Chapter 454 – Beach Test
Mr. Strange was standing on the edge of the beach with his hands on his hips. He was looking at the sea, and the staff was holding a camera in front of him.
When Max and Lily approached him, the staff gave a sign and the host suddenly spoke.
"Sea is where life came from."
Max halted two meters away from him, and he also stopped Lily.
"The cutscene begins." He whispered to her, and she nodded in understanding.
People shouldn't disturb the last boss' cutscene. If they pressed skip, they probably wouldn't be able to know how to defeat it.
That was why Max listened quietly. He only disturbed a small fry cutscene, that was his rule.
"We all came from a single cell from the sea. The scientist said that, but I think that's a ruse. We don't know where we came from. Life is a gamble. And I believe that you have come here to gamble by just finishing the last test, don't you?"
"No, we've gathered four keys and this is the last one." Lily answered innocently and Mr. Strange paused.
The staff also looked panicked. The script wasn't… correct. One of the staff moved his mouth like a fist after Gloria appeared behind him.
"Hmm…" Humming, Mr. Strange turned around.
A silly sunglasses with a big nose and exaggerated mustache adorned his face. It looked sillier because he also wore his baseball cup.
"So you're the humans who take no chances. Challengers, not a gambler then."
"But I love gacha." This time, it was Max who said silly stuff.
Silence reigned once again. Mr. Strange glared at Max, his gaze said it all.
'Don't disturb me when I am reading my script!'
Max only chuckled. He couldn't help but do that after Lily interrupted him before. The staff also laughed, giving thumbs up to him.
The IRL cutscene continued after Mr. Strange coughed into his hand.
"Let's just explain the test."
'He gives up.' Max thought.
Poor Mr. Strange. But this would add the funny moment in the video.
The last test was pretty easy. The participants just needed to find the key at the bottom of the sea. They were hidden around the corals. Find your next read on empire
Before diving, everyone was required to wear a diving suit. They would also be accompanied by a professional to ensure their safety.
Mountaineering was one thing, but diving was another. Max wasn't really confident in it, so he was grateful to have a professional to help.
"Now, go! That Blue Sea shop over there will help you!"
Max and Lily immediately ran to the store to get dressed in a diving suit. Getting dressed in it was slightly difficult. The professional that accompanied them helped them to wear it.
Then, they immediately ran toward the boat waiting for them. The professional diver followed behind them, clearly left behind. There was no oxygen tank, there was no need to. It was now replaced by a tiny tube which allowed the diver to breathe by placing it in their mouth.
And, not to be mistaken, its capacity was around thrice that a normal oxygen tank from Max's past life could hold.
"Everyone ready?" The boat driver asked everyone and they nodded.
It departed from the beach toward the vast ocean. But, it didn't go too far from the shore. Max and Lily had no diving license, and they could only dive the sea with 5 meters depth.
Arriving at the diving place, the professional diver gave them instructions on how to dive. He made sure that the participants understood the danger and how to deal with it.
"Alright, we got it."
In case of panic, don't move. Let the professional diver help you. Easy to understand.
The professional diver jumped into the water first, followed by Lily and then Max. They put the tube in their mouth and dove after wearing the goggles.
Diving for the first time ever, Lily looked amazed by the beautiful underwater world. Her eyes sparkled like a little girl when seeing the colorful coral reef.
Meanwhile, Max looked calm. The world under the sea wasn't his first time, though he still found the world pretty. Sunlight passed through the surface, illuminating the beautiful world under.
It was a paradise.
Max and Lily looked around and swam forward when they found a school of fish.
The corals were full of color, making the seabed look very pretty. Max spotted a starfish and a lobster living together in harmony, they were pretty harmless.
Lily also found a big fish, the kind that Max was sure didn't exist in real life.
But, it wasn't the time for sightseeing. They had a job. The chest and the key wouldn't just appear in front of them. He looked at his girlfriend and communicated using a simple hand language.
"Down there. Key. Maybe."
"Ok. I will follow."
Max nodded and began swimming down, looking for the key. It was gold in color, so it should be visible if it was near a white-colored coral.
Unfortunately, it wasn't. It was as if the key was camouflaged. Max couldn't find it no matter how much he tried. He also didn't see any chest, the thing he was looking for.
Looking at the clock, 5 minutes had passed and he already had consumed half of his air supply.
'This is bad. I didn't find anything. Where is the key?'
Looking up, he could see Lily swimming down. She was pretty relaxed, so she still had a lot of air left.
'We are also exhausted. We can't search forever, or else we will run out of breath.'
Max wanted to find the key.
As he narrowed his eyes, something sparkled beneath him.
'There!'
Swimming down, Max looked closely. It was the golden key. It was buried within a group of rocks, and a small amount of sand.
He grabbed it and showed it to Lily. When he turned around, she was diving toward a group of coral a bit away from him. She extended her hand and took something, a chest wrapped in plastic.
She moved her hands excitedly. They managed to find both of the things they looked for easily.
The professional diver saw it and gestured for them to return to the surface. Max nodded and followed him with Lily.
