Chapter 1: #1 - Prologue
"Well, here I am" I said to myself as happily as I could, not that it would mean much seeing as how no one was here to be bothered by my tone.
"Or to be more precise, here I… still? I still am…? Here I remain" I kept going since I felt that if I stopped talking I would forget about… well, everything.
"Whatever, this is better anyway. I don't feel any kind of pain or discomfort in here, or rather, I can't feel anything" Once again, I kept talking to someone I'm not sure might actually be there.
Rather than not feeling anything, I simply can't. My eyes don't hurt because I don't have eyes, my lungs don't have any problem taking air because I don't have lungs, and my nose isn't constricted because I don't have a nose. And so on with every other organ of my body.
"Even if I'm not talking with my mouth, or thinking with my brain. I still want to call them like that, with terms I'm familiar with, human-like terms." My voice didn't come out of my inexistent mouth, there was no reverberation of the sound, but I felt that I was talking.
"And, well, isn't everything about feeling at the end?" I started making signs with my hands as if there was an audience that I was talking to "I can confidently say that I'm at the end, and the only things that have kept me going are the small feelings that are nothing but placebo effects from my little time as a human"
"Well, not really ¨little¨…" My hands changed to two straight palms up, to signal a stop in my dialogue "I don't see it as little since it was my whole life, but maybe if I had lived up to be thirty or forty, then I would say that ¨Yes, sixteen years is just a youngster¨, but after all this time in here, I don't feel like describing sixteen as big"
I stood in my tracks, slowly turning to my sides and admiring the scenery. Not that I had too much to do here, apart from floating and thinking.
"Whatever ¨here¨is anyways…" My doubt in recognizing this place came from the lack of any distinct features that would make a place a, well, place.
As I said earlier to you, dear little person in my head, I still want to use human-like terms, so I will try to define this place in the best manner that I can:
It's the most diverse place in all of existence, at one moment, you may be looking at a darkness so deep that you feel it's not of a lack of light, there just simply wasn't supposed to be anything in that space. As if god himself forgot to paint it in his first seven days.
At another moment, you may be looking into the deep lights of outer space, the biggest and most beautiful word you can imagine can't even begin to grasp a part of the feelings seeing this invokes in you. The best word I can use in my mind is… well, ¨Star cluster¨… Yes…An infinitely big and beautiful star cluster.
I would like to use more words to describe this aspect of the place, but beautiful is the first word that comes to mind, just, beautiful. Although I don't like using words to describe it, as I would be putting a limit on it, it's the best word that comes to mind.
And for the feeling of the place… Well, I don't have hands to touch it or my body to feel it, but I feel that it's peaceful.
Yes, even when I am deep in the biggest darkness that I have seen yet, even when I am admiring the…appearance(?) of the star cluster, even if I were to be trapped in a cage or falling through the skies to my certain death. If it was happening here; I feel that I could be as calm as I am right now.
While I have never experienced those, I just have the feeling it may be like that.
"Well, I would be surprised if something started happening in here" I tell myself as I realize that I didn't speak for a while. "Again, whatever time means now…" The moving scenery is the only confirmation that time passes, but since I don't know how fast changes, I can't be sure of the amount of time that passes.
"It could change every minute, every year, every millennium…" I didn't talk a lot while describing this place, so I feel that I should be saying something more...
"…something" No matter how much time passes, some things never change right?
Just like my state of being.
"That I don't know either… I just realized, but I really don't know anything about my situation." A bit baffled, I did an action that provoked the same feeling as standing and did another that felt like placing my hands on my hips "I wouldn't gain nothing from it, since nothing here changes anyways"
Heraclitus was wrong. Everything is constant except change.
The same star cluster that I don't get bored of.
The same darkness that I don't get afraid of.
The same point that I… don't…remember?
A point?
"A point?" I exclaim. I think I screamed while saying so, but I wouldn't be able to tell.
