GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2475: The Fifth Job.

It would have been more difficult to enslave the slave of the angel of slavery if she had used the Chain of Command divine ability to enhance the power of her slave all the time. Legion would have still succeeded in stealing her slave, but it would have been more difficult to do so.

To be fair, the slave they picked was at rank 7. So it would have taken a lot more spiritual energy to raise it to rank 9. This was why she couldn't enhance the power of the slave all the time and one of the reasons why Legion picked that specific slave.

Legion doesn't want to turn out like her, and they also want to be able to have a lot of free spiritual energy to use for other important things. This is why it is very important for them to raise the level of their slaves to the demigod rank as soon as possible.

But while this mission is important, it is not as important as the four other jobs. It would be nice to have more slaves to gain more divine abilities to use with their clones and reduce the spiritual energy consumption of their clones, but it is far more important to do the other things.

They don't think that this fifth job is more important than ensuring that they become angels of killing, or more important than becoming angels of undying, or more important than becoming godlings, or more important than gaining authority of the pathway of telepathy, so they sidetracked the fifth job for later when they are freer.

After they made their decision, the clones scattered in various directions to get their jobs done.

Legion-1, Legion-2, and Legion-3 stayed in the Hydra Kingdom to oversee its massacre. They separated and roamed the land to ensure that no one would stop their quest for power.

Legion-4, Legion-5, and Legion-6 went in search of the angels of undying. Just finding them will be difficult because these angels are reclusive and ancient. Many of the people that knew of them have died, so their identities are largely unknown.

Legion-7, Legion-8, and Legion-9 went to visit an angel of knowledge. Angels of knowledge are rank 9 godclads of the pathway of mages. Legion is visiting them because they, the angels of knowledge, have the most knowledge about the various pathways.

It is said that the angels of knowledge are the ones that discovered and disseminated the various advancement requirements and rituals to the world. So if there is someone who knows how they can gain the favor of the authority of the pathway of slavery, it will be an angel of knowledge.

Lastly, Legion-10, Legion-11, and Legion-12 stayed where they were in the physical world while their minds moved into action in the Mind Palace.

Everyone that moved used the divine form of the pathway of telepathy to cross the world. So all the clones can use any of their four divine forms at the same time.

Of course, one of the three souls in charge of the pathway of slavery, that is, Legion-7, Legion-8, and Legion-9, had to take turns maintaining the Web of Control divine ability. If they stop running this divine ability, they will lose access to their clones.

Aside from that, they have very little to worry about. As long as they still have spiritual energy to run the Web of Control divine ability, and thus the divine ability is not disabled by an enemy, they won't have any problems with it.

The first clones to make progress in their missions were Legion-10, Legion-11, and Legion-12. They first sent their brainwashed demigods to the headquarters of the Mind Hunters organization to receive the rank 9 divine flesh that they were promised.

They sent their demigods so that no one would notice that they had become angels of telepathy. But after they got the rank 9 divine flesh of the pathway of killing, they didn't have any reason to be cautious anymore.

However, for their plan to work, they first sent their brainwashed demigods to assist the 15 demigods to repel the angel of telepathy. They didn't join in the fight themselves and instead watched them fight by the side.

They didn't want to appear in the Mind Palace yet because their plan required them to keep their promotion a secret. So they sent the remaining 6 demigods they still have after consuming the minds of nine of them to become angels of telepathy.

Their explanation for their behavior was that they didn't need to use all of their power to win. The 15 demigods accepted this explanation, as it was true.

Only 20 demigods were needed to defeat the angel of telepathy. They sent 6, so there were 21 demigods in total. This would ensure victory, so there was nothing that the 15 demigods could complain about.

Even if Legion had decided not to honor the deal and help them beat back the angel of telepathy, there was nothing they could do about it. Since Legion was actually doing something to fulfill his promise, they should be satisfied.

However, the fact that Legion didn't show up after they gave him the rank 9 divine flesh made them suspect that he was busy assimilating the divine flesh, which was why he couldn't join the fight.

They were wrong to think this, of course. But they didn't know that they were wrong, and it emboldened them to take some risks.

Legion's absence from the battlefield began to give them some ideas about how to take advantage of him. So after the angel of telepathy was beaten back, the 15 demigods chose to gang up on the 6 demigod telepaths that Legion sent to help.

At first, only 3 demigod telepaths out of the 15 made a move against the 6 demigod telepaths. But when the rest saw that Legion or any reinforcement didn't appear to save the 6 demigods, they too joined in the fight.
