Chapter 202: Extracting Bai Young
Gabriel had a strong urge that the king of the Vermilion Kingdom also possessed this title.
'It's most likely hereditary.' His eyes glinted. Because he wasn't a lord even in his past life and the title was rather rare, he didn't really know much about it.
'If it's not hereditary, then there should be a way of transferring lordship.'
Submerged inside the water, Gabriel found that his thoughts were much clearer. He racked his brain, trying to estimate how powerful the king would be if he possessed the Lord title.
There were millions of citizens in the Valerian Kingdom, and the kingdom accepted refugees from the wilderness. Although he didn't know it, just this year the king had accepted over 50,000 refugees. That would translate to an extra 2,000 attribute points.
"The kings of this world should be stronger than a Champion too, but for some reason the scholars always omitted them. Was it because of their title?"
Then another theory struck him—would it be possible for the next king to inherit all the attribute points of the previous king, or would he need to gather more refugees to earn them?
This was very tricky, and Gabriel felt that if he didn't ask another Lord or find out more information, it would be difficult to know.
'However I feel it would be the latter…' he thought. Wrong—he hoped, actually.
Merely thinking of the current king inheriting all the attributes of the previous king sent a slight shiver down his throat.
He didn't even want to imagine how overpowered the king would be.
At that moment, Gabriel stopped thinking and just decided to enjoy the water for the rest of the day.
The bathtub was as large as a pool, with features that could heat the water, cool it, or keep it at a mid temperature.
Despite being sent here to govern this camp, it felt as if Kairos had never left the eastern camp, which was more developed and fortified.
Even though the rest of the camp was in poor condition, the mansion where he lived was state of the art, comparable to those in Stellar City.
Some time later, there was a knock on the door.
"Come inside."
At Gabriel's deep authoritative voice, the door creaked open and three figures stepped inside.
It was Sniperbowlegend, BrawlerX, and Ragnarok99.
"Sir Broken, all parts of the walls have been fixed," Ragnarok99 reported.
"Good." Gabriel merely nodded, eyes still closed. Then he added, his nose twitching, "I can smell your stench from here."
When he said this, embarrassed expressions appeared on their faces, and they looked away, whistling.
"Come on, wash yourselves," Gabriel said as he exited the pool.
"Thank you, boss!" they shouted in unison.
As soon as Gabriel was gone, Amelia stepped inside once again with a kind and gentle smile on her face.
"Good day, gentlemen. Do you prefer having a bath prepared for you, or would you like to wash on your own?" She smiled sweetly.
"Wait… we can request that?" Ragnarok99's eyes widened.
"You mean NPC ladies would help us wash off?" BrawlerX asked incredulously, almost as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
The only person who didn't have much of a reaction was the archer, Sniperbowlegend. His expression remained neutral as always, making it difficult to tell if he was excited or not.
Amelia felt slightly disappointed. Although the practice of maidens helping their masters wasn't wrong—in fact, it was tradition in some places—she had hoped they'd decline like Gabriel.
"Yes." She nodded a moment later, still maintaining her professional warm smile.
"Holy moly, no one told me the game developers thought of something like this as well!" BrawlerX exclaimed, feeling jolts of excitement all over his body.
"Well, who would say no to such an offer?" Ragnarok99 grinned. "A bit of soft arms would do a better job than these rough ones."
"Me too." BrawlerX scratched his head, a silly smile on his face. "My back and shoulders feel sore… a little massage won't be bad."
Amelia's eyes twitched. "They'll be here in a few seconds then."
Before she left, she noticed that one person hadn't said anything.
"What about you?" she asked Sniperbowlegend.
"Oh, me? I'll be fine. I can help myself. Besides, I won't be comfortable." He replied calmly.
'I guess there's still someone like him.' Amelia smiled softly and left.
When she did, both Ragnarok99 and BrawlerX looked at the archer as if he were an alien.
I mean… who refuses an offer like that? Could it be…
They exchanged glances, as if knowing what the other was thinking.
"It can't be!"
…
Meanwhile, Gabriel dried the water dripping from his toned physique and changed into looser attire.
When he was fully dressed, he stepped out of the mansion. Some of the workers recognized him as their new boss and quickly bowed their heads, attempting to shower him with praise.
However, his electric-blue gaze swept over them, but he didn't slow his steps. He had no interest in receiving empty praises. Power was shown through results, not words. The people seemed to understand that, for no one dared follow him further.
Outside, the atmosphere was much livelier. People could be seen talking and laughing, while Bunny and Anna distributed blankets and food.
Because everyone's attention was so focused on the two, no one noticed when Gabriel slipped past them.
That was until he felt a small hand wrap around his. He looked down to find Lina with a wide smile on her face.
She was dressed plainly in a patched dress, but her eyes were bright and filled with life.
"Can I call you big brother?" Lina asked, covering her face with her arms as if she were too shy.
"Sure, if you want to," Gabriel replied.
At first, the little girl couldn't believe her ears. She slowly removed her arms from her face.
"Really?"
"Yes. I have a little brother too, but I don't mind having a little sister as well."
"Thank you." Lina bowed, sniffing multiple times.
"It's fine," Gabriel said, stroking her head.
Afterward, he made a slow circuit around the camp, noting the progress. The newly repaired walls stood firm, guarded by men who actually looked alert instead of beaten.
After making sure everything was in order, he eventually turned back toward the mansion. Lina reluctantly let go of his arm, bowing her head respectfully before hurrying off to help the others.
When he was inside, he summoned the arm that once belonged to Bai Young.
…It was time to extract it!