As you may have noticed, I have a certain way with words, actually, I did poetry as a hobby. I wouldn't call myself Shakespeare, but if you wanted to I wouldn't stop you.
But even with all my knowledge and experience, I still wasn't able to use any other word to describe the point.
I can't call it small since it's not close enough for me to define it, and I can't call it big for the same reason. It's not shining or opaque, well it doesn't even have a color. But it's not white, and actually, it feels similar to the darkness, but in the sense that it's the opposite. Like saying 360° and 0°.
But more similar to an antithesis. If the darkness is something forgotten by god, then this point is the only thing that god remembered to do here.
"Should I go?" I say with no doubt and move towards the aforementioned point.
From the very start, it wasn't a question to be answered. It already had an answer.
Obviously, yes.
I'm not complaining about this place, it's cozy, may be frightening at the start, and maybe stunning too. I would give it a 7/10, I would also never visit again, as it's extremely boring.
Invoking the feeling of running or, more accurately, floating. I get closer to the point that may or may not mean something through all of this.
The closer I get the more I realize that this might actually be something and as I stand there, I encourage myself to go through with my decision "Here goes nothing…Hopefully, I won't end in some hell dimension" The white point engulfs my body, slowly traveling through all of my body.
I feel it on my nonexistent body, slowly closing every connection that my skin has with the outside of it, after it's done with that task, he proceeds to do the same to the rest of my body.
My muscles, my bones, even my blood vessels aren't spared from it.
Well, I'm describing it way worse than it sounds. It doesn't hurt, at most, it feels like the cold seeping into my body while I lay in my bed in the middle of the coldest day of the year.
The light left my eyes to the last and I feel that I could resist it, but why should I?
Slowly, I stopped feeling everything.
…
..
…
"Ad sho ader..." And shortly after… "We, wa?" Wait, what?
I stumble…? to my feet?
There's feet? There's meat? Wait, I have a body!
"Oh ma gad!" I exclaimed, my pronunciation was wrong, but it referenced something, so that's a win in my book.
I spent the next ten minutes examining every part of my body, seeing how they reacted, seeing if it was my actual body, getting used to walking again, etc. After not having a body for so much time, I had an epiphany.
It's just the little things, you know...? Like the way my wrist moves so mechanically and efficiently, or the way my fingers contract with my thoughts.
*Cough*
Stopping in my tracks, I slowly turned my body with as much precision as I had available.
"Hello…" The girl-shaped being greeted me, choosing to ignore what I was doing for the last moments.
"Hai…" I said, once again erring at my pronunciation, but the feeling was transmitted accordingly, although this, unfortunately, wasn't a reference to anything.
Wait, I shouldn't remember references to any kind of popular culture…
"So, uh, I didn't expect this, but it's not bad"
What is she talking about?
"Wa are ou alki out?" This is getting boring, why can't I speak properly?
"It may take a while for you to get accustomed to having a body again, you can speak in your mind and I will sense it"
'What are you talking about?'
"I believe explaining is due. Unfortunately, I can't exactly know what are your doubts, what I do know is that the manual here…" She searches for something in the drawer of the desk she's talking behind"…has a FAQ section, now, if you could just answer some questions to know what section of the FAQ I should refer to…"
She looked at me expectingly, I couldn't read too much of her body cues due to her being behind the desk and, well, she didn't have a face for me to read.
'Sure' I ¨said¨ with faux confidence.
"Great!, What's your name?"
'Arian' I answered in my mind, the fleeting thought of giving her a fake name crossed my mind, but I shushed that instinct the same moment it appeared.
"Alright, Mr Arian. What place and time were you born? Please give details" She said moving across the pages of the book that seemed to have the same number of pages read and the same number of pages to be read.
'I don't remember, either the time or place, I only remember being born on earth' I immediately give myself a mental face slap for making sarcastic remarks in front of someone so important to the situation right now.
