Chapter 228: The Blueprint
Gabriel calmly descended the flight of stairs, his feet causing a faint echo in the dark.
Although there were torches mounted along the sides, they weren't much help, and he could only see a short distance ahead. A normal human would have struggled and probably slipped on the steps.
However, thanks to leveling up multiple times, the darkness wasn't much of a problem for him.
'Although humans have advanced in recent years, it appears the beasts of the world didn't evolve.' Gabriel noted as he arrived at the underground chambers.
The chamber was filled with cupboard-like crates and chests stacked atop each other.
Silver and golden coins were scattered across the floor, shimmering faintly and casting a warm glow across what Gabriel could only assume was the storage room.
'These coins might have been very useful in the past, but they're no longer that valuable.'
One might wonder why he thought that way, but it was simple. Humans had discovered metals rarer and more useful than gold. That didn't mean gold had lost its worth, but its dominance had weakened.
There were still individuals who coveted gold, using it for jewelry, crafting, and decoration.
In fact, kingdoms like the Martial Warriors of Tianlan still used gold, silver, and copper coins as their official currency.
'This can fetch a lot if I trade them.' Gabriel waved his hand, placing a chest of gold coins into his inventory—only for a dreaded message to appear.
[Unable to place any more items in the inventory; your inventory is full]
A small frown, which the opposite gender might have found extremely attractive, appeared on Gabriel's face. He took a brief look through his inventory.
Stacks of treasures, monster cores, skill scrolls, and several golden chests greeted him.
Inventory storage was tied to level. The higher one's level, the more space available.
He couldn't just leave the place as it was, especially when he hadn't yet found the main treasure he was looking for.
"Grizzlenaught, come forth!"
Fortunately, Gabriel had someone to carry the luggage.
The crimson beast with a predatory gaze slowly rose from the ground, towering over its master's 6'2" frame.
The intimidating monster that struck fear in the hearts of many appeared very tame at that moment.
"There… carry the crates." Gabriel pointed calmly at the treasures.
"Huuuuh?" A dumb look appeared on Grizzlenaught's face, and it made a guttural sound as if asking what?
The beast had been expecting to fight, as that was what it was accustomed to. Being told to carry things left it slightly taken aback.
Was it meant to fight the crates? It stared at Gabriel, almost as if asking for confirmation.
"Yes." Gabriel repeated firmly and walked past his summon.
Reluctantly, the beast went to the first crate and lifted it, then moved on to the next. Before long, it was carrying a towering mountain of crates.
A look of comtempt burned in its blue eyes—it was clear Grizzlenaught wasn't pleased with this task.
Even though it wasn't tired, there was something humiliating about turning a fearsome monster into a mere porter.
While Grizzlenaught grunted and showed its displeasure, Gabriel focused on searching for the true treasure.
The poster from his past life hadn't mentioned the exact location of the treasure inside this room, so he had to figure it out on his own.
After a while, he finally spotted a chest bound with thick chains, as if trying to seal something within.
'They couldn't be more obvious…'
Even though he never underestimated his enemies, Gabriel felt hobgoblins were a very predictable species.
Pulling out the key he had collected from the chambers above, he inserted it into the keyhole.
Click!
The sound echoed as the chains clattered to the ground. Bracing himself, he took a deep breath and slowly opened the chest.

"N-nothing?" Shock and disappointment flashed across his face. Staring at the chest, all he saw was his own reflection.
There were no powerful treasures that could thrust the Warmonger Guild into the spotlight or increase the Holy Church's strength.
It was just… empty.
'Maybe this isn't the chest I'm looking for.'
'Did someone take the treasure before me?' He did see a couple of monster corpses at the foot of the hill, after all.
Then a darker thought struck him.
What if the Deleters had found this place? At this stage of the game, he didn't know anyone skilled enough to infiltrate the castle and steal the treasure undetected.
Or could it be that the game had changed slightly?
Deciding to investigate further, Gabriel rose from his crouched position.
He had been blocking the torchlight, and when he moved, the light fell directly on the chest. At that moment, he noticed a faint ripple.
Without hesitation, he plunged his hand into the chest—and it passed through an invisible barrier. His fingers grasped something solid.
His eyes sparkled as he pulled it out.
It was a scroll.
At first, he thought it was just another skill, until the description left him stunned.

"Gun blueprint?" Gabriel's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, his heart pounding wildly.
Before him was the blueprint to craft an advanced mana gun!
'Hahaha, this will be very useful for my militants.' Gabriel chuckled, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
There were two types of people who used guns in this world: the mundane and the gunslingers.
The gunslingers were naturally more talented, with proper aim and the ability to master any firearm the moment they held it.
The mundane, on the other hand, were those who picked up guns out of necessity—to protect themselves not only from beasts but also from adventurers.
Back in his camp, most of the fighters were mundane, with only a few Awakened among them.
With this blueprint, they would become unstoppable!
As he clutched the scroll and imagined its future potential, a voice suddenly came from above.
"We were gone for just a couple of hours, and all of them are dead already? What happened here?"
