chapter 61
Yang Yi has just stepped back onto the deck when another earth-shattering tremor rocks the Nightmare. The entire island shudders violently, convulsing for a full two minutes before it finally surrenders to the sea, sinking completely beneath the waves. Along with it [N O V E L I G H T] vanishes the bizarre nest—the temple—that housed the [Book of the Limb Spider]. He feels no sense of loss.
Some god-tier miracles are better left buried, he thinks. The deep, dark abyss is the only place they belong!
He seizes the helm of the Nightmare, spinning the ship around and setting a direct course for the Extreme Winter Sea. He's lingered here too long; the black fog at his back has been a constant, creeping pursuer.
Down in his cabin, Yang Yi gets to work. He has 31 sweaters to knit, a task that will drain 93 points of stamina. It looks like the next couple of days are going to be a real knit-a-thon. He falls into a rhythm: knit when he has stamina, rest or sleep when he doesn't, chugging one of Suna's Appetizer Potions somewhere in between.
By noon the next day, the final sweater is done. He immediately starts pinging his buyers. First up is Yu Dawei, captain of the Iron Will. A straightforward guy, he'd even gifted Yang Yi some [Giant Bobbit Worm meat] before. Definitely a connection worth keeping. Yang Yi sells him a set for 2000 Conch Coins.
Yu Dawei doesn't stop there, purchasing four more sets at 4000 a pop for his underlings.
According to him, the Extreme Winter Sea is no joke. Massive icebergs drift through the waters—what you see on the surface is just the tip. Temperatures plummet to over ten degrees below zero, supplies are scarce, and getting skunked while fishing is the norm. Worse, a thick, white fog blankets the deeper regions. Xu Da hasn't dared to enter it himself, but he warns the temperature inside is probably even lower. Yang Yi thanks him for the info.
He spends the next while selling off three more sets to players who had left messages earlier, bringing the total to nine sold. Time to hit up his other contacts; it's faster than spamming the world channel and a good way to stay on people's radar.
The rest? He plans to dump them all on Shen Guanquan. That guy's appetite for goods is insatiable. First, though, he tries Zhou Dai, captain of the Radiant Goddess. She’s got to be loaded. Plus, her holy water has saved his ass multiple times. After waiting fifteen minutes with no reply, he figures she's not interested and moves on. He messages the expert angler, He Qi. The reply is almost instant.
He Qi: "Sorry, was just landing a big one."
Attached is a picture of an oarfish, nearly five meters long.
Yang Yi: "Who the hell asked about your fish?"
He Qi: "Haha, sweater's not bad, but I don't need it. I've got something better!"
He sends over an item description. It’s the [Fluffy Seal Parka]. The exquisite quality, waterproof, stinky-when-worn-too-long parka. Yang Yi stares, speechless again. This goddamn fisherman.
"Brother He," he types, "you selling that coat? I just came into a massive fortune."
"Not a chance!" He Qi replies. "It’s the only one I have!"
Yang Yi tries a different angle. "You know, a sweater isn't a bad look. Really shows off the physique."
"Piss off! Show off my physique to the great blue sea? You trying to seduce a passing siren?"
The conversation goes exactly as it did in Yang Yi's worst nightmares, ending with He Qi's special ship skills that seem to siphon all the fishing luck in the damn ocean directly into his greedy hands. Stunned and defeated, Yang Yi sells the last six sets to Shen Guanquan, bringing his grand total to a whopping 76,800 Conch Coins.
Time for a serious upgrade. He doesn't need potions—Suna's foul-tasting brews are top-of-the-line—but everything else is on the table. He messages her first. "Need anything?"
"If you're so loaded, just wire the money to me. I'm broke!" comes the blunt reply.
Yang Yi just shakes his head, transferring 6800 coins to her.
"And make me another one of those [Scarlet Potions], just in case," he adds.
"Making it for you right now!" The influx of cash has magically improved her mood.
He considers selling his 54 bottles of [Vitality Coconut Cooler], but decides against it. Suna, with her low Reason, can't risk his potions. The coconut drinks are for her. With her taken care of, he dives into the market channel, his mind buzzing with possibilities. A grand shopping spree is about to begin.