"I see! Wait just a second…" Cheerfully, she grabbed a machine that looked like a super futuristic toaster and I didn't notice was there, pressed some buttons on its side, and grabbed the book once again.
"Alright, Arian of Earth, the FAQ section no°- is the one meant for you" She said, without acknowledging the very wrong sound that came out while she was saying the section.
"First question: Where, what, when, who, and why?" Without stopping, she answered all those questions. "You are in the arc of existence; The event happening doesn't really have a name, but you can call it ¨Your choice ¨" She did the quotation marks with both pairs of hands that she had.
"When can't be applied, as there isn't time in here; Who is you; and Why is a very diverse question that I will need your help in answering" Not missing a beat, she continued answering the questions, and naturally, her answers bred more questions in me.
'In what part?' Ignoring the questions bubbling inside me, I answered pretending the answer made sense to me.
"Well, what is the last thing you remember?" The hooded crystal-faced woman asked me casually.
'I was floating nowhere as I normally do, but then I saw a small white point in the middle of the darkness and I got closer to it, when I touched it, it devoured my body and I woke up here' With every word that I said the crystal woman got more solemn, even if her face didn't have any movement or faction at all, the atmosphere grew in that direction.
"Hmm… That doesn't seem right… Wait, just a moment" She said before grabbing some artifact, pointing it at me, and sending some sort of wire towards me.
By pure instinct, I tried to dodge, but the sudden action caused me to fall over, inflicting minor amounts of pain in my not-yet-accustomed body.
The wire's direction changed in mid-air, curving unnaturally and stopping once it made contact with my head.
No amount of pain was inflicted with that one, but some minor discomfort.
The woman did a small yelp and began writing something behind her desk, before taking another weird artifact and placing said something in it. It disappeared with a flash of blue and she visibly relaxed and slumped in her chair.
'Hey, um' I interrupted her leisure time.
"Oh! Yes, I'm sorry…" She appeared unusually accustomed to saying those words "Where were we at?"
'You threw me a wire' I said blankly.
"I'm sorry about that, your situation isn't exactly usual"
'What is my situation?'
"Well, you see…" She fidgeted with her fingers as if looking for the right words that wouldn't cause me harm "Floating for such a long time in the arc isn't exactly heard of, and surviving in the deep existence and the deep nonexistence hasn't even been proven yet"
'…' My instincts told me that not answering was the best choice here.
"Not that you know what are those…" She mumbled under her breath "Well, if you see to your left you will see the nonexistence and if you see to your right, you will see the existence" She gestured to the left and the right, in separate orders.
And to my left was the deep darkness, while to my right was the star cluster.
Things slowly began to make sense in my head… Even if most of the terms that she's using don't make sense.
'And what was the point that I saw and guided me here?' My suspicions of this woman began to lower, and I asked the question directly.
"Oh! That was…um" She glanced at the artifact that made the something disappear, and when it appeared, she lightened up and touched it.
As she touched it, the something disappeared into her hand, seemingly absorbed by it.
"That was apparently your energy" She said confidently, as if everything would be magically explained by that.
'…' Once again, I chose to remain quiet.
"…Through your intensive traveling, your body accumulated both energy of everything that exists and everything that doesn't exist, the great darkness and the great star cluster, as you call them."
The pieces are falling in, everything is becoming clearer…
"That energy that should be incompatible got stabilized inside your body while you traveled through the arc, and when it was fully stabilized, it kept collecting more, until it materialized outside of you. Then it teleported you here, where you should've gone naturally"
I see, so I quite literally saved myself.
TLDR; I wasn't traveling meaninglessly, I was going in and out of the plane of existence and the plane of… inexistence (?), That energy materialized outside of my body and I used it to get here, with a body.
But all of this doesn't answer a big question.
'So, what now?'
