Chapter 370: Noah, Do You Think I Don't Dare to Kill You? (Part 2)
"Heh, what if the Dragon Clan appear in swarms?"
The Baron tossed out a Battlefield Recording Crystal he had acquired at great expense. It was after seeing the contents recorded within this crystal that he realized his son had become a Flame Sun Knight, leading to his breakdown.
Once a family becomes a Divine Favored, they lose the privilege to refuse the summons of the Church.
While enjoying numerous benefits, the Divine Favored Nobles must also bear their obligations, and fighting for the glory of the Church is one of those responsibilities.
But they haven't even enjoyed their rights before fulfilling obligations. To set foot on such a battlefield, how is it any different from marching to one's death?
The young man, full of confusion, activated the crystal, and the images projected from it left this fanatically devout youth stunned on the spot.
Giant Dragons like mountains danced in the sky, Dragon Scales so hard that even bed crossbows could not penetrate them, shimmering with cold metallic luster. The elements, gathering in swarms under the power of the Dragon Clan, transformed into a terrifying Elemental Torrent that washed over the ground.
Blood quickly stained the earth red, severed limbs flew through the air, and streams of blood mixed with flesh flowed across the land, creating a scene of Purgatory, with the remaining soldiers' faces showing uncontainable fear and despair.
This was just the terrible scenery created by one member of the Dragon Clan, a Bronze Giant Dragon as massive as a mountain, merely circling in the sky delivering a round of Spell attacks below, destroying the legion, and in the far view projected by the crystal, there were dozens to hundreds of such Giant Dragons, difficult to count at once.
"How can there be so many Dragons?"
No matter how pious one's faith, it cannot erase the chasm with reality. Even as a fervent believer, Lune had to admit that without the intervention of a Legend, an ordinary army couldn't possibly stand against such a Dragon Clan.
"It's said that the Lord of Flame Sun sent a Divine Heir to assassinate the Holy Dragon, but unfortunately, the Holy Dragon survived, so it declared war on the Holy Nation."
"That's impossible!"
Upon hearing his father's explanation for the war, Lu Wen instinctively refuted. How could Your Majesty, wielding the Power of the Sun, commit such sordid and shameless acts? It contradicts the image described in the doctrines of the Church.
"Arguing with me won't help; you can go talk to those Dragons instead."
"..."
Glancing at his silent offspring, the Baron calmed himself and made a decision,
"You should soon receive a summons from the Church, and I too will likely be within the range for summons to go with you. However, the family must not be destroyed, so I've decided to sell and divide our assets, ensuring the family's survival."
It happened just as the Baron expected. His son returned, barely having time to sit before the Church's orders followed closely, conscripting the entire family as Divine Favored Nobles.
The Baron did not resist this order. Although he didn't hold much hope for the Holy Nation's victory in this war, he didn't believe the Holy Nation would be annihilated; after all, it was a country favored by the Divine.
However, once integrated into the army by the Church's orders and stepping onto the battlefield, the father and son realized that even with preparation for a harsh battlefield environment, they had still greatly underestimated it.
Boom~
The scorching river of flames, the leaping, furious thunder, the deadening frost... Even swarming across the sky, the Dragons didn't need to employ intricate spells. Simply breathing Dragon Breath brought mass destruction and collapse to all the armies on the battlefield.
This was a massacre, an extremely disproportionate war. The Holy Nation's hard-gathered aerial force, facing the Dragon cluster formed by the Giant Dragons, couldn't even talk about contesting air superiority, they were there to deliver treats.
New recruits, upon stepping onto the battlefield and seeing the enemy, couldn't even touch them, only to passively and humiliatingly receive one-sided massacre, until Wayne encountered the land forces of the Dragon Country.
"I am the noble Flame Sun Knight, filthy mixed-blood Giant, sinful heresy, face your judgment!"
Faced with a Golden Dragon Giant more than twice his size, the devout and determined young man charged fearlessly across the battlefield at the Giant, wanting to prove his devotion to the Lord of Flame Sun.
Facing this God Grace Knight who fearlessly, or maybe foolishly, charged at him, the frontline Dragon-man of the Battle Group swung a square Warhammer and smashed down,
Boom~
Chunks of flesh and bone splintered with shattered metal fragments, fanning out evenly over the ground. Of course, many pierced directly through the bodies of those around, causing instant, severe injury.
This was one-sided slaughter, as the Dragon-men walking the battlefield were all equipped with standard-issue Magic Movement Armor; these splash damages couldn't even scratch the paint on their armor.
"..."
Cold, unfeeling eyes swept over two errant legs wavering in the air before falling into the bloody mire; the Battle Group Dragon-man continued forward, wielding his Warhammer, aiming for new targets to smash.
As for this human Knight who had bravely charged, yet was crushed to just two legs, the Dragon-man forgot him in an instant, leaving not a shred of memory.
Because he had dealt with too many similar God Grace Knights on the battlefield, there was no need to remember, only to record their numbers for calculating battle achievements after the skirmish.
"No, Lune!"
Also forced onto the battlefield, the Baron happened upon witnessing his son's tragic fate, hammered down to only two legs. Although similar scenes unfolded constantly around him, experiencing it personally was undeniably intolerable.
"Great Lord of Flame Sun, you watch as your lambs are slaughtered by heretics, how long will your silence last, until we are all extinct?"
Desperate cries echoed throughout the battlefield. This defensive war had marshaled a third of the Holy Nation's armed forces, and failure again would see half of the Holy Nation's land fall, with the remainder inevitably collapsing without Divine intervention.
Amid despairing cries and prayers from tens of thousands of devout followers, holy radiance erupted from the battlefield's center, sweeping across the field with the majesty and Domain of the Divine.
The previously unchecked movements of the Battle Group Dragon-men on the battlefield started to slow, becoming laborious, while the airborne Dragons immediately distanced from the battlefield's center.
Yet, amid this battlefield upheaval, one Giant Dragon advanced instead of retreating. This Dragon had always circled the battlefield without intervening, observing the war's course.
Now, golden holy light erupted from its body, forming halos that enveloped its form, appearing from afar like a golden Sun descending from the Sky Dome. Endless light and heat radiated from its form, but this time, the light was no longer just warm, transforming into swords that pierced through the battlefield, striking every devoted believer of the Lord of Flame Sun.
Noah had no qualms about slaughtering the weak on the battlefield. Once you step onto the battlefield, there's no strong or weak, only friend and foe. The more he killed, the less threat his Favored faced, indirectly reducing his subordinate forces' losses.
"Noah! You've gone too far. Do you think I don't dare to kill you?"
On the battlefield, a layer of flesh and blood-coated mud was set ablaze with surging flames, under whose shroud the vile flesh slowly melted and dissolved, gathering towards the battlefield's center into a Golden Cocoon.
However, as the Giant Cocoon formed, it was torn from within, and a majestic presence enveloped in Corona Divine Light, radiating grand sun brilliance, emerged.
