Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire

Chapter 319: Establishment of the Dragon Clan Academy and 90 Years of Compulsory Education (Part 2)

Noah believes that under this system, his territory can maximize the use of resources and talent. Everyone can find a suitable position based on their talent.

Even ordinary people without any particularly outstanding talents can achieve better living conditions through skill education.

The high and mighty Holy Dragon believes that the compulsory education system he established and the literacy campaign have already taken care of all groups on his territory subject to his rule. However, the Dragon Lords looking from the sidelines weren't satisfied.

Why is it that only the short-lived species can receive this so-called compulsory, but actually welfare, education?

They were clearly the first to follow the Holy Dragon, so why can't their children enjoy an education system that can develop their talents and potential?

Why can the children of the short-lived species be raised by their Great Lord, while the Dragon Lords have to raise their children themselves and invest resources?

It's unfair!

Seeing these Dragon Lords coming to him to seek balance, Noah could only helplessly make concessions and compromises. Since ancient times, it's been about fairness, not scarcity, even for dragons.

"Indeed, I didn't consider this thoroughly. However, what kind of education do you think your children need?"

When Noah spoke, all the noisy dragons quieted down. They looked at each other, and for a moment, no dragon spoke.

"Great Lord, what kind of education do you think our children need?"

"What do I think?"

Hearing the question thrown back at him, Noah was at a loss,

"You protest that the compulsory education I implemented didn't benefit your offspring. But all the short-lived species receiving compulsory education are concentrated in schools, receiving the same education. Do you think your children are suitable to gather together and receive the same education?"

"Why not?"

"I don't see why not."

"If the short-lived species can do it, why can't we, the Dragon Clan?"

To Noah's surprise, no dragon had any objection to the idea of gathering their children for education. They all hoped Noah could come up with a feasible and suitable education system for the Dragon Clan.

"Different Dragon Species have different needs for living and growing environments."

Noah expressed his consideration, noting that the reason he hadn't considered the Dragon Species was that dragons of different attributes weren't suitable for cohabitation.

"Your Lordship, my child is not as fragile as you imagine."

"Exactly, dragons can't always be in the most suitable environment. If faced with extreme danger or needing to go to battle, they need to adapt to the environment. I think it's excellent to receive corresponding education from a young age."

"I hope my child can receive your guidance and instruction."

Hearing the final response, Noah finally understood the intentions of the group before him. These Dragon Lords had probably reached a consensus; thus, no matter what real concerns Noah raised, they would not relent.

"Since you are all willing, I can attempt to establish a Dragon Academy."

After understanding the intentions of these individuals, Noah no longer declined and readily agreed. However, before they could show their smiles, Noah shifted his tone, causing their expressions to tense up again,

"However, given the racial differences between the Dragon Clan and the short-lived species, the time for education for the Dragon Clan will far exceed the twelve years for the short-lived species. You need to make this clear to your children and let them prepare."

"Your Highness, Noah, how many years do you think the Dragon Clan should be educated at least?"

A Bronze Dragon asked somewhat uneasily.

"Ordinary dragons reach adulthood at a hundred. Thus, I think the Dragon Clan needs at least sixty to ninety years of long-term education."

Noah declared, and the words immediately shocked all the Dragon Lords present.

"Ninety years of education? What kind of curriculum requires such a long time?"

"There are many, alchemy, magic potions, mechanical engineering, rune research, spell development... These are transcendent domains that take at least hundreds of years to achieve results. I think all are very suitable for the Dragon Clan."

Though initially unconsidered for the Dragon Clan, in response to the requests from the many Dragon Lords before him, Noah's mind suddenly sparked with many ideas.

If a Dragon Clan mechanical engineer could be cultivated, what kind of engineering achievements could be achieved with the Dragon Clan's lifespan scale, spanning millennia?

Just one would be unthinkable enough, let alone a group. What kind of engineering marvels would they create?

Thinking of this, Noah couldn't help but feel excited to the point of restlessness. That's why he proposed the outlandishly long education of ninety years.

"Your Lordship, I think your arrangement is very appropriate. Now I only have one question left: will you personally teach?"

"Of course, not only will I personally teach, but I will also hire Ancient Dragons as teachers for various subjects."

Even though the Dragon Academy remained nothing more than a verbal plan with no substantial planning, Noah had already begun sketching the scene of the academy emerging in his mind for the Dragon parents before him.

"I have no objections now."

"Your Highness Noah, when do you think the Dragon Academy can start classes?"

Seeing the group of highly enthusiastic Dragon parents before him, Noah had to bring up another extremely important issue,

"Establishing a Dragon Academy is not difficult, but I must declare one thing: the Dragon Academy can provide free education, but room and board require self-funding, or they can pay sufficient tuition for the academy to cover the student's room and board."

"Can't it be free? Doesn't the academy for the short-lived species have special free quotas? All our children combined won't exceed five hundred dragons, much less than the short-lived species?"

A Red Copper Dragon spoke expectantly, hoping Noah would cover everything.

"Isn't the word 'free' too extravagant for us Dragons? Besides, the quotas for short-lived species are for those in special poverty. Do any of you really relate to the word 'poverty'?"

Noah glanced coldly over them. He could take on the responsibility of educating their young dragons, but expecting him to cover room and board was wishful thinking.

"I am quite poor, relying on making money by telling stories in the tavern every day."

A Brass Dragon muttered quietly, but when it felt the gaze from the Great Lord, it obediently shut its mouth.

"If any of you truly face hardship and cannot afford the room and board for your children, they can apply for low-interest student loans from the academy, repayable by working for the academy after graduation!"

Noah proposed an alternative solution, considering that some dragons might indeed become impoverished overnight due to various unforeseen factors. To enable their younglings to receive a complete education smoothly and steadily, student loan assistance could be provided.

"This is unfair. Why can some short-lived species receive free education?"

However, there was still dissatisfaction, and protests were raised.

"This is to maintain fairness. These free quotas are a relief policy for the impoverished and weak among the short-lived species."

Noah immediately explained and then looked down at the protesting dragon. Under the ancestral authority, the dragons prostrated themselves,

"But you are the Dragon Clan. How bad can your children be? Even without any education, your children have the ability to repay their debts.

Unless your children are incapable of flying and hunting, the Dragon Academy won't provide any free policies beyond education."
