Luo Huian felt a bit uncomfortable in the presence of the mer. This was her first time meeting with someone whom the original owner knew and honestly, she had no idea how to react. She pursed her lips and smiled at the mer, waiting for him to tell her why he was looking for her. Fortunately, the mer didn't disappoint her.

"Have you seen a young mer around? He might be sixteen or seventeen years of age. Red hair and grey eyes?" Ling Suisui asked her.

"No," Luo Huian shook her head and replied with a frown. "What's wrong? Is he in some kind of trouble?"

"I think he is," Ling Suisui stated with a heavy sigh. "I don't know where that idiot has run off to. A few days ago he ended up in a quarrel with his father and ran away from his home. Ever since then, the mer has been missing from the school. I am worried that he might have ended up in some sort of trouble." Ling Suisui was a highschool teacher and was quite responsible and caring towards his students. When he learned that one of his students had run away, he started looking for him right away.

But no matter where he looked for that naughty brat, he couldn't find him. At first Ling Suisui didn't take it seriously, thinking that he would be able to find that mer in a few days but now it had been weeks and Ling Suisui was truly worried. It seemed like that brat ended up in some sort of trouble, which was why he couldn't return home. After all, with his credit card blocked, where could he even run to?

His delicate eyebrows furrowed a little and he said to Luo Huian, "I am afraid that something must have happened. I heard the news about young mers and women getting kidnapped and trafficked; I can only hope that student of mine didn't run into those traffickers or else it will become really troublesome." He paused and then handed Luo Huian the picture of his student. "Here, if you see him somewhere, please let me know. His parents are really worried, especially his father. If you see him, tell him to come back home and stop making his parents worry."

He also shared his number with Luo Huian before taking his leave.

"Who was he?"

Luo Huian had just dropped her hand to the side after waving off the mer when a hoarse and scary voice spoke from behind. Startled, she turned around and looked at the mer behind her. When she saw that it was none other than her second husband, Fan Meilin, she raised her hand and patted her chest.

"You, what are you doing scaring me like that?" Luo Huian felt like her heart was about to jump out when the mer snuck behind her and whispered in her ear like that, what was he even trying to do?

What else was Fan Meilin trying to do other than looking at the mer who was making his wife smile? Just now he saw it very clearly; Luo Huian was smiling and talking with that stranger. She had never smiled so freely with him.

He glared in the direction in which the mer left and then turned to look at his wife before glaring at her too. He then turned around on his heels and stomped over to their car.

When Luo Huian saw the actions of the mer, she was stunned. She couldn't understand what made the mer lose his temper with her this time around.

She chased after him while trying to talk with him but Fan Meilin was stubborn. He didn't say anything.

Thus, the journey back home was a rather silent one.

"Are you sure you are okay?" Luo Huian asked the mer when she saw that he was not saying a single word to her. Usually, Fan Meilin would chatter a little with her whenever the two of them were together but this time around, the mer was way too quiet!

Fan Meilin had his arms crossed in front of him and he looked rather upset, but he didn't dare to throw a tantrum in front of Luo Huian, as he knew that it was he who was being unreasonable. So he could only pout and nod. "I am fine."

He wanted to make a fuss but he couldn't because how was he supposed to make a fuss when his wife didn't even do anything wrong? Was he going to snap at her just because she talked with another mer? Even Fan Meilin knew that it was simply stupid!

Luo Huian: "..."

You don't look fine.

Though Luo Huian wanted to say something, she knew that there was no point. She had seen Fan Meilin throwing a tantrum like this before and knew that there was no point in pushing him for an answer. He was not going to give one to her.

She sighed and Fan Meilin stiffened. He turned and looked at her with tears in his eyes before saying to her, "You are bored with me in just one afternoon? I knew you would be."

And before Luo Huian could say a word, the mer snuck out of the car and closed the door with a bang.

Luo Huian: "..."

She stared at the mer who was marching out of the car and speechlessly mouthed at him. It took her a while to snap out of her daze and she called after him, "At least tell me why you are mad before losing your temper!" At least she would know what to do before this mer started showing his attitude to her.

"Hahaha!"

"It's not funny!" Fan Meilin glared at Tan Guozhi, who was laughing his arse off. While hugging his pillow, he stated, "I told you this because I wanted to know what to do."

Tan Guozhi wiped a tear off the corner of his eyes and remarked, "Well, it's funny. You who always said that you would never put a woman in your eyes are now acting so jealous. Just because your wife talked with another mer, you lost your temper with her? Forget about what I have to say." he placed his face against the knuckles of his fingers and said to Fan Meilin, "You think it over yourself. Do you think what you did was the right thing to do? I mean Meilin. Luo Huian didn't even say anything to the mer. You said it yourself. It was the mer talking to her. Why lose your temper with her?"

Fan Meilin hugged the pillow close to his body. "I —I just feel insecure. What if Huian realises that I am not worth it and then leaves me alone? I don't want to be abandoned." Luo Huian had been giving him so much external validation and attention that he was afraid that if he lost her, he might not even see what to do with his life.

"And that's where you are wrong," said Tan Guozhi. He raised his hand and pointed at Fan Meilin before saying, "That's where you are really, really wrong. Why are you scared that Luo Huian will leave you and even if she does? So what? Meilin, you are forgetting that you are the ace formula racer, the heir of the Fan family and a really kind-hearted and good mer."

"You do charity and you take care of the poor and the elderly without promoting your name."

"Do you really have to seek validation from Huian? I mean, she is your wife and she loves you but her love doesn't define you." Tan Guozhi's remarks made Fan Meilin's eyes widen with a little surprise.

"I–"

"And Luo Huian does care about you. She truly does; didn't she tell you to leave the company where Liao Hong is? Isn't it because she cares? Anyway, your condition is much better than many mers already. At least your wife cares and doesn't put one above the others."

Fan Meilin lowered his head and thought about it a little and indeed. He had to admit that Luo Huian was not good to just one; she was good with all three of them. If she gave something to him, the other two would receive that as well.

Tan Guozhi sighed in relief when he saw that the mer had calmed down a little. He then said to Fan Meilin, "So you need to calm down and think a little. Don't go around throwing a tantrum with Luo Huian all the time. Though that woman is a bit cheap… I mean, she used to be cheap; she is not going to do anything to hurt you. At least she is treating you better than other women would have, and what's more, as long as you love yourself enough, you don't need to worry about what Luo Huian would do or whom she would love. Fill your life with affection for yourself, Meilin."

"Stop relying on a woman to love you when you can't see your own goodness."
