Gourmet: Midnight Vending

Chapter 175: The Resort Owner's Invitation

If only everyone in this world could be this happy.

Chen Mo thought secretly, feeling that his heart was too kind.

Zhou Xintong ate with delight, and the feeling of eating without any reservations was just too wonderful. Just now, her mom said it was too spicy and told her to eat less, but her dad immediately stood up for her.

"When I was a kid, I'd wait every week just to eat this, no problem! Just let the kid eat, and besides, turn around and look, what this young boss uses is all genuine ingredients, absolutely nothing to worry about. Eat up!"

Jing Zhaodi had no choice but to agree.

Outside the food truck, there were still many chickens soaking in the basin, and Jing Zhaodi just saw the food bags handed out by the girls from the truck printed with the Pang Donglai logo.

Having lived in Xuchang for so many years, the couple had an inexplicable sense of trust in all the goods from this supermarket.

Since the chickens were bought from Pang Donglai, there was nothing more to say; the quality certainly wouldn't be a problem.

Just when the whole family was enjoying their meal, nearby Li Xiaobo, who seemed grumpy earlier, suddenly perked up, patted the dust off his clothes, tidied his hair, and headed toward a Mercedes E300 that had just come out of the resort gate.

Chen Mo noticed too, but didn't pay much attention.

He just felt that this spot wasn't ideal for setting up a stall. It was almost half-past ten, and there were only three customers.

There were a few customers who came here for the hot springs, but their eyes didn't linger on these two stalls for even a second.

However, Chen Mo thought this was normal. If every time he set up a stall a bunch of people inexplicably showed up, that would be truly bizarre.

Li Xiaobo ran over to the car, and the Mercedes stopped accordingly.

"Hey, President Wen! Cousin! You heading out?"

The man in the back seat of the Mercedes rolled down the window. "Xiaobo? How's business today?"

Wen Zhiliang of the resort was Li Xiaobo's distant cousin and also the owner of this resort.

If it weren't for Wen Zhiliang's approval, Li Xiaobo would have been kicked out on the first day he set up his stall. However, there were other reasons he could stay this long.

Li Xiaobo didn't feel embarrassed at all, "Heh, I'm thinking with the weather getting hotter these days, your business should get better. I saw a lot of merchants moved in yesterday, look at mine..."

The resort does its best business during the summer and winter seasons, and to provide more comprehensive services to guests, Wen Zhiliang had built a row of food stalls in the hot spring area a few years back.

Any food vendor moving in must give him 5% of their operating profits.

Though it sounds a lot, many still want to move in. After all, stinky tofu selling for 8 Yuan outside can sell for 10 Yuan here, and even with a 5% cut, the rest is still more profitable than outside.

What's more, after adding food stalls in the hot spring area, more people came for the hot springs than before.

Li Xiaobo realized this business opportunity and managed to establish some kinship with Wen Zhiliang, but Wen Zhiliang didn't take a liking to his one-Yuan-per-skewer bobo chicken and had never agreed for him to set up a stall inside.

"Your stuff won't work inside, why don't you check out what people inside actually sell?" Wen Zhiliang was a bit impatient and speechless, "Others are selling 10-Yuan sausages, 35-Yuan fruit bowls, 20-Yuan fried yogurt, you get me?"

Li Xiaobo immediately stood straight, "Of course I do! If I go in, I'll sell my bobo chicken for 3 Yuan a skewer!"

Wen Zhiliang was dumbfounded by this distant cousin.

Why doesn't this kid get the point?

Then Wen Zhiliang pointed to a newly arrived yellow food truck nearby, "See that? If you were like them, I'd let you in without a word!"

"Why?"

"Look at them, at first glance you get a sense of cleanliness and hygiene."

Li Xiaobo turned to look, initially thinking the young boss with those girls at the stall was just putting on airs, and didn't pay attention to the food and the truck, but now that he examined it, it seemed legit.

This truck was scrubbed spotlessly clean. Despite being seven or eight meters long, it was almost free of any stains.

Plus, the dining utensils used by the three customers at the front of the truck looked quite fancy. Then, looking back at his own... a simple welded steel frame mounted with four wheels, a few big bowls on the table, even some spilled oil stains.

"Moreover, when they place that chicken rack there, it gives people a visual shock! You know what I mean by visual shock? Just makes you wanna eat... Oh? When did this guy come?"

Wen Zhiliang got out of the car and walked to the side of the yellow food truck, "Bobo chicken? Young boss, may I ask where is this bobo chicken snack from?"

"Sichuan." Chen Mo replied straightforwardly.

"Tsk, looks pretty good, let me have a serving to try."

Wen Zhiliang's driver smartly helped his boss scan and pay 8 Yuan, making Li Xiaobo grit his teeth in anger.

You haven't finished talking to me yet, and now you're eating here?

And even if my small food truck doesn't look as fancy as this big one, my stuff's pretty tasty!

Wen Zhiliang watched as Lu Yingqiu used a pestle to pound various parts of the chicken, finding this technique rather interesting.

Then he observed as Chen Mo pulled apart the tenderized chicken, putting it into a lunch box, drizzling red seasoning sauce over it, and adding green scallions.

A serving of bobo chicken was habitually sniffed first, "This smells good! And is it considered a cold dish?"

The resort's food stalls weren't fond of items with hot soup; there are lots of kids here, and a careless spill could burn someone, which could entail some responsibility.

Chen Mo just smiled without saying anything.

Wen Zhiliang used disposable chopsticks, exactly like Zhou Xudong, and in one go lifted all the meat strips from the bowl.

"Mmmph..."

This boss made quite a noise when eating; of course, it's not reflective of poor dining habits, but rather, Wen Zhiliang was making an effort to let his tongue and palate repeatedly interact to savor the charm of this snack.

"Spicy, salty, fresh, fragrant, not bad, not bad." Wen Zhiliang placed the leftover lunch box on the showcase, his gaze scanning the condiment bags and frozen chicken bags inside the food truck.

Both had the conspicuous Pang Donglai logo printed on them.

Oh? Still buying ingredients from Pang Donglai?

This young boss seems quite particular.

Wen Zhiliang glanced sideways at Li Xiaobo, then turned back, "So, young boss, interested in cooperating with me?"

"What do you mean?"

Wen Zhiliang pointed to the gate of his resort, "You set up shop inside, I'll provide the space, and 5% of your operating profits as the venue fee."

Chen Mo was about to refuse immediately.

The fee was reasonable, and foot traffic inside would definitely be much higher than at this spot.

But there was a question, would giving up 5% of profits affect the experience value he earned for the food truck?

If so, it would not be worthwhile.

Wen Zhiliang seemed to see Chen Mo's doubt, "If your daily sales exceed 5,000 Yuan, you can skip the venue fee and even receive complimentary adult tickets to the resort. If your daily sales exceed 10,000 Yuan, my resort will reward you! If your daily sales reach... Well, never mind. That's the deal."

Regardless of Chen Mo's considerations.

The three ladies' eyes suddenly lit up.

Such a good deal?

Knowing how good Boss Xiao Chen's culinary skills were, Yino and Shasha exchanged a glance, conveying the same message.

Isn't this just a freebie?
