God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World

Chapter 154: Of Course We Continue!

"This is what Magic Conductors are best at. As long as you stockpile enough cannons and enough shells, you're invincible in the mortal realm. Any enemy in the traditional sense won't possibly be their match." Ren was full of confidence. "Even the Gray Fort Empire's magician legions, or some other special existences, couldn't possibly match a Magic Conductor legion. If a Magic Conductor legion loses, then either the enemy is also using Magic Conductors, or they didn't prepare enough railguns and shells. No matter how many miracles the Church of War sends down, they have nothing to fear."

Ren was pretty confident about Roster territory's current production capacity. Facing Magic Conductor weapons produced by such massive productivity, traditional warfare systems simply couldn't resist.

The Goddess of Magic thought about it and didn't comment either way.

It did seem to be the case.

No matter how many times she simulated it, she found that once the Kingdom of Dawn was defeated, they just needed to transport another large batch of Magic Conductor weapons to burst out with extremely strong combat power again and turn the situation around.

"If that's the case, do we still need to keep developing this Magic Conductor mech?" The Goddess of Magic was a bit confused now. The magic railguns were already like this, supplemented by magic super cannons—in the mortal realm, they seemed invincible already.

"Of course." Ren was extremely firm. "In the Magic Conductor era, stagnation means obsolescence. Technology must constantly iterate. However, when to deploy it in the mortal realm needs careful consideration."

Roster territory.

The Wild Mage and his apprentice looked at the scene before them in disbelief.

After who knows how long, the apprentice's Adam's apple moved up and down. "Um, I think we might have researched something incredible?"

"Yeah!" The Wild Mage also looked shocked. "It's just that I don't know what scenario this should be used in."

They'd originally wanted to develop a portable magic railgun. Current magic railguns were incredibly powerful, but that power came with massive size—absolutely impossible for single soldiers to use. So they'd come up with the idea of a portable magic railgun. This cannon had to be something a well-trained soldier could use independently. Its power had to be much stronger than ray guns, or it would be meaningless, but it could be weaker than magic railguns. Calling it a magic power big gun would be fine too.

Unlike ray guns, this wouldn't use ray-type magic but would still follow the railgun model, constructing a small, portable "rail" that could fire fist-sized shells.

The concept definitely had no problems—they were sure of it. But during the research process, they discovered a shocking result: the device now sitting in front of them.

A shell without any carved runes was just floating in the air on the rail, drifting left and right, with no signs of falling.

Heaven as their witness, they'd only wanted to add some runes to the portable magic railgun's rail to reduce friction between the shell and the barrel, letting the barrel last longer and making the shell fly faster and farther after being fired. But the result... wasn't what they wanted, but it was even more shocking.

As the God of Technology's most loyal believers, they knew a lot of information. In almost an instant, they thought of the miracle on the Day of Ascension.

Cars and trains flying in the sky... Maybe they really could be achieved using the "rail rune set" on the railgun in front of them.

Since shells could fly on this, other things definitely could too!

The apprentice quickly voiced his thoughts, then changed direction. "If it's magic-powered cars, I feel like it might not be very convenient unless we build these kinds of rails on all the streets, all the areas. But trains are extremely suitable. Trains already run on rails anyway—we're just changing the rails... Being able to float on the rails without needing to touch them, I can't even imagine how fast they could go!"

"Right?!" The Wild Mage's breathing was also rapid. "Besides that, we can upgrade a lot of our production lines. For example, the assembly line Viscount Roster invented gathers people doing different jobs together, passing what the previous step completed to the next step's group. When things get busy, mistakes often happen. So what if we had everyone gather around a rail like this? The person at the previous step takes it down, completes the processing, puts it on top, then it automatically transmits to the next step..."

"Great idea!" The apprentice's eyes lit up. This really was a good application scenario.

As their thinking diverged, the two of them thought of more and more application scenarios and usage effects, getting more and more excited. "How about we test it in the Tech Lab? If it really works, we can have Viscount Roster prepare for a full-scale upgrade right away!"

The more they felt the opportunity was huge, the more excited they got. They really couldn't wait at all. The single-soldier portable magic railgun was completely thrown to the back of their minds.

Northern Gray Fort Empire, border with the Kingdom of Dawn.

The Month of Revival was already half over. The temperature here had become quite warm and comfortable. Everything around had turned lush and green, giving off a comfortable feeling everywhere. The Northern Grand Duke of the Gray Fort Empire stood at the border, looking into the distance, his eyes full of worry.

A breeze drifted by, and he couldn't help squinting his eyes. "The situation's changing... really is bizarre. What exactly does the Church of War want to do... I hope the border won't be affected. This year's spring plowing isn't finished yet..."

This was arguably the most important time period of the entire year. Even the slightest accident could lead to complete crop failure. In fact, complete crop failure in the Kingdom of Dawn's southern region this year had already become a certainty.

Farming had already been delayed because of the Knight Order's presence. Even if the Kingdom of Dawn solved the problem now, this year's spring plowing couldn't possibly continue smoothly, and most of what had already been planted had probably been damaged.

"The empire's granaries have been pretty full these past few years. Even if war breaks out, there won't be too big a problem. By comparison, what I'm more worried about is those crazy Church of War soldiers getting lost and charging toward us. Lately, Church of War people have been randomly going insane pretty often." The Northern Grand Duke's heir stood beside him, his face also full of worry. "And also..."

"Also what?" Seeing his heir hesitating, the Northern Grand Duke's brow furrowed slightly. "Given the current situation, just say whatever you're thinking. It might affect our future. We can't let any doubts slip by."
