hope the first option is reality," he thought while going down the stairs of the house that led directly to the table where he observed some people eating... They were two elderly people and a child, possibly Hinata's grandparents and his younger sister.
"Good morning," Daniel said while sitting in a chair next to the girl who looked at him with a strange gaze.
"Hey bro, aren't you getting taller?" the girl said with a playful and cute tone.
"I also noticed. He's much taller than last night... This is weird, isn't it, dear?" said a woman with an older appearance and orange hair.
"Honey, when you're in adolescence, hormones are in full swing. This is completely normal. Let's say Mother Nature blessed him with this sudden growth spurt. HAHAHA," said the man with slightly graying hair in a playful tone.
"You must be right. Hohoho," the woman agreed, laughing along.
"Shoyo, remember to pack your bags. Your time with us ends this afternoon," the woman reminded.
"Got it, I'll remember," said Daniel, who after finishing his breakfast went up to Hinata's room to gather his things and realized all his clothes were extremely small for his new body, with only the one he was wearing somehow fitting
"They could have been sized up by God or whoever, but they could've done the job right and given me some extras," Daniel thought while observing the size of the problem he had on his hands.
"I hope everyone else in this world is as crazy as these three and will casually accept this change," Daniel pondered while waiting for time to pass.
