God Of War: Gacha System

Chapter 3: #3 - Let’s Go Gambling

*Plaf*

"Ughh…" Not having learned my lesson, I once again fell to my makeshift bed and hurt my back.

Still, my groan wasn't because of the pain, it was because of the implications that my new identity brought.

"Kratos…" My thoughts began to wander about his story and how it would affect me.

One of the main characters who have suffered the most, a battle-hungry general, a slave to the gods, the god of war, the ghost of Sparta, and many other nicknames were applied to him throughout his life.

"Wait, but that doesn't concern me, right?" The realization hit me, and I grabbed the small mirror once again.

"Young… No older than twenty, scratch that, no older than 17…" Suddenly, all my problems disappeared.

Kratos's story began when he killed his wife and child, and due to Spartan customs, the age of marriage is 30.

"Fourteen years at least" I have all that time to decide whatever else to do.

But I don't need that time.

"My first objective: Escape" I stood up from the bed and raised my fist in front of me.

When someone promises himself something they always raise their fist and scream it, but I don't want someone to come complaining, so this will do.

Now, what do I mean by escape?

It's rather simple, I want to escape this world.

Since God of War is an actual existing world, then many others will be too, right?

So, I should be able to travel to these worlds too, right?

And after doing so, I will never come back to this one. I'll settle down in a Slice of Life world and never look back at this city, world, and its gods.

The reason being… Well, there are too many, but why would I live in this dangerous, uncivilized, and barbarian world, when I could be living in a modern 21st century world?

What's more, I already have some sort of magic power that's natural to this world, that alone will make me an unstoppable force in those worlds like… I don't know… Komi-san?

Think about it, not the full strength made of Wolkoff energy (Weird saying that) that the essence of control gave me power over, but just the magic natural to this world. That alone is strong enough to make me invisible, who knows what other things too?

Before all of this though, I have to find a way to travel through worlds.

The only lead I have, and the only thing I can do, is to try and use the power that the essence molded me.

Aresha said that it analyzed me and gave me the one that's more suited to me, right?

She also said that I only have to will it and it will appear, right?

Then, here we go.

I went to the wooden table in the small room and sat down on it while thinking about what ¨Will it and it will appear¨ meant.

"Uhm…" Giving up, I began to just randomly try and see if I had to say something in my mind to make it appear, but it didn't work.

"Alright, let's get serious"

Breathing in, I reproduced a small but repetitive sound in my head, trying to distract myself from thinking and recognizing anything foreign in my mind, anything that fits the description of a switch that you can turn on with will.

My mind began to disperse, similar to falling asleep, I slowly lost grip of consciousness without even noticing.

Still, just when I was about to completely blackout. I felt something.

To put it in simple words, it was something in my mind that didn't fall asleep.

Of course, unless I willed it so.

"Appear" The words came out of my mouth almost naturally.

And what appeared in front of me was.

[Gacha]

A singular word in an all-cyan tab.

That word alone gave me all the context I needed.

Still, that didn't diminish my feelings by a little, and words came out of my mind naturally, once again.

"I'm so fucked, aren't I?"

...

The essence of control analyzed my whole existence and gave me control over my power in the way I preferred.

The energy of existence and nonexistence, both are the energy of everything and nothing, so the power born from them has to give me everything and nothing.

The body augmentation(Or whatever it was called), gave me the ability to accept every type of energy, and it helped me to not make both previous energy go out of control.

I also liked gacha games a lot when I was alive.

With these four reasons, I've been consoling myself, trying to make myself think that I still have chances at life.

"Don't I have a battle in three days too?" That's what the abusive leader of my team had said "I'm beyond cooked, right?"

How am I supposed to use a GACHA to survive in a war? Roll for chances of survival? 0.92% chance of not being hit by a stray arrow?!

"Breathe, I can't be that bad, right?" Once again, I console myself.

It's still a power molded by an essence(I don't know what that is, but it sounds powerful) that was given to me by someone in the space between everything and nothing. It should be pretty strong or usable, at the very least.

"Explain yourself, gacha" I order the apparently non-biotic blueish panel in front of me.

And while it doesn't talk, I get told the information in my head. It's a weird process since the information comes from me and arrives at me.

