Chapter 107: Slaughter Inside the Dungeon [2]
"I knew I wasn't hearing wrong," Gabriel said loudly, attracting the attention of the two below.
"You…" the girl narrowed her eyes.
"So we ran into each other again, and this time you're alone. Truly, the world is a small place," the male smiled.
These two were none other than Vera and Darius.
They were known as the infamous psychopathic couple, notorious for killing players. Gabriel remembered their faces very well—after all, he had nearly become one of their victims.
Vera's eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as her hand twitched toward the dagger strapped to her waist.
Gabriel noticed this but remained standing with a blank look in his eyes.
"You could've slipped away unnoticed, but no—you had to be arrogant." Darius laughed boisterously as he summoned his sword.
Above, their party member frowned and glanced down but wasn't able to see anything because of the tree branches obstructing his view. He shook his head and continued climbing.
Meanwhile below, Darius pointed his sword at Gabriel. "Last time you got lucky. Did that get into your head? Is that why you made your presence known?"
Gabriel didn't respond to Darius. Instead, he moved his gaze upward. He couldn't see anyone there but heard faint movement.
"So he's your next target." Gabriel shook his head in pity.
"You knew?" Darius and Vera's eyes widened in disbelief. This was their deepest secret—no one knew about it, and everyone who had found out was dead. So how... just how did he know?
"How did you know?" Vera demanded in a cold voice.
Gabriel looked at her with a cold expression on his face, his electric blue eyes flashing sharply as he released an intimidating aura.
For the first time, Vera took a step back.
"Since you both will die anyway, I guess I should let you in on a secret," he smirked.
Vera forced a smile onto her face. "It seems the cow has grown wings." A cruel gleam flashed across her eyes. "Sweetheart, let's plug his wings."
"Hahahaha, of course, of course," Darius laughed excitedly.
"Before I kill you both, I'll give you the chance to answer this question. Then I'll answer yours."
"Sure, go ahead," Darius said, licking the blade of his sword.
"Why do you kill innocent newbies?" Gabriel asked, his voice emotionless.
"Hahahaha, because it's fun? There's just this exhilarating feeling seeing the hopelessness in their eyes."
"So it's confirmed." Gabriel's expression remained unchanged as he withdrew Crimson Judgement.
"Now your turn!" Darius shouted, pointing at Gabriel. "Fulfill your promise!"
"Well… I'm a reincarnator."
There was silence.
"Bullshit!" Darius roared and charged forward with his sword. Vera charged at him from the side.
Though he remained still, Gabriel was able to read both of them like a book. And at that exact moment, he activated [Parry LV.2].
Instantly, his body moved on its own, deflecting Darius's sword and causing him to stagger backward.
Quickly, Gabriel spun around and slashed violently at Vera, who was approaching from behind.
She managed to jump out of the range of the attack, but a deep crater had already formed where she'd just stood.
'He's stronger.' she thought, circling around him.
Darius didn't charge recklessly again after that first clash. Instead, he took off his left-hand glove.
Then he charged in again. This time, Gabriel moved as well, and both swung their swords at the same time.
Clang!
But there was a clear winner, as Darius's sword flew out of his hands, leaving him exposed.
Shing!
Crimson Judgement flashed.
Thud.
Darius looked at the ground with disbelief shining in his eyes. Right there—was his arm.
"Targeting me was the worst decision you ever made," Gabriel stabbed Darius in the chest, blood gushing out of his mouth.
"You bastard!" Vera screamed, charging in—only to receive a kick that sent her crashing into a tree.
BANG!
"Earth Stone!" Darius, his face pale, quickly activated one of his skills.
A magic circle materialized right behind him, and from it, rocky stones shot forward.
But with Guard's Robe activated, Gabriel easily deflected the stones without suffering even a single scratch.
'I just need to touch him.' Darius thought, eyes filled with a mixture of pain and determination.
With a desperate look in his eyes, he jumped forward.
But...
SPLAT!
A clean, brutal swing severed him from the shoulder to the waist. The two parts thudded to the ground.

Blood soaked the grass, and Gabriel slowly turned to Vera.
That single kick had contained half of his full strength. As such, she had nearly passed out.
When she regained her senses, her mouth fell open upon seeing that her partner was in pieces.
However, she knew there was no time to grieve. She needed to do something—or she'd end up the same way.
And what was worse, Gabriel was walking toward her with an expressionless face.
"…Wait," she said.
Gabriel didn't stop.
"WAIT!!" Vera screamed, throwing her dagger—but a little movement of his head was all he needed to dodge it.
"I said WAIT! We don't have to do this!"
Finally, he paused.
Vera stumbled forward, chest heaving. Then, slowly… she dropped her second dagger and unzipped her armor just enough to reveal her soft, supple cleavage.
"We can… work together," she said softly, stepping closer. "You're strong. You could have me. I-I'm not like them…"
Gabriel stared at her like she was dirt on the ground. "Disgusting."
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
He moved forward and grabbed her throat in one motion.
"Wait, plea—"
CRACK!
With a single twist, her neck snapped.
She slumped to the ground like a discarded rag doll.

Gabriel exhaled and walked over to Darius's corpse. He was about to use extraction when he heard footsteps and voices coming from both sides.
"Yes! This is where the sound came from!"
"Do you think someone ran into powerful adventurers?"
For the first time, Gabriel's calm façade broke when he realized how dangerously close the approaching voices were
