Grand Voyage: I Start My Journey With A Ghost Ship!

chapter 90

[Name: Pale Worm Fishing Rod]
[Type: Tool]
[Quality: Exquisite]
[Description: This fishing rod will generate one tiny, pale worm as bait each day. It will actively seek and attach to a target, guaranteeing a 100% catch rate, and is prone to catching strange items. The bait is only effective for the first catch of the day. When you get skunked, the Pale Worm will help you!]
Yang Yi picked up the peculiar rod. It looked normal, but at the end of the line hung a living, wriggling, tiny, pale worm, identical to the one on his left pinky finger.
"Refuses to get skunked?"
He was eager to try it, but his condition was terrible. He had frostbite, deep and purple, and a bloody, mangled bite mark on his back. Even after a [Regeneration Potion], his health was only at 62.
He found a suitable spot to stop the Nyxstar and deployed the [Twilight Veil]. Fifteen minutes later, the ship was invisible.

He knocked on Suna's door. "Mind if I come in? The wall in my room is still being repaired."
"Come in."
He entered and glanced at her. She was huddled under the covers, her cold not likely to get better anytime soon. He didn't disturb her, instead grabbing a chair and preparing to nap. The battle last night had completely drained his stamina.

Several hours later, Yang Yi slowly awoke.
He had slept for nine hours. His stamina was back to 83, his health to 92, but his frostbite was now unbearably itchy.
"Suna, do you want something to eat?" he asked.
No response. He walked over and noticed her breathing was rapid. Her status had worsened from 'Cold' to 'Severe Cold'.
"She drank the holy water, so why did her cold get worse?" he wondered, puzzled. Her core stats were stable; she just needed to rest.
He left her and went to «N.o.v.e.l.i.g.h.t» his cabin. The tireless skeletal arms had fully repaired the wall, though some had amusingly used their comrades as filler material. The room was even warmer than before.
He got the Nyxstar moving again and then found the pot he'd made from the Iron-Crested Jellyfish. He moved the campfire to the bow and started cooking. He tossed in torn-up bread, dried fish, sausage, salt, and a splash of the numbing jellyfish goo.
Once it was boiled into a thick stew, he ladled out a bowl for Suna, waking her up to eat something hot. After watching her drink it with a frown, he went back to the bow. He chugged an [Appetizer Potion] and devoured the rest of the stew himself.
Full and warm, he took the helm and began compiling his intel on the Pale Worm to sell to the big newspaper.
"Brother Song," he messaged, "I have monster intel to sell."
The reply was instant. "Send it over!"
He sent everything. There was a pause.
"My Sanity just dropped by 20 points," came the reply. "Let me have a cigarette…"
Cigarettes, he learned, were a limited-supply, Sanity-restoring consumable from the Farmer ship.
"This picture you took is too gruesome," Song said after reviewing the intel. "I'll have to add a warning. This info is very detailed… I can give you a price of 8,000 Conch Coins for it."
Yang Yi's eyes lit up. Pictures really were worth several thousand coins. They sealed the deal.
He messaged Suna. "Is your cold any better?"
Silence. She was probably still sleeping. He checked her panel; her stats were stable, but the 'Severe Cold' status remained.
Until she recovered, he would have to keep watch himself. The sky was still dark. He didn't dare to fish. He just steered the Nyxstar onward, occasionally stopping to fire a cannonball at any large ice floes, just in case they were more living icebergs in disguise.