First of all, the gacha works with the basic notions of one.

You can do rolls of ten. The rolls vary between anything that exists.

And I mean everything, but not things like a piece of stray metal, they give important things.

Second, I can completely customize the appearance of the gacha.

The cyan tab doesn't have to be cyan, it can be black, purple, red, golden, a mix of two, and more.

While pulling I can make the pulls appear to me as a whole, in groups of one, the best one at the last…

Not only that, the pulling system can be customized too, at least its appearance.

This means that I can make my rolls appear as if they were from wishing stars from Genshin; Saint Quartz summons from FGO; Headhunts from Arknights, etc.

But as I said, this only affects the appearance, the pulls themselves don't have a ranking or any hierarchy. No golden pulls or six stars.

Third, What is used for pulling isn't some sort of energy or gacha currency.

It uses me as a currency.

Well, to be more precise, it uses what I do.

To not bore you with the extremely detailed explanation that I got in my head about existence and nature and balance and blah blah. It's based on feats.

Simple things like winning a battle, to more complicated things like creating a civilization.

Low-rank feats don't give me the ability to pull right away, they fill something like a bar in my mind, and once the bar is full I can pull.

Some high-rank feats might give me several times the bar, in that case, I can pull that amount of times, and the excess doesn't get wasted.

The pulls that I do when this bar gets full are slightly attuned. In other words, I get a +10 to luck with these pulls. I'm not even sure how that works, if I can pull everything, then doesn't everything have the same chance to appear?

Now, the fourth basic rule that I got. There are no time-limited banners but the pulls that I get from feats can be special.

So once the bar is full, depending on the feats that I've done I can sort of customize the pulls that I'll do with them. This is more easy to explain once I fill the bar and I get this option, so it's inconsequential now.

Then, the fifth basic rule. Yes, I only got the basic rules, since they are the most important ones.

I can do free pulls too, thirty a month, but they will be truly neutral ones. So anything could appear from here, from some ungodly being from the deepest hell that there is, to the most angelic existence that the human mind could comprehend.

Once again, I don't understand how it works. Because if I can pull everything, then everything should have the same chance of appearing, so how does luck work in this case?

Lastly, the sixth rule, depending on what I get, I can assimilate it and fuse it into me, to become it or a part of it.

Self-explanatory, but I will put it into practice in a short moment.

Anyway, these are the six basic rules, I know that there are more, but they are too specific for me to ask and to be bothered by.

Now, I could talk a lot about my next actions, but I'm more of an ¨Actions talk louder than words¨ person.

So, let's roll the gacha.

[Gacha - 1/3]

[Summon - 10(3)]

I let the tab appear, and while assuring myself that I will custom it later, I press the button, the only button under this tab.

[1: Ice generation - The Incredibles]

The tab's buttons disappeared, letting place to a wish that became a card after it shined bright. Yes, I'm using the Genshin summoning system, bite me.

Now, what exactly is this?

Before asking that though, I need to end the gacha.

[2: Transmutation Gloves - Fullmetal Alchemist]

The card in the tab showed two gloves, both with symbols that I'm pretty familiar with.

This is pretty cool.

Next.

[3: Havoc - Magisterium]

I remember that novel, I read it in middle school. It's a magic world and Havoc is a wolf that is corrupted by chaos. I'll think about it later.

[4: Jason Todd - DC]

Huh, I wonder if I got Robin or Red Hood, I'll have to check it later.

[5: Leviathan - Ultrakill]

That big monster from the water level? What would I even do with this?

[6: Ludwig - Bloodborne]

Wait, what?! Ludwig? You mean, like, THE Ludwig, The holy blade Ludwig?!

Oh god, I need to see my inventory.

[7: Chakra Papers- Naruto]

Seriously? I don't have chakra to test this… It's plural though so maybe I could put some magic of this world into the paper and see what happens

[8: Power Upgrade]

Huh? No place of origin, another thing to check, then.

[9: Meat Skewer - Dead Cells]

A weapon… Not useless I guess.

[10: Roland Deschain - The Dark Tower]

Hmm, I never got around to reading The Dark Tower, but that's a high-level world, right?

