Chapter 190

When Seraphina was a child, her name frequently appeared among the very top on the lists of young prodigies in Skyreach Territory. Now, after stepping into the Tribulation Transcendence realm, her talent and achievement had elevated her to the Heaven's Prodigy List—an honor reserved for only the most outstanding geniuses across the territory.

To enter such a ranking while still so new to the realm was not only a testament to her strength but a statement to her unmatched cultivation potential. In Sun Moon City, where the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets cast an ever-present shadow, nearly everyone knew her name.

"No wonder she's so elegant and beautiful. That's Seraphina—the saint of Azure Origin Dao Sect!"

"Did you see her talk with Aether earlier? Beautiful women are always drawn to the strong."

"Ha! Exactly, like she'd go for some guy stuck at Core Formation for twenty years. Get real."

"Hmph, says you. How are you better?"

The air around the stone platform buzzed with talk and envy, awe and speculation.

On the ring, the seventh elder of the Silkrain family stepped forward, clutching the ring's edge with practiced composure. "So it's Her Royal Highness, the saint of Azure Origin Dao Sect. Your reputation precedes you—both beautiful and gifted."

Seraphina gave a calm, measured nod. "Please, Elder, let's begin." She bowed formally; her focus was sharp, all her emotions hidden behind a mask of dignity.

"Very well, let this old man witness the true power of the Azure Origin Dao sect's saint!" The elder's aura surged, spiritual energy cascading around him.

Seraphina's gaze swept the square—not for her opponent, but for that masked figure.

Aether. Where was he?

Gone. She clenched her jaw. He'd told her he would watch her challenge—hadn't he? Now he'd vanished, leaving her embarrassed in front of the entire city.

"Damn it, Aether, you liar!" Bitter frustration welled up within her. She'd sought out his approval and curiosity, only to find herself overlooked.

The Silkrain elder frowned, irritation breaking through his stoic mask. "Your Highness, the challenge has begun. If you don't focus, you'll lose before you start!"

Awakened by his words, Seraphina steeled her will. She would not allow anyone—even a mysterious genius like Aether—to undermine her pride. She released the pent-up storm of her spiritual energy, intent on showing all present the true depth of her abilities.

The two clashed, their figures blurring with speed, spiritual energy colliding in explosive waves of force that rattled the very air. Onlookers backed away as the air thickened with pressure, awe settling on their faces as Saint Seraphina's power radiated out in shimmering waves.

Night draped itself over Sun Moon City, yet the festival of lights and restless throng endured.

Ethan left the Peace Inn, gliding unnoticed through the bustling streets. Lanterns cast golden pools of warmth on the stone streets as merchants hawked their wares and laughter echoed from open windows.

He found himself at the entrance of Drunken Fragrance Pavilion, the most splendid and extravagant restaurant in all Sun Moon City. Styled in antique luxury, the doors were flanked by graceful attendants, each radiant in embroidered robes.

When the women caught sight of the black ghost mask, their eyes widened—a mix of thrill and apprehension.

This was no ordinary guest, but the notorious Aether, his strength and legend already the subject of rumor and longing. To even be considered a minor concubine or servant to one so powerful would be a step above drudgery.

"Sir Aether, welcome! May we show you to a table? Our Pavilion boasts the city's finest wine and cuisine," a maid's voice trilled, silken and eager.

Two more beauties pressed close, looping their arms through his and attempting to dazzle him with charm. Their bodies pressed, jade peaks brushing as they put forth every feminine trick in their arsenal.

But Ethan did not so much as blink.

An unseen force emanated from him, flicking the two maids backward as though they were leaves in a breeze. They tumbled awkwardly, cheeks flushed—then hurriedly bowed their heads in apology.

"Forgive us, sir. If you desire anything, please command."

Ethan's tone was cold and remote. "Take me to the third floor. The private room."

Relief showed on the women's faces. "At once, sir," the lead maid said. They led him up polished steps—a path that wound past tapestries and private alcoves bustling with the city's elite.

On the third floor, window-side private rooms were set apart by delicately carved screens and fine silk curtains. Nobles and scions of powerful clans dined within, laughter and conversation veiled behind etiquette and wealth.

As Ethan arrived at one door, a gentle voice greeted him. "Mr. Aether, this way please."

Eunice, clad in a long cyan dress, stepped aside to invite him. Her skin glowed with careful preparation, fine features blending nervousness and reserved excitement.

"Miss Eunice," the maids chorused, bowing. At her signal, they retreated, leaving only the two within the box.

Ethan entered in silence. The table groaned under dishes of rare delicacies, two bottles of exceptional wine, each presented with a flourish.

"Mr. Aether, please taste this beggar's chicken—a Drunken Fragrance Pavilion specialty. Treasure bird, slow-baked, infuses essence and enhances the body," Eunice said gently, personally serving him a portion.

Ethan didn't touch the food. His voice was sharp, distant. "Miss Eunice. You know I didn't come to eat."

She set her chopsticks down, face growing solemn.

Ethan's menta; energy pulsed out, forming an impregnable barrier around them. Only then did he speak again, voice low and dangerous.

"What's hidden beneath Sun Moon Lake?"

Eunice's eyes widened, caught off guard. Her lips pressed together, mind racing—there was no more room for denial.

He had heard enough from both her and Oswin. There was no longer any doubt: a true secret—perhaps even a calamity or heaven-defying opportunity—was sealed beneath the placid waters of Sun Moon Lake.

Otherwise, why would Oswin test himself?
