Chapter 379 Unkind Visitors

Among the five antiques, including the Pot of Greed, a total of three items emitted a faint aura of Nen.

This result was beyond Law's expectations.

He bent down to examine the other four antiques, casually absorbing the residual Nen from them into his body, slightly increasing his Nen Categories slightly.

After a moment, the White Smoke Font identified the value of these antiques. Combined with the Pot of Greed, their total worth exceeded 120 million.

"Good job."

This unexpected windfall prompted Law to praise Kuro for once, and then he unloaded the ten antiques he was carrying onto the ground.

Kuro had brought four extra antiques, making Law feel as though he had stumbled upon free money.

Along with the antiques he had acquired earlier, the total value had surely surpassed 500 million, and this was just the result of two hours of work.

'I had only explored a little over half of Vulture Street. If I continue walking around, I could likely uncover a few more hundred of millions' worth of treasures.'

"I'll leave these to you."

Law pointed at the pile of antiques on the ground.

"I'm not a suitcase!" Kuro's face immediately darkened further as he looked at the pile of things on the ground.

"Take good care of them. If even one goes missing, I promise you, the black pages won't be increasing anymore."

Law didn't care about Kuro's feelings at all. He casually out the threat before heading out of the alley. He intended to keep scouring the stalls until he had combed through every last one.

Kuro watched Law's retreating back, grinding his teeth in frustration, but there was nothing he could do.

With a grimace, he opened his mouth and swallowed all fifteen antiques, each reeking of damp earth, storing them in a unique, fixed space within his body.

Then, he dashed out of the alley and leaped onto Law's shoulder.

At this time, Master Zeras's appraisal event was still ongoing. Law felt that just the appraisal fees alone must have filled his coffers nicely.

Law didn't bother asking Kuro about the details of how he had snatched the antiques, nor was he particularly interested. He glanced at the crowd gathered in the center of Vulture Street from a distance, then retracted his gaze and continued to stroll around Vulture Street to sweep up the antiques imbued with Nen.

Time passed slowly, and before long, another hour had slipped by.

By the time the crowd at the center of Vulture Street dispersed, Law had finished combing through the remaining stalls.

He had acquired five more antiques in the process, and without realizing it, he only had a few hundred thousand Jenny left.

If he didn't liquidate these antiques soon, he'd be flat broke in no time.

Since he had already cleared out all the Nen-infused items, there was no point in lingering, so Law decided it was time to leave.

There were a lot of people on Vulture Street, and it was impossible for Law to stuff the five antiques on his body directly into Kuro under the watchful eyes of the crowd.

He made his way toward the outer streets, looking for a secluded alley where he could handle a few matters in private.

While scavenging for artifacts, he had noticed several pairs of eyes watching him from the shadows. When Master Zeras's appraisal event was over, the number of prying gazes had noticeably increased to over a dozen.

Law pretended not to notice and calmly finished his sweep before preparing to deal with these little tails.

"Just kill them!" Kuro whispered eagerly into Law's ear.

"Do you think this is just some random city?"

Law casually pointed at the soldiers patrolling Vulture Street, they were soldiers directly under the jurisdiction of the Elba Oasis Kingdom. They were all tall and strong, wearing leather armor and carrying cold weapons. A few of them also carried old-fashioned flintlock rifles.

"So what?"

Kuro glanced at the patrolling soldiers, then subtly scanned the locations of the hidden watchers, and said coldly: "All you need to do is shake off their pursuit. I'll handle the rest."

Law kept his eyes forward, not directly responding to Kuro.

"Anyway, I can take the initiative to attack anyone who poses a threat to you. You have no right to stop me."

Kuro turned his head to glare at the silent Law, licking his sharp claws with a cold glint in his silver eyes.

If he wanted to take action, he would kill them and stain the pages of the book black.

"Whether they deserve death or not is for me to decide." Law said calmly.

Kuro frowned and said angrily, "They're clearly after you with ill intentions. Why show them any mercy? Just kill them!"

