Chapter 364: Revenge
"Flame Sun Sovereign, Heliers, Moonlight Goddess, Siona, Storm God, Orest, Earth Guardian, Master of Stealth..."
Noah summarized the names of several Divines his Angel Companion had overheard, his gaze devoid of sorrow or joy, revealing little emotion. Yet, the more it was so, the more it made the Great Angel Leader Ophelia tense on the opposite side.
She had truthfully informed him of everything that happened while this Dragon was asleep, including the origins of the entire team and the Divines supporting them.
"Noah, don't be too angry. Although these God Hunters have quite a few Divines behind them, only the Flame Sun Sovereign harbors hostility towards you.
The other Divines were probably forced into this due to pacts between the gods, and they likely do not hold any malice towards you.
From the perspective of the Divine Position Domain, you pose no threat to them, so they have no reason to act against you."
"From the perspective of the Divine Position Domain, I also do not pose a threat to that Flame Sun Sovereign."
Noah extended his Dragon Claw, rubbing his belly, and realized why he felt so bloated upon awakening. He had devoured the avatar of a Divine who had completed a Divine Descent, plus several Divine descendants with little difference, leading to temporary indigestion, which was expected.
Each of these individuals harbored Divine Power, everyone possessed Divinity, such high-level strength. Even as an Ancestor Dragon, it would take a long time to digest and absorb it all.
"I never planned to pursue Divine Enthronement. I didn't even know this fellow beforehand, yet he's now decided to act against me."
"Noah, even I can't determine if you're lying right now. Do you still expect a Divine, whose Divine Position Domain is directly threatened by you, to remain indifferent?"
Hearing this Dragon proclaim once again that he would not pursue Divine Enthronement, the Great Angel Leader felt a headache.
As a Companion, she had her doubts about believing this Dragon's words, let alone the other Divines.
"You don't believe me?"
"You've been collecting the souls of believers, so how do you expect me to believe your declaration against pursuing Divine Enthronement?"
Before being subjected to negative energy corruption, mortals couldn't see souls, but this didn't include a Great Angel Leader from Heaven.
During the time she assisted the eldest son in managing her Companion's domain, she had witnessed too many Dragon-men reaching the end of their lives, with their souls ultimately destined to Noah's realm.
Although she had yet to understand how Noah accomplished this, it didn't prevent her from making a judgment, as in the Material Realm, there were only two kinds of entities that actively collected souls.
One was Evil Demons from Lower Planes that fed on souls, and the other was Ascenders preparing for Divine Enthronement. Although there were significant differences between the two, to the Divines, there was no essential distinction between them, and both needed to be severely countered.
"I just want to provide a soul haven for those Dragon-men willing to follow me. Would you stand by and watch your warriors' souls ultimately flow into the Nether River after dying in battle for you?"
Noah argued.
He knew his explanation and declaration were somewhat absurd. In a way, it seemed like an insult to the intelligence of the Divines, but even so, he had to make the declaration because he truly didn't intend to pursue Divine Enthronement.
"Of course not, but do you think such an explanation will convince anyone to believe you?"
"They've already attempted an ignoble assassination against me. Is there still a need for me to explain to them? I just want you to understand my thoughts."
Noah let out a cold laugh, then lowered his head, looking seriously at the Great Angel before him.
If not for Ophelia's efforts on his behalf, he wouldn't have immediately known which Divines stood behind those assassins upon awakening.
"Is this truly your thought? You have no plans to become a Dragon God?"
The Angel's pure, flawless delicate face bore a look of suspicion.
"Of course. Why would I want to become a Dragon God? Even if I became a Dragon God, why would I invade such critical Divine Positions as 'Sun' and 'Light', competing with those long-standing, strong Divine Powers? That would be too foolish."
Noah's response was well-reasoned and well-founded.
Before vacancies appear in these significant Divine Positions, no Ascender would touch these obviously powerful Divine Position Domains. That's courting death.
The correct path to Ascension is to aim to become a Weak Divine Power, picking those unnoticed corners overlooked by the gods. Though much weaker, the pressure of deification would be much less, and if successful, immortality can ultimately be attained.
"Sun", "Moon", "Earth", "Ocean", "Sky"... These powerful Divine Position Domains, even when fragmented, could create multiple strong Divine Powers. Even extending downward, they could form a vast God system.
Therefore, without any special background, do not touch them. Even with a background, it's best not to touch them because, in the face of such Divine Position Domains, unless supported by a Great Divine Power, even ordinary strong Divine Power wouldn't suffice.
"But all your current actions are revealing your inclination to become a Dragon God."
"I'm helpless about this. There's some power I didn't really want, but it came to me anyway. Now that I have it, I can't just not use it, right?"
Innocence appeared on Noah's face. The uniqueness of Word Spirit was something he hadn't anticipated at all.
