Great Villain: Starting by Humiliating the Son of the Heavenly Fate

Chapter 440: A Place to Hide

The last words left behind by Bian Zhilin and his group had hinted at a True Dragon—Ying Luo. When Sun Tianhan heard this, excitement flashed across his face. He swore then and there that she would be his to claim.

The Purple Crest Immortal Sect wasted no time. Their cultivators spread out in every direction, searching the air for traces of their quarry.

It wasn't long before they locked onto three distinct auras—Jiang Chen, Ying Luo, and Lu Yi. Ying Luo's True Dragon bloodline stood out like a beacon, and Lu Yi's aura was equally easy to identify. Neither had the means to completely cover their tracks.

Sun Tianhan and his group quickly pieced together the general direction of their escape.

"Southern Breeze Mountain Range! After them!" Sun Tianhan snapped, lifting his hand in a sharp gesture. He was already planning the fastest way to cut them off.

But before they could move, streaks of light tore across the horizon. Figures emerged from the glow—men with sword-like brows and eyes shining like stars, their presence sharp and refined.

The Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace had arrived.

There were six of them in total—four at the peak of the Nirvana Peering realm and two at the late stage.

At the front stood Wen Renxiu, a veteran powerhouse who had long since reached the peak.

Among the rest was someone Jiang Chen knew all too well—Lang Xingyuan. The last time they crossed paths, Jiang Chen had scared him so badly he burned a space talisman just to flee. Yet in truth, Lang Xingyuan was no weakling; he was a Late-stage Nirvana Peering realm cultivator. He had once represented the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace and even dared to clash openly with the Purple Crest Immortal Sect inside the spatial channel underground palace.

The moment Wen Renxiu and his group appeared, Sun Tianhan and the others froze mid-step. Their expressions twisted, as if they'd just swallowed a mouthful of flies.

"Wen Renxiu! You dare step into Purple Crest Immortal Sect territory? What are you plotting? Leave now, or you'll wish you'd never been born." Sun Tianhan's eyes were like ice as he glared at the six from the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace.

Wen Renxiu threw back his head and laughed. "Simple enough. We're here to hunt down Lu Tingyun's half-human, half-demon son, Lu Yi. Isn't that why you're here too—to track him down and erase him?"

"What nonsense are you spouting? Lu Yi is no such thing. And whatever we're doing here has nothing to do with you. This is our land—we'll act as we please." Sun Tianhan's aura flared, his killing intent rolling out like a storm. "Wen Renxiu, keep slandering us, and you won't leave our domain alive."

The tension snapped tight. Behind him, the rest of Sun Tianhan's group let their own murderous intent boil to the surface, ready to strike at a moment's notice.

"Hmph! So eager to fight? All you really want is to stall us so someone else can hunt down Lu Yi," Wen Renxiu sneered, motioning for his companions to withdraw.

Lang Xingyuan and the others gave a quick nod and began pulling back. Their appearance here hadn't been for nothing—they'd already gathered enough clues.

Moments later, Wen Renxiu and his group slipped beyond the reach of Sun Tianhan's divine sense.

"Let's go," Sun Tianhan muttered, drawing in a long breath before signaling his men to retreat as well.

In the end, they chose not to clash. Chasing down Jiang Chen and Lu Yi took priority, and none of them had forgotten the half-step Nirvana Cleansing realm powerhouse from the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace who had shown up during their last encounter.

Sun Tianhan figured that mysterious genius from the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace was probably chasing after Jiang Chen as well. If they wasted time clashing with Wen Renxiu's group, that figure might jump back in to lend support.

In a nine-on-nine fight, they'd gain nothing. Worse, Jiang Chen and Lu Yi could use the chaos to slip away again.

So, for now, Sun Tianhan pushed down his urge for revenge and focused on one thing—catching up to Lu Yi and finishing him first.

What he didn't realize was that the so-called prodigy from the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace wasn't real at all. It was Jiang Chen's trick.

It wasn't that Sun Tianhan was a fool—far from it. But aside from the top ranks of the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace, just about everyone on the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star had already fallen for Jiang Chen's deception.

Sun Tianhan and his group wasted no time, stepping into a teleportation array to cut the distance and rush toward the Southern Breeze Mountain Range.

Wen Renxiu's team did the same, using the traces of aura they'd gathered to lock onto the general area where Lu Yi and Ying Luo had gone. They set off in pursuit without hesitation.

It was then that the reach of the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace inside Purple Crest territory became clear. Even here, far from their own domain, they found cities willing to lend support. With that help, Wen Renxiu's group gained access to teleportation arrays that sped up their chase.

Still, they were a step slower than Sun Tianhan's party.

...

Deep in the Southern Breeze Mountain Range, peaks stretched endlessly into the distance, like waves frozen in a vast, stony sea.

"This will do." Jiang Chen stopped high above the ridges, studying the land below. "The terrain here disrupts certain tracking methods. It's a good place to stay hidden."

"Fine by me," Lu Yi said without complaint.

"Ying Luo." Jiang Chen lifted his right hand.

In an instant, the great dragon shrank into a tiny form no longer than a finger and settled lightly on his palm.

"Conceal." With a flick of his wrist, the power of the Endless Dark Blood Moon Bloodline unfurled, wrapping both him and Lu Yi in its shroud.

Lu Yi's eyes widened. For the first time, he couldn't even sense his own aura. "Amazing…"

"Let's go." Jiang Chen clasped Lu Yi and shot down into the valley, slipping into the ground as if diving into water.

The Dao of Earth flared to life. The soil and stone opened on their own, shaping a tunnel that carried them forward before closing seamlessly behind.

Before long, they stepped into a hidden chamber deep below, its walls glowing with rivers of molten lava.

The heat was fierce, but for cultivators at the Nirvana Peering realm, it was nothing worth worrying about.

"We'll stay here for now," Jiang Chen said evenly. "Even if someone does find us, it doesn't matter. With Ying Luo, we can leave whenever we want."

"I have to admit, I'm jealous," Lu Yi muttered, glancing at Ying Luo perched on Jiang Chen's hand.

The two of them settled into the underground chamber, the molten rivers casting a dim, shifting glow across the stone.

To avoid drawing attention, Jiang Chen warned against cultivating, since it might stir the flow of Spiritual Qi and give them away. Lu Yi agreed without argument.

Keeping Lu Yi close was the right move, Jiang Chen thought. But we can't stay buried here forever. Heavenly Fate will always find a way to throw something unexpected at us.

That was why he'd told Lu Yi his "secret art" had a time limit—it created the excuse they needed to move again when the time came.

Besides, Jiang Chen still had other cards to play, and he wasn't about to reveal all his strength just yet.

Time slipped by. Jiang Chen stayed calm and steady, while Lu Yi's eyes now and then flickered with something else—expectation.

Noticing it, Jiang Chen grew curious. What's he waiting for?

After thinking it over, he figured it had to do with the system.

He must be expecting a reward. The All Things Infinite Fusion System can evolve… but does its fusion count reset?

By Jiang Chen's guess, Lu Yi had already burned through all his fusions back in Burning Sun City about twenty hours earlier. So is he just waiting for the reset?

He kept his face unreadable, but his attention never left Lu Yi.
