Chapter 462 – Exorcist’s Tong’s Weakness and Power

"Run!" Max shouted as he activated Exorcist Tong's power.

Energy surged and created a large tong. He controlled it to hold down the crowd. However, the tong only held one zombie in place. His eyes widened as he watched the incoming zombies.

"Damn it! This useless tong can only hold one zombie!"

He took out his Tarot Card and waved it. The card glowed as an Energy ball formed in the air and flew toward a group of incoming zombie villagers.

It exploded upon hitting them, destroying the weak zombie villagers easily.

Samuel stared at Max in amazement.

"How powerful... But did you kill them? Those villagers..."

Max looked around and shook his head.

"No. They're still alive. Just stunned for a few seconds. Now run! To the hole!" He shouted as he looked at his Tarot Card. The light dimmed, it was still on cooldown.

His tong was practically useless against many opponents, but he could stop one zombie and cause the others behind that particular one to crash into them. That would buy him a few seconds.

However, he couldn't always rely on the exorcism tools. They had cooldowns. And he only possessed two exorcism tools. So, he needed to rely on other things to survive this.

For now, running was the best choice.

Max ran next to Samuel and used the best tool against zombies. Physical force.

He hit the zombie villagers with tong to stun them. Then, he kicked them away. Sometimes, he punched them or tripped them. Explore stories at empire

It was effective. Zombies were fast but stupid.

When the Tarot Card's cooldown was over, he immediately used it to open up a path for Samuel.

"Go go go!" He shouted as Samuel ran ahead.

"Zuzuzu!" The zombies recovered and chased Max again.

"Dammit, how persistent!" Max cursed as he slapped one of them with the tong.

He regretted taking the tong. It wasn't useful enough for a horde battle.

— Breeze is doomed lol

— He is screwed!

— Run! Run for your life!

— He found out that the tong isn't as powerful and has a limitation. He should've taken the Legendary Stick!

Max was angry upon reading that.

"Shut up! Tong is powerful! This tong can cook zombie barbeque!" He shouted angrily as he dodged a tackle from a zombie.

Then, he hit that zombie with the tong and grabbed another one that was running past him. He swung it, throwing the one in his tong toward the others.

— Savage dude!

— Tong is power!

— Cook zombie barbeque!

He smirked as he looked at Samuel who was ahead of him.

"See? It's use-"

Something jumped on him from behind.

Max gasped as he struggled to remove that thing. However, another one jumped on him. And another. Until he was buried under zombies.

His vision darkened as he roared angrily.

[Mission Failed. Restarting.]

"Shit!"

Max shouted as found himself inside the carriage with Samuel.

"M-My mother, little sister, and other villagers were affected. I... I hid here because I am afraid. I don't want to turn into a monster too. These monsters ate cow meat, pigs, and even chicken. T-They only attack animals, not humans...

For now." Samuel's voice trembled as he hugged his legs once again.

"...What?" He muttered in confusion as he recalled what happened. The dialogue he heard just now was from when he entered the carriage.

— Mission failed lol

— This tong is trash!

— You died from being tackled by zombies!

— Tong is trash! Legendary Stick is power!

Mission failed.

Indeed, he had died. He was buried under zombies and died.

The chat kept mocking him for not taking the stick and relying on tong too much.

Still, the chat was chat, after all. From dying earlier, he learned something. He waited for Samuel to finish his preparation and exited the carriage.

Just like before, the zombie had gathered around them. Max smirked as he wielded his tong.

This time, he took out his Tarot Card early. He fired it to explode in the middle of the zombie crowd. It blew away the zombie villagers, causing them to fall down.

Max wasted no time as he ran using the opening. Samuel followed closely behind.

It was easy to clear the path this way.

Then, he used the tong. A large energy tong appeared on his side, but he didn't use it to do anything. He ran between the tong's protection. No zombies managed to approach them from the side or behind, only from the front.

Even then, he could deal with one or two zombies using the most primitive technique called punch and kick.

"See? Tong is powerful! It can become a shield!" He boasted while running.

— It's not powerful but versatile. It's the real power of tong!

— I respect Breeze for relying on tong. Others relied on legendary sticks and forgot about other exorcist tools.

— True. Only noobs take Legendary Stick. It's overused!

— Tong is power!

Max smirked as he ran faster. The chat agreed with him this time.

Soon, they arrived at the hole. It was deep and dark. Samuel trembled upon seeing it.

"T-This is where my father fell into..." He said.

Max nodded as he grabbed Samuel's shoulder.

"Stay here. I will investigate it." He said and stepped toward the hole.

— It might be a trap

— Dude, what are you thinking about going into a dark hole alone?

— As long as there is a hole...

Max ignored those guys. He knew it might be dangerous, but he needed to enter it to continue the story.

The hole was 1.5 meter wide, so he could fit in it without problems.

He entered the hole carefully. His hands held the sides like a spider crawling on the wall.

Soon, he arrived at the bottom. It was dark, and he couldn't see anything.

"It's too dark." He frowned as he looked around. Then, he noticed something.

When his feet touched the bottom, he found a long tunnel.

"This... Isn't this a cave?" He wondered as he looked at Samuel above.

Then, he heard a sound.

"Zuzuzu!"

Max paled as he looked back.

"Aaah!"

Samuel's scream echoed from above as Max watched zombie villagers dragged Samuel away.

At that moment, a notification appeared.

[New objective!]

[Objective: Investigate the strange tunnel.]

When he read that, he shrugged his shoulders and clapped his hands.

"Rest in peace, Samuel. I will forget about your sacrifice."

— lol

— Poor Samuel lol

— Rest in pieces!

— Breeze is cold! He forget about the poor NPC's sacrifice kekw

— At least try to save him.

What could he do? The game asked him to investigate the tunnel instead of saving Samuel. He only followed the objective!
