Chapter 362
"The dragon has already fallen asleep, what can I do?"
Noticing the gaze of the handsome minstrel, a petite girl with curly pink hair fluttered her eyes like emeralds, revealing a playful and lively smile, as if she was acting coquettishly.
"I know your abilities aren't just to make people sleep. Can you try to penetrate the dragon's dream and see what kind of sweet dream he is having?"
Charon suggested.
He knew the girl in front of him possessed a power that could unconditionally put targets to sleep, which was enough to accomplish most tasks without needing to enter dreams to kill.
But the problem was that their target was already asleep. From the surface, this Illusion Dream Mage seemed to be rendered useless, a redundant accessory in this war, with no real purpose.
"How do you know I haven't tried to enter his dream?"
Eve replied with a cheeky smile.
"When did you start the invasion?"
"I started when you guys set up the barrier."
"So you haven't succeeded yet?"
Karon couldn't help but sigh. When he learned the dragon was asleep, he felt the mage was half-wasted, and now it seems she is completely useless, unable to invade the dragon's dream.
"Almost there, you have to give me a little more time."
"Almost means how long?"
"Oh, don't rush me, I'm already trying my best!"
The girl hummed coquettishly, but as a seasoned minstrel in numerous events, Charon was impervious to such acts.
"Hurry up, don't dawdle."
"Got it!"
Under the minstrel's constant urging, the girl's eyes lit up, she clapped her hands, and then, her figure gradually faded, completely disappearing as the minstrel's gaze shifted from joy to apprehension.
"Truly an unpredictable ability!"
Charon could no longer perceive the existence of the Illusion Dream Mage in this fully sealed off space, but he knew the girl must have penetrated the Golden Dragon's dream.
"I wonder what the dragon's dream looks like. Hopefully, it will prove useful!"
Although the girl's past achievements were quite fierce, including independently hunting pseudo-gods, Charon wasn't too expectant of her.
This target was extraordinarily unique. Despite being asleep, with the soul completely dormant and unresponsive in thought, its body, without any conscious control, could still autonomously act and even contend with three beings capable of hunting demigods, occasionally snatching a bite.
"Such incompetence!"
Observing the Mountain Dome Monarch being partially devoured by the Golden Dragon from time to time, the detached hell poet critiqued cheerfully, with no intention of joining the fray.
To him, completing the task was naturally a good thing, earning the gods' rewards, but failing was also fine; they wouldn't punish them or have the ability to do so.
What spurred beings like them to hunt gods was often loyalty, responsibility, and duty, but most importantly, was interest. For instance, his pursuit was pure interest; if the gods didn't offer ample reward, he wouldn't budge.
"If the barrier breaks and we haven't hurt this Golden Dragon, I'll make a run for it."
Resolving this thought, Soron glanced at the Moon Crown Priest, who, like him, stayed outside the battlefield, only empowering temporary allies within.
Coincidentally, the woman glanced back at him as well, and the two, who possessed mature and elegant dispositions, smiled knowingly, conveying everything without words.
...
Amidst the boundless darkness, colorful nebulae swirled, with the crown of the Golden Tree rising among them. The Golden Dragon, entwined within and savoring the wondrous flavors of many fruits, suddenly paused, with a perplexed yet curious expression, lifting his head to gaze beyond the nebulae.
"What is this presence?"
After briefly pondering, though reluctant to leave the pleasant flavors of the fruits, the peculiar anomaly was unprecedented. Since the fruits wouldn't escape, Noah hesitated only slightly before departing the Golden Tree, beginning his flight beyond the nebulae.
"What is this? The Void?"
Set in darkness, Illusion Dream Mage Eve was both shocked and fearful, feeling uneasy as she surveyed the surroundings, witnessing an empty expanse with only distant stars light in sight.
Those lights were incredibly distant; although they signified this wasn't truly void, the vast distance was enough to instill despair in any determined soul.
"How can a dragon that long stays in the Material Realm have such a dream?"
Fear slowly surfaced unabashedly on the girl's face.
For this dream was too grand, beyond her control. As a mage whose attack method relied on dreams, she'd witnessed numerous strange dreams.
No matter how terrifying these dreams were, even if devoid of logic, defying common sense, she could always find patterns within them, seize control, then kill the source of the dream, and finally depart gracefully before the dream collapsed.
She feared not chaotic, illogical dreams, but feared ones with nothing in them. Though having encountered similar ones before, this was her first seeing such an expansive and vast dream.