Law ignored Kuro and walked straight into a secluded alley.

The biggest difference between him and Kuro was rationality.

As a Nen Beast, Kuro possessed high intelligence and an independent soul, but he lacked the rationality inherent to humans.

Even without the factor of the black pages, Kuro could kill without the slightest psychological burden, just as humans could casually crush one or even a swarm of ants underfoot.

Therefore, without caring about the extent of their ill intentions, Kuro had immediately decided to slaughter them all.

Law wasn't a complete cold-blooded creature, so naturally, he couldn't simply go along with Kuro's whims. However, he also couldn't stop Kuro outright, because as long as an enemy posed a threat to him, Kuro had the right to act on his own.

Seeing Law's silence, Kuro didn't need to think hard to know that Law would decide what to do based on the situation.

But in his mind, since he had helped Law secure five artifacts and even stored them for him, he felt killing those with ill intentions shouldn't be an issue. Surely, Law wouldn't hold it against him afterward.

At that moment, Kuro had already made up his mind and he would ignore Law's earlier threat.

As Law walked deeper into the alley, the hidden gazes that had been watching him suddenly grew bolder, and when Law stopped at a dead end, the pursuers revealed themselves outright.

The buildings in Alba Oasis were densely packed, and the alley was narrow. Since most structures had sun-blocking curtains, even in broad daylight, the alley remained dimly lit.

Ahead of the dead end was an intersection, where a group of people abruptly gathered, blocking Law's path and cutting off even more light.

There were fifteen of them in total. Due to the alley's narrow width, they stood in a loose, queue-like formation.

When they appeared, none of them spoke or stated their intentions. Instead, they all drew short blades from their loose clothing, though no killing intent radiated from them. Perhaps they were only after money.

At that moment, before Law could decide how to deal with them, Kuro suddenly moved.

Swish!

His small body transformed into a black streak of lightning, flashing before the group in an instant.

With a single swipe of his claws, in mere seconds, a thin red line appeared across each of their throats. Almost simultaneously, blood sprayed out.

Without even a scream, they fell to the ground, covering their necks.

Kuro landed softly amidst the corpses, his paws soon soaked in spreading pools of blood.

He slowly turned his head, looking at Law's expressionless face, then raised his blood-stained claws and licked the blood with his tongue, forming an eerie and chilling scene.

This sight would have been enough to make an ordinary person's legs go weak with fear, but Law was no ordinary man. He stared coldly at Kuro, his brow slightly furrowed.

Since the other party had come with hostile intent and drawn their weapons, killing them wasn't unjustified. However, Law doesn't like Kuro acting on his own, but he knew this was an unavoidable side effect of the black cat possessing an independent soul, and it is something he can't do anything about, as it contains the laws of Vows and Limitation.

Precisely because Kuro possessed independent intelligence and a soul, he could carry out tasks with human-like efficiency and precision. But for the same reason, Kuro also knew how to exploit the rules to his advantage.

'To gain something, one must pay an equal price.' This phrase could also be used to interpret the principle of Nen System's Vows and Limitation.

Unless Law was willing to discard the unique advantages Kuro offered as a Nen Beast, this flaw would always remain.

"There are two more. I'll leave the one above to you." Kuro suddenly said.

Outside the alley, against the wall, Master Zeras lay collapsed on the ground, trembling uncontrollably in sheer terror.

As for the person on the rooftop, the moment they saw Kuro killing the others, they had immediately fled.

Kuro knew there were two more hiding, and of course, so did Law.

There was no time to dwell on it now. He quickly took off his coat, wrapped the five ancient artifacts in it, and bundled them together.

Holding the package in one hand, he leaped into the air, landing effortlessly on the four-story-high rooftop.

Looking into the distance, several hundred meters away, a figure was desperately fleeing. It was the wheat-skinned woman.

Back in the alley, Kuro, who was still dripping with blood, walked step by step to the intersection.

Master Zeras's eyes slowly reflected Kuro's approaching figure.