Anyways, that makes the first batch, and with that over I should inspect the tabs of the gacha.

[Gacha - 1/3]

[Summon - 10(2)]

This is a straightforward tab, it only has those two things appearing in the whole of it.

[Inventory - 2/3]

Now this is bigger…

It's showing everything that I have and it's descriptions.

The characters, the items, the powers. All in the form of small cards that, well, are once again from Genshin Impact.

Well, it was this or FGO's inventory system, and I didn't really like it too much.

The cards show an image of what they are, Ice Generation shows an ice spike, chakra papers show some papers, and Roland's card shows a man with two revolvers, but only when I focus on it and make it bigger, when not, it only shows his face.

They were all of the same size, but of different colors, these don't have any significance on the value of the pull, they are just there as a classification method.

Ice generation is a power and it's purple. Characters, and things that are alive in any way are golden. Items of any kind are red, so the gloves, the meat skewer, and the power upgrade are red.

Talking about this one, I need to check it real quick.

"What exactly do you d-Ack" The information came to my mind in the same way that the rules did: Annoyingly, abruptly, and with a slight headache.

"Okay, stop doing that" I order the gacha from the discomfort of my bed.

Hopefully, I won't find out in a bad way if that worked or not.

Anyway, the information that I received was that this power upgrade is directly that, a power upgrade, I can use to upgrade one of my powers.

I'll use it on Ice Generation in a moment to see how it works.

Now, the last tab.

[Status - 3/3]

[Name: Arian Wolkoff]

[Race: Human(Demigod)]

[Assimilations: None]

[Assimilation Process:]

-

-

-

[Progress Bar : 0%]

Seems pretty simple…

My name, my race, my assimilation, the ones that I'm assimilating, and the bar.

The assimilation ones are about the sixth rule, while the progress bar is the Third.

Alright, let's start with this then, do I need to assimilate Ice Generation? That doesn't seem right.

[The card will be used immediately once you will it so, it will become part of you and give you the power. This only applies to ¨Purple Cards¨]

The tab, that didn't have anything else besides my status, now had a small pop-up in the superior part of it.

"What is this?" I asked, a bit taken aback.

[Direct information supply to the head was proven unsatisfactory, this was the first alternative] It changed when I asked my question.

"Neat" It really is fully customizable.

What about the color? I want it a little bit darker, even if the bright color that it has now helps me see in the dark.

Now it changed to black and orange, a fiery orange that reminds me of a sunset.

The orange words contrast nicely with the dark background, working well together.

With that done, I want to use my card.

[Inventory - 2/3]

There I see it, a purple card the size of a normal card from a deck of 52, but with a snowflake on both sides of it.

"Use?" With a little hesitation and embarrassment, I felt the card disappear from my hand, but a connection was formed with it, a connection inside my mind. One that I could access at any moment.

And that I did.

"Freeze" Standing up from my bed, I raised both hands to my window and ordered.

The ice came out naturally from my hands, they shot a stream that ended in the path to my house, freezing it slightly.

"Woah" I'm not showing it, but I'm having a big reaction.

Well, I think that my face is showing it, but my body is not.

This is way different from the time that I used magic to escape the battlefield, which was a necessity and I didn't have time to appreciate what I'd done.

But now, there are more important things to do.

"Power… OVERWHELMING!" I said while extending both of my hands in the air.

There isn't any feeling of embarrassment or shame, actually, if any of you who obtain superpowers don't do a pop culture reference first thing after testing them, you failed.

God, should I do another one? No, let's leave the other ones from when I can level planets with a punch.

Moving on, my power isn't really overwhelming. Since it comes from the Incredibles, then I know that it works with the moisture of the air and I need to be hydrated to be able to use it.

Let me actually think about the things he's done in the movies.

Ice generation and cryokinesis in general, are strong enough to support his whole weight and to stop building-sized robots.

And… what? I don't remember the things he has done, so they are either minor things or he did literally nothing else.

Hmmm, let's leave that theme aside fully and continue with the gacha, I would start assimilating Jason and Roland but maybe I would get other things to assimilate and I'm not fully sure how it works.

So, let's roll this.

