Grand Voyage: I Start My Journey With A Ghost Ship!

chapter 74

The fight near the giant ship continues, but it's quieting down.
At first, Yang Yi’s wild, self-harming tactics had given the Brain-Eater a hell of a time, but as he loses control of his own body, he can’t fight back anymore. He's lying on the ground, only his right leg still under his command, the rest of his body a prison. He bitterly regrets not practicing his high kicks; he could have definitely kicked the head on his left shoulder until it exploded.
The Brain-Eater isn't looking much better. Her face is swollen into a purple pulp.
"Would've been better if you'd just behaved from the start, honestly!" she slurs, her voice airy and whistling through the gaps where her teeth used to be. Both of her eyes are swollen shut like ripe peaches.
But she is the victor. Of this, there is no doubt.
"What's with that look in your eyes?" she snaps.
Yang Yi is turning his head, glaring at her fiercely with his two completely different eyes. It's a bluff. He's completely blind right now, his third eye's time limit having expired. But he's not about to let her know that. Two streams of bright red blood running from his nostrils only make him look more menacing.
Time passes, second by second.

He can feel one of her tentacles snaking up his spine, aiming for his brain. It doesn’t hurt. In fact, it feels… pleasant, a clear sign her secretions are messing with his will to resist. In a minute, maybe less, it'll reach its destination. At that point, it will be an irreversible, desperate situation.
"You really are tenacious, lasting this long," she says, her tone superior. "You know, that other woman only lasted a dozen seconds or so."
"You think you've won?" Yang Yi says coldly.
"Of course," she retorts. "You're not going to flip the heavens, are you?"
He has no time to explain the insane plan currently blooming in his mind: to use a spell. [Limb Restoration]. The target? The Brain-Eater herself.
The Book of the Limb Spider teaches that any living thing is composed of a Body (the brain), a Vessel (the torso), and Limbs (everything else). Someone else's head counts as a Limb. He can use the spell to attach her head to his left shoulder. Permanently. Just like in his nightmare.
A mad, terrifying grin spreads across his face. "You wanted my body, right? Well, let's get a little more… thoroughly combined!"
"What?" The single word is laced with newfound panic.
The next second, the spell activates. Strange symbols, the script of the Limb Spider, emerge from his left shoulder and crawl across her swollen face.
"Wh-what is this?!" she shrieks, trying to pull away. But she can’t. Her tentacles are still embedded deep inside him. She's trapped herself.
The symbols morph, sprout legs, and become a swarm of tiny spiders. They scurry over her skin, spitting silk threads and, like demonic tailors, stitching her head to his shoulder, flesh to flesh, bone to bone, until they are ➤ NоvеⅠight ➤ (Read more on our source) inseparable.
And just like that, Yang Yi gains influence over her body. Her tentacles.
A new, silent battle begins.
The Brain-Eater is horrified to find her own tentacles are no longer obeying her. They're locked in a war for control. One of her external tentacles goes rogue and whips her across the face, leaving a deep purple welt.
"What on earth did you do to me?!" she screams, utterly panicked.
For a few minutes, the battle of wills is a stalemate, but Yang Yi is tiring. His reaction speed, his mind itself, just can't keep up with hers. Control begins to slip away again. The tentacle in his neck resumes its slow, inexorable climb.
Dammit! he thinks viciously. If I had enough mana, I'd definitely use [Limb Explosion] to blow us both up!
His thoughts, his raw nerve signals, travel to her.
"Limb Explosion? You're a heretic of the Limb Spider Cult?" she curses. She'd heard of the freaks who stitch random body parts onto themselves, calling it evolution. She can win this. She will win this. He's out of mana.
But then, Yang Yi's next thought hits her like a plunge into an icy abyss.
Fuck! I really can't hold on! If it really comes to it…
"If it comes to what?"
"…I'll have no choice but to settle for the next best thing and use the [Summoning of the Mother of Ten Thousand Limbs]! I'll offer this monster to her as a snack!"
"YOU'RE INSANE!!!!" The signal she receives is pure, unadulterated terror, scaring the soul right out of her.