The figure looked a bit awkward. "Well, normally we make sure that no one can go to the inexistence, since things get bad there, so I'll just do my job and ask you to never go there again"
'I won't, but that doesn't answer what I asked'
"Ah, yes!" She quickly gathered everything that was on her desk and set it aside, opening her manual on the table "You…will…be…" She passed her finger through the lines of the page "You will be thrown back into existence shortly, but unfortunately, you won't be thrown into the place you were born, but one of the many universes that exist"
Before I could protest, she showed me her palm, while the one in the book remained there.
"You will be given three advantages though, so please cooperate"
That I will do.
If it's between being isekai'd, eternal damnation in the darkness, or, eternal damnation seeing the brightest stars that I ever could see.
Then there isn't anyone who wouldn't choose Isekai.
"Unfortunately, your advantages will be reduced to two" Said the woman, who I was definitely sure had devil-like horns and a tail.
'What?! Why!?' I protested with all of the strength this lackluster body could gather.
"It's because of your incredible quantity of unnamed energy" She said, and for once, it actually explained it. "If I gave your body any more than two perks, then you would ¨explode¨ once you entered the existence" She explained, but I was more worried(afraid) about why she used the quotations with the word explode.
'Okay, then' I said not bothered, I'm the type of person who gets over his problems quickly, so I won't mind it too much, I still have two wishes.
Alright, it's time to think. What do I need?… Bad thought, next.
What…do...uh…Oh!
What do I have?
Energy, a lot of energy.
But I can't control it or anything, so I need that, a way to control my energy.
"The look of your face tells me that you have your two perks ready, right?" She said happily.
'Yes, for the first, I would like a way of controlling all of the energy inside of me" I said, confident that I wouldn't regret this choice.
"Smart choice, Mr. Arian, Let me check for it…" She lowered behind her desk and started searching in the same drawer that she took everything from, which, by the way, shouldn't be big enough for all of the things to be inside of it.
"Alright, here it is" She said holding up a sphere the size of a basketball and shrinking it until it became as small as a caramel.
'What is this? I asked, fascinated by the caramel.
"This, Mr. Arian, is a control essence" She threw it to me, and I barely was able to catch it in my hands "It will analyze the essence of your whole existence, and shape the energy inside of you to be completely usable and controlled by you"
'Whole existence?' I asked while inspecting the sphere, carefully moving it around. Thankfully, I was beginning to get accustomed to my body enough to make proper movement.
"Yes, and with that information, it will make the energy answer to your likes and dislikes, to activate you'll just have to will it" She looked happy to explain and I didn't dwell on it like I usually would, so there was a happy atmosphere in this starry room.
'I see…'
"What about your second wish?" She asked.
'Actually, I was hoping to get your recommendation?' I asked, carefully moving my body as if I was ashamed of asking, hoping that would make her consider my petition.
"Of course!" She looked even more happy when I asked her that, making me feel bad for trying to slightly guilt-trip her.
"The most used product is this!" She kneeled to grab something and threw it at me once again.
"It's a body adaptation!" She told me before I could ask. "Once you eat this your body will be able to completely assimilate all the energies that enter it and have familiarity with it" She explained while I inspected the new sphere, which looked similar to the one that I already have, but had a different feeling to it.
"Actually, this might be a bit necessary to you, as no one knows how can the energy react once you step back into the existence plane. It might want to get rid of the opposite energy, might consume it, might taint it, etc, etc" She made this show with her hands as if she was trying to sell me something.
'I see… well, thanks for that' I said playing with the ba- playing with the marbles in my hand.
"Alright then, everything is set and done, so while you're here, any questions?" She closed the manual, stored it in the drawer, and relaxed in her seat behind her desk, while I took mine in front of it.
'Hmmm…' Well there is something, but I don't know if I can phrase it correctly.
"Go on…"
'Well, you see, what is uhh… this place to the existence and the inexistence?' I asked and immediately regretted that I did.
A monkey could have phrased it better than I did.
"Oh, actually this is in the FAQ" It is?
She summoned the manual to her hand, not bothering to open the drawer, and started searching through the pages.
