Chapter 142(Luxury Car Extra chapter)
This is really incredible!
Ethan's gaze sharpened as he carefully examined the ancient phoenix skeleton lying in the cave's dim light.
His eyes caught sight of a groove deeply carved into the chest cavity of the massive bones. Intrigued, he stepped closer for a better look.
Cradled within the groove rested an enormous egg, nearly the size of a human head.
Its surface gleamed with a polished luster, marked by vivid red lines tracing intricate patterns that pulsed faintly with a hidden energy.
Ethan's breath caught as he noticed fresh bright red blood pooling within the groove, its golden light rippling and flowing in the crimson tide.
The power radiating from that blood was staggering.
With steady hands, Ethan extended his palm and placed it on the egg's warm surface. The heat was intense, not burning but brimming with raw vitality.
Opening his Heaven-piercing Mind Eyes, he peered deep within the egg's shell. Inside, the delicate outline of a baby bird stirred—its form glowing faintly with the promise of life. A majestic heartbeat echoed through his mind, rhythmic and strong.
"Is this... a phoenix egg?" Ethan whispered, awe weaving through his voice.
The heartbeat was steady and vigorous, alive with the promise of imminent birth.
This was no ordinary creature.
Divine beasts were notoriously different from mundane monsters and spiritual beasts; born with eighth-level strength, their power rivaled that of human cultivators at the Tribulation Transcendence realm.
Such a strength base meant they could easily ascend to ninth-level rank monsters, and upon reaching adulthood, stand a step closer to supreme rank beasts—creatures that few could contend with.
Ethan's heart raced at the sheer possibilities. Ancient legends spoke of mythical beasts, those whose strength reached supreme levels, capable of challenging multiple human supremes simultaneously.
Having such a divine beast as his spiritual companion could transform his fortunes and power beyond measure.
Without hesitation, Ethan gently lifted the phoenix egg from its resting place. He knew that accelerating the growth of such a divine beast was straightforward—infusing it with powerful blood essence to nourish its life force.
From his pocket, Ethan produced a small bottle containing concentrated blood essence. Although human by nature, his blood burned with an intensity rivaling wild beasts, making it incredibly effective in promoting the hatching of divine eggs like this one.
He uncorked the bottle and carefully dripped a few precious drops onto the egg's surface. Instantly, a gleaming red light burst forth from the phoenix egg as it absorbed the essence with a voracious hunger.
"My blood essence really works!" Ethan's face brightened with joy.
The egg shimmered anew, and Ethan sensed a subtle awakening.
He felt a connection stir between himself and the unborn phoenix, as if the creature already recognized him as its "mother".
If this continued, he mused, when the phoenix finally hatched, it would likely regard him as its "mother" — the one who had warmed it with his own blood.
"Here, have two more drops to sustain you," he murmured tenderly, pouring a little more blood essence onto the egg before securing the vial away.
Caution was necessary—not all blood essence could be expended at once, especially when his own survival might one day depend on it.
"Don't worry, just stay with me. I'll make sure you grow strong with plenty of food and care," Ethan promised with a soft smile.
His eyes drifted back to the mighty phoenix skeleton, its bones remarkably preserved despite the passage of hundreds of thousands of years. The calcified surface shimmered faintly with a light red-gold hue, testament to the divine origin of the beast.
Though the skeleton was immensely valuable, Ethan felt no desire to claim it as treasure.
His careful inspection revealed no bone pattern treasure embedded within, so he left the ancient remains undisturbed.
Standing above the cave, Ethan cupped his hands respectfully toward the resting place of the Divine beast.
"Divine Phoenix, I vow to safeguard your child. It shall never suffer neglect or danger under my watch."
"Go in peace," he intoned solemnly.
Turning away, Ethan's eyes sought the lone entrance ahead—the only path forward.
He had already broken through the Bronze Man Formation on the first level, and bested the phoenix phantom on the second.
Beyond that threshold lay the deepest, most perilous level Lyralei had warned him about.
Ethan stood poised next to the cave entrance. Again, the haunting voice resounded, "Child, come forth. I await your arrival."
Without hesitation, Ethan swallowed his doubts and stepped into the darkness.
Meanwhile, deep beneath the cave, the two blazing red flames flickered briefly in the phoenix skull's eye sockets, then dimmed and vanished.
The colossal skeleton, stripped of its inner spirit, dulled rapidly, its once vibrant red-gold luminescence fading to ashen black.
A soft wind stirred, carrying the brittle dust into the boundless space between heaven and earth, until at last, the mighty bones crumbled away, lost forever.
Venturing deeper, Ethan found the cave dark beyond the reach of his mortal eyes. But for a cultivator of his caliber, true vision came from within—the mental power served as an omnipresent third eye.
He advanced steadily, counting the minutes until a distant light pierced the blackness.
After three minutes of cautious progress, a dazzling glow overwhelmed his sight, signaling the cave's exit.
Yet what greeted Ethan beyond was disorienting.
A strange realm stretched before him, utterly blank and white.
The sky overhead and the earth beneath merged in a seamless expanse of pure white light. There was no horizon, no landmarks—only boundless emptiness.
"Did I take a wrong turn?" Ethan's brows furrowed in confusion and unease.
Turning, he sought the path he'd come by—but to his alarm, it had vanished.
"What the hell?!" His voice dropped low, heavy with wariness.
The unprecedented unknown enveloped him in suffocating weightlessness, the vast whiteness pressing inward without mercy or end.
Ethan's feet felt untethered, as if he were suspended in a void, neither falling nor rising.
He summoned all his essence and blood power to stop himself—but shockingly, he found no energy responding to his will.
Neither essence nor blood, mental power nor soul power, stirred within his body.
"Scythe Intent?" He tested his signature force—but there was no reply.
"transform the domain?!" His heart raced as realization dawned.
"All my power... gone?"
"What kind of place is this? An illusion?" His expression darkened under the crushing weight of uncertainty.
"Open the Heaven-piercing Mind Eye! Break through!" he shouted in desperation. Still, the world's blank silence remained impervious.
"System… System! Alicia, are you there?!" His shouts echoed unanswered.
Lightness deepened; sensations dimmed—the five senses slipped away one by one.
Ethan was falling into an abyss of powerless oblivion.
Hearing faded away. Sight blurred into the void.
Helplessness swallowed him whole.
Just as despair threatened to overcome, a warmth blossomed within him—a comforting light, soft and tender, like a child nestled safely in a mother's embrace.
Consciousness drifted gently downward into the unknown.
…
Time lost meaning. Moments, hours, or years—all merged into one breathless span.
When Ethan finally opened his eyes, light dazzled and blurred his vision.
He rubbed his temples, enduring the slow return of clarity.
He found himself seated by a window in a familiar office—late at night, the city beyond was alive with neon glows and dim streetlights.