[Summon - 10(2)]

Yes, yes, let's start this.

[1: Toy Soldier - A Certain Magical Index]

We start things off with a bang, literally. I'm not sure I should use this in this world, it would break the medieval charm that it has, I'm probably going to still use it though, I'm not at a place to be stingy much.

[2: Noko Shikanoko - My Deer Friend Nokotan]

Huh? Will this give me toon force of some sort? If not then I can still think about some uses, but not too many.

[3: Set: Spider-Man - Marvel]

Set of Spider-Man… I don't know what that part means, but I hope that it's good. If it isn't, then at least I have Spider-Man at my side. Shouldn't this say Peter Parker, though?

[4: 112 Ocean Avenue - The Amityville Horror]

And suddenly, I don't feel comfortable anymore.

This is what I meant by anything that could come out of the gacha, I got good things then I got a possessed house. I don't think I could assimilate this, and I'm not placing this in the world. Even if the spirits inside end up as useful.

[5: Hansel - Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters]

Nice, I liked that movie, shame that we never got a sequel. I do have a question though, if I assimilate this, would I get his diabetes? I didn't bring this up sooner due to the pulls being nonhuman, and the ones that were nonhuman didn't have any major weaknesses like this one. Hmm, maybe I should think about it.

[6: Capsules - Dragon Ball]

Capsules? Really? The tab shows those capsules that are used to carry anything in compact sizes, but I'll have to figure out how it works.

I could have gotten a Senzu bean though, or a Spacepod.

[7: Second Death Injection - Faith]

WHY?! I was just beginning to relax about the haunted house pull, is this batch cursed? I'm not touching that injection with a ten-foot stick. Although, it could be used as a weapon… But no, I'm not that cruel, or strong to be in a battle and have the leisure to take an injection off my inventory.

[8: Slow Dancer - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure]

Oh! I remember this guy, it was Johnny's horse in part 7.

I'm not sure how it would work, but that's nice. A simple pull compared to the others, but something nice nonetheless.

[9: World Travel Card]

Is this what I think it is? If it is then my objective is fulfilled and I will be able to escape from this accursed world.

[10: WhiteNight - Project Moon]

And we finish the second batch with an eldritch abomination.

I remember playing this game, I also remember how horrible this guy was. In terms of beating him, in both of the games that he appeared. The music was nice though.

Now that I notice, I consumed a lot of niche stuff when I was alive.

Before going into the last batch, let me check the world travel card, I will check everything at the end.

[World Travel Card]

It doesn't have any image in the inventory's storage, but its color is red, so an item.

"How do I use this?" My voice interrupted the silence of the night.

[Discover any and every characteristic of the originless items by willing them to be shown completely to you]

So I did that.

[World Travel Card: - Four months]

Many things to unpack here.

First, the card's description says that the range of this card is based on my power level, which is divided into three very wide categories: Low, Mid, and High level. Obviously, I'm low-level.

What exactly classifies as a low-level world? I'm sure the slice-of-life anime that I was talking about does, but what else? I'm sure that worlds like DC are high-level, but what if I wanted to go to Arkham, not the place, but the video games where no high-level guys appear? Would it count as DC or as Batman: Arkham Knight?

Well, I have no way of knowing this I would ask this, but something tells me I wouldn't be answered. I will do it anyway though.

[Due to multiple dimensions existing in this case, then a High-level ¨Card¨ would be needed] Was the answer I got after a moment.

That gives me more questions, but they would give me even more questions, so it doesn't matter at the moment.

What does matter is the card, I should use this before my three days are up and I have to go to the battlefield. I'm sure I could run away, but I would get found and/or enslaved. To which I would self-defend myself, but authorities will come for me.

Then I would have to run away from civilization, it's just not worth it.

All of this comes after the last gacha though, after that, sleep.

[Summon - 10(1)]

Let's go.

[1: Color Customization Mechanic]

An originless right of the start? Cool, Although I can already customize the color scheme of the gacha, I'll read what it does later.

[2: Billy the Puppet - Saw]

Suddenly I don't have a nice feeling about this patch, and I'm not going to check if the doll feels the same too.