"Yes, right here" She said before focusing and reading the page. "It is the border created by the nullification of everything that exists and doesn't exist, It doesn't have a relative place to any plane that exists"
'Uhum' I nodded like I understood it.
She kept reading. "As an example…" The book suddenly went to the middle of the room and a projection came out of it. "In a cartesian plane…"
Oh god, maths?
"…there is the plane of positive numbers and the plane of negative numbers. There doesn't exist a plane of imaginary numbers. If we were to put the current place in a cartesian plane, then it wouldn't have any chance of being explained. An imaginary number can be explained by mixing it with a real one, but there isn't any way of explaining anything in the arc of existence with anything of the existence or inexistence, just with a mixture of both"
She finally stopped reading the book and looked at me.
"So that was that. Any more questions?"
TLDR; This place won't matter once I enter existence. That makes me… feel complicated, I don't know what I could do to remember this place more… fondly.
'Just one…' I may have the answer to that?
"What?"
'What is your name?' I asked casually, and it was casually, I mean, it's not like I'm asking her for something important.
"Huh, well…" Damn, it was important "My name isn't pronounceable in any language or sound you know…" Well, crap. "You can call me Aresha, it means ¨Quiet¨ In my dad's language"
'Alright…' "Aresha"
Oh!
Oh, I talked!
That felt… comfortable, like scratching something that I couldn't get before. Ah, the reverberation in the mouth, it's making me feel nice.
"Oh, did you get accustomed to your body?"
"Yes, a bi" I meant to say a bit, but my body didn't complete the motion, it's fine, I will have time.
"Alright, since you don't have any questions left I will- Wait." She stopped in his tracks and materialized a form out of nowhere.
"Actually, can you touch this? I think that your information should be saved" She said while handing me the paper that what I suppose were basic identity questions in a language I didn't understand.
"Why?" I questioned her while grabbing the paper and seeing it fill by itself.
"It's because I think that you will be recorded as the first case of stabilizing the energy of existence and inexistence, giving birth to a new energy, which will probably be called after your surname... Wolkoff" She said nonchalantly after reading my surname in the paper, but this was kinda big no?
I would be intergalactic Newton. When someone in the future wants to say "With what type of energy does this work?" They will receive "Oh, with Wolkoff energy".
I think that's kinda cool.
"Done gloating about yourself?" Aresha asks with what I assume is a smirk.
"Actually, no, but since you're asking so nice-gurk!" I bit my tongue while I was talking and she definitely had a smirk this time.
"Let's just go…" I answered her unsaid question while accepting defeat.
"Alright, Alright" She opened a portal and began another big explanation.
"So, when you arrive in the world, it will be altered slightly to make everyone think of you as normal, so you will always exist even if you took the place of someone else living there" Aresha explained while slowly positioning behind me figure who was standing before the portal.
"Makes sen- Wait, Took the pla-?"
"Bye, bye, safe travels!" Aresha ¨Smiled¨at me as she kicked me into the portal.
"FUC-"
Those were my last words that marked the end of what I would later call my ¨Travel¨ Era, and at the same time, those were the words that marked the start of what I would later call my ¨Happiest¨ Era.

A/N: So we begin.
I enjoyed making this chapter a lot. This chapter became way bigger than I expected, but I don't regret it at all. I loved writing Aresha, even if we most likely won't see her again. I liked making the personality of the MC, even if it's a little painful sometimes, thinking in his feet.
I'm going to think that it's the kind of pain that grows in you and you learn to live and enjoy it. Like when the cold seeps into your body and makes a firm sensation in you… I think I'm a bit crazy. Well, I don't have anything else to say now, just that I hope that everyone who's reading can accompany me to the end of this fanfic.
And about schedule… I'll figure something out, just keep this in your library and forget about it until I update.
And last thing I want to say, it's about this small A/N, it isn't really anything important, just some things that crossed my mind while making the chapter. So it's not really organized.
All said, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and bye-bye.
