Chapter 85: The Way to the Examination Room
Reiner's daily test paper plan had just begun, and the first mock test came quietly.
This time the exam was organized by the promotion committee of Rainbow Tower. It adopted a unified test paper to conduct a mock exam. The difficulty was equivalent to that of the formal assessment. It was used for apprentices who were interested in being promoted to a formal mage to test their learning achievements.
For this reason, the test center for the mock test was also arranged by the promotion committee. Each registered school would be divided into several major test centers according to the region, and the test center of the Luna Nova Magical Academy was in Torrendo, the capital of the province of Ann Monet.
At least five magic schools would conduct mock exams in Torrendo's exam center, and many of them were prestigious schools.
Reiner checked the applications students had submitted. This time there would be four students taking the mock test. In addition to Dana who was asked to go by him, there were also the straight-A student Fina Napishtim, the sixth-grade student Lya Felghana, and Eureka Celceta.
In fact, the president of the Student Council, Elymia, as a sixth-grade student, should also take the mock exam, but she did not sign up, so Reiner naturally did not force her.
As for Reiner himself, of course, he would take this opportunity to take the mock exam to prepare for the next official promotion. He simply regarded this as a warming-up activity.
Together with Claire, who would look after the students on the road, the group of six embarked on a journey to Torrendo.
During the short journey, Reiner also got to know the remaining three students taking the exam.
Fina Napishtim came from a family of magic, but her father hadn't achieved anything for many years and was still tinkering with some inexplicable magic, but fortunately, Fina had a good talent and she also studied very hard, so there would be no problem for her to advance to a formal mage.
She was more taciturn than Dana. When talking about her family, Fina always avoided talking about many things. It seemed that she didn't want to talk about her family.
Lya Felghana was the daughter of a baron, and she had a mage ancestor, so it could also be said that she was from a family of magic. But in her opinion, she had very little hope of advancing to a formal mage, and she might only become a noble wife in the end.
She was considered to be the one who liked to talk a lot, even to the extent that Reiner felt that she was a little bit long-winded, but she was still a very cute girl.
Eureka Celceta came from a merchant family, and her family was in Torrendo, and they ran a spice shop. Her family was quite wealthy, so her parents wanted to make Eureka a mage, so she could join the upper class. That was the reason why they sent her to Luna Nova Magical Academy to learn magic.
Eureka used to help her parents to manage the shop before, so she was good at dealing with people. Thanks to her and Lya that the journey to the exam center wasn't that boring.
They had departed from Luna Nova Magical Academy in the early morning, but it was already late at night when they arrived in Torrendo. The official exam would be the morning after tomorrow, so tomorrow was a time for these students to relax.
When they arrived at a hotel called the Emerald Oak Hotel, the people in the carriage were already quite tired. Dana had already slept soundly on the soft backrest and was used as a large pillow by Claire. Eureka and Lya also stopped talking. Their heads nodding from time to time as if they would fall asleep very soon.
Fina remained awake, but she was still looking at the night view outside the window absentmindedly with her pocket book and she was silent.
Reiner opened his eyes. He had been meditating. He found that this could relieve fatigue to a certain extent. Because of this, Reiner was the first to get out of the carriage.
"Mr. Ian Gray, you are finally here."
From the lobby of the hotel walked out a thin man with a mustache. He was the owner of the alchemy workshop where Reiner had a cooperative relationship in Torrendo, John Osborne, and unexpectedly he was not a mage. He was just an ordinary businessman.
"Mr. Osborne, thank you very much."
Reiner shook the outstretched hand and thanked him sincerely. After hearing that Reiner was coming to Torrendo, Mr. Osborne immediately said that he would help arrange the rooms. Now it seemed that he was really enthusiastic.
"No, no, it's the best thing to be able to maintain cooperation with Mr. Ian Gray. You know, Cola's current income has reached 20% of my alchemy workshop's profit. This is only a result of more than half a month of work."
Mr. Osborne was a very clever businessman. After hearing the news about Cola and people could join the Cola franchise, he immediately went to Luna Nova Magical Academy to reach an agreement with Reiner and became Cola's general dealer in Torrendo. Now relying on this novelty, he had suppressed his former opponents completely.
"This is the closest hotel to the exam center, and it has the best decoration. It is the most difficult to book a room during the exam season, but I know the owner well, so I got the rooms."
Mr. Osborne pointed to a building not far away. There should be the headquarters of the Magic Association in Torrendo. The five-story building was particularly conspicuous in a group of low buildings.
"Look, the place for the magic test is there."
"This is really great, Mr. Osborne, I've really troubled you this time."
Reiner nodded slightly. Indeed, they had seen a few students wearing apprentice robes walking through the corridor before. They must be students from a certain magic school.
Turning to look at the sleepy ladies, Reiner said.
"However, my students are very tired, and I hope we can go back to our rooms to rest soon."
"Hehe, of course, please come in."
Mr. Osborne didn't say much, and immediately led them into the hotel. A total of two double rooms and two single standard rooms were arranged. Four students lived in double rooms, and Reiner and Claire each had one standard room.
Looking at the layout of the room, Reiner nodded in satisfaction. It seemed that it was the right thing to have more friends and partners outside the academy.
After sending the ladies back to their rooms, Reiner and Mr. Osborne had a few drinks in Reiner's room and chatted about business matters. Many of Reiner's insights surprised Mr. Osborne. It made him feel that the thinking of the young man before him was no less than that of an experienced businessman.
When Mr. Osborne got up to leave, they heard a noise from downstairs.
"What, why is there no room left?"
It was a grandiose and loud voice that made Reiner frown. It was late at night, and he didn't want anyone to disturb Claire and the others.
"What is going on?"
Reiner opened the door and saw Claire in plain pajamas hugging the pillow, yawning, and poking her head out of her room.
"What happened?"
She spoke sleepily as if she would fall asleep the next second.
"It's nothing, you can go back to sleep, I'll take care of it."
Pushing Claire back into the room, Reiner glanced at Mr. Osborne, and the two quickly walked downstairs.
"...There were still rooms when I came to see it last week, and there shouldn't be that many students in Brooklyn and Phoenix this year, Mr. Fox, are you trying to humiliate me?"
The other party seemed to be arguing. Reiner and Mr. Osborne came to the lobby and saw the source of the commotion.
"Tsk, it really is this guy."
Mr. Osborne was speechless and seemed to have met the person before.
Reiner looked down and found that they were two boys in apprentice robes, who looked like two brothers. Behind them was a well-dressed couple, presumably the parents of the two brothers.
And the sound was made by a chubby man standing in front of the desk.
Suddenly, Reiner felt that the other party seemed familiar. He took a closer look and found that the bloated man was the one who mocked him when he took the airship to Lake Wagner.
"What a coincidence?"