[3: Stone Mask - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure]

Not useful, maybe in another world, but not in this one with a Sun God.

[4: Mirror Grimoire - Black Clover]

Can I even use this? Doesn't it only answer to the owner?

[Every item gained can be used indefinitely and can be allowed ownership to others; Certain occult, mystical, and/or esoteric things won't be able to be used until certain conditions have been met] I was answered with the pop-up.

That was more of an internal question, but thanks.

[5: Montana Max - Hellsing]

The Mayor from Hellsing? Maybe this is the bad batch.

[6: Crystal flashlight - Gravity falls]

Not so bad. This is the thing that the twins used in their competition to see who's taller, I should visit that world, but I don't think it's low-level.

[7: Blue Star - Project Moon]

Never mind what I said, this is really good, but didn't I just get another abnormality back in the second batch too? Maybe I'm more inclined to gain things similar to the ones that I have.

[Yes, similar to the items, characters, powers, and your whole existence overall] An answer came immediately.

For real? I was spewing bullshit.

...Wait, doesn't this mean that I'm similar to these abnormalities?

[8: Saiyan Scouter - Dragon Ball]

Not useless, I guess.

[9: Soft And Wet - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure]

Whoa, Bubbles. I would give a comment, but it's late, and I want to go to sleep.

[10: Nathan Drake - Uncharted]

I loved those games, perfect ending.

Now, What should I do first? The assimilation probably.

The inventory showed 12 golden cards, each one had a small image of the contents. The Leviathan's picture was kinda off-putting since it's all realistic now, not just the basic graphics of the game.

Inspecting each one of them, I notice some differences between my options.

Some cards aren't available to assimilate, like the WhiteNight and the Blue Star.

"Why is this? And how can I overcome this problem?" I ask with a low voice, proof of my tiredness.

[There is too much difference between the physiology of the implicated ones. To be able to surpass this restriction, you can assimilate ¨Cards¨ that have a lesser difference, or surpass the difference with a ¨Card¨]

Neither of them is available to me at this point. So I'll have to settle with the humans. They are still competent, though, so it's not really settling.

Which should I assimilate first among the seven available?

The Jason card, which shows the man in his red hood armor, the Roland card, and the Spider-Man card appear in my hands. These are the most useful ones that I can assimilate. Jason is trained, Roland is from a high-level world and looks kinda badass, and Spider-Man is superhuman.

Plus I can't think of any big weakness that they have, but Hansel might give me diabetes and I don't trust the Noko card too much.

I focus like I did with Ice Generation and feel them disappear.

With no notable changes, I see my status.

[Status - 3/3]

[Name: Arian Wolkoff]

[Race: Human(Demigod)]

[Assimilations: None]

[Assimilation Process: ]

-Jason Todd - 32%

-Roland Deschain - 18%

-Peter Parker - 20%

[Progress Bar : 0%]

"I will acknowledge these things in the morning"

And with that, I fell asleep.

Unaware of the changes I had just brought to the destiny of this world.

Because of course, I failed to think about the ones who control fate and time in this world.

Amateur.

————————————————————————————————————————————

A/N: Hey there.

Sorry for the info dump in the gacha part, but I thought a lot about it to not make it a ¨Wait until the next month¨ or ¨Get in danger every time you want to pull¨ gacha, at the end, it didn't completely work and I just did half of each.

By the way, the pulls are completely random, I just have a word sheet with like 1000 things from various media, I use a RNG to decide on a line and use that. For example, Havoc was Line 245, Ice Generation was 302, and Roland Deschain was 93.

There are a lot of things in there, from really dumb things to really good things. From anime, manga, manhua, games, books, movies, etc.

There is also a frozono in there, but that didn't come out for the MC.

If he had gotten Frozono, then the power upgrade card wouldn't have worked, because, well, it's not a power, it's a person, but actually, there's a workaround about that, later in the story, though.

I was giggling out loud when MC rolled the Amityville horror and the second death injection in the same batch, I do wonder what are the chances (Line 278 and 179 btw)

BTW, I'm noting that I'm doing long chapters, and I like it because it's the start of the story, but don't be surprised if they get shorter.

Nothing to say now, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and Bye Bye.
