Chapter 104: The Merchant Guild Proposal
"Help with trade? Task assignments?"
"Take the dwarf elf, for example. He wants to cooperate with Roster territory, so he needs to find someone from Roster territory among anonymous users on the Magic Net, then use various methods to confirm their identity, then go through a series of troublesome verification processes and whatnot before finally reaching cooperation."
Ren thought about it and said, "What if we built a platform that lets them complete identity verification and communicate easily? Wouldn't that work better?"
Honestly, Ren's first thought was actually to build a banking plus logistics system, but after thinking carefully, neither had the conditions to be implemented yet. First, in this world, every lord had the authority to mint currency, leading to all kinds of mixed-quality coins. To create an online bank, you'd need offline banking branches spread throughout the entire mortal realm as a foundation—extremely difficult. Second, taxation between territories was complicated. Building a logistics system would require too much manpower and resources.
These weren't things the current Church of Technology could accomplish.
But taking a step back, providing these mortals with a better trade communication platform was doable. Every merchant could publicize their territory's specialty products and production locations. Every buyer would also need to use their real name, ensuring business could be conducted through the network more easily.
Extending it a bit, developing a feature for accepting tasks was also possible. Those with needs could post bounties, specify their requirements—whether seeking certain items, having certain objects made, or even taking out certain enemies—and mark the payment they were willing to give. If someone was willing, they could naturally accept it.
"That's true." The Goddess of Magic nodded slightly. "Task assignments work the same way. I seem to have seen many tasks offering bounties for various items in the Magic Space. Occasionally there are problems with timing and order. We could specifically create a feature for them to claim tasks."
"Alright, we'll study it more when we get back to the divine realm." Ren waved his hand with a smile. "Right now, the most important thing is enjoying this hard-earned vacation... And I have to say, the fruit wine these elves brew is really good—way better than what the Kingdom of Dawn has."
"The cake's really good too... though of course, mainly because the ingredients are good."
The comfortable environment and excellent food helped both Ren and the Goddess of Magic relax considerably. They even abandoned the idea of doing work and properly enjoyed about five days of vacation life in the mortal realm before returning to the divine realm.
In those five days, they visited four different countries, enjoying many different local customs and specialties. Distance didn't seem to exist for them.
On the fourth day after they left the elven capital, the craftsmen from Roster territory, carrying various materials and riding giant eagles, successfully arrived in the elven kingdom.
In just a few days, they built a huge self-charging magic array and Magic Power Network for the dwarf elf Labrechaun.
Watching all the "Magic Conductor fermentation tanks" and similar equipment start running, the shrewd dwarf elf's face immediately showed intense joy and excitement.
"Oh my god! Your territory's technology is truly amazing!" The dwarf elf Labrechaun was so excited he even trembled a bit. He felt like endless gold was pouring down on him. "I really don't know how to thank Mr. Roster—whether it's these Magic Conductor devices, the self-charging magic array, or the Magic Power Network, without Mr. Roster's strong support, who knows how long it would've taken us to accomplish this."
Clearly, the effects these Magic Conductors demonstrated far exceeded his expectations.
"Viscount Roster says we're all brothers in the Church of Technology, so helping each other is what we should do. Won't the Kingdom of Dawn also need your strong support for druid potions in the future?" The project manager Viscount Roster sent was also sharp, saying with a smile, "Speaking of which, I came here with some things I'd like to discuss with you, sir."
"Unfortunately, I can't help with much—I'm only good at dealing with money." When the dwarf elf Labrechaun heard there were other matters, he immediately spoke up, afraid he'd need to communicate with elven nobility about something.
"It's exactly about money, and you're the best person for it." The project manager said, "You should've seen the power of our Roster territory's Magic Conductors. And we need large quantities of druid potions, so Viscount Roster asked me to discuss with you about opening up a completely new trade route... Of course, if possible, he'd even more like to cooperate with you to establish a merchant guild spanning multiple countries."
Labrechaun was the richest elf in the elven kingdom and the kingdom's biggest business tycoon. You could say that half of all business in the elven kingdom was in his hands.
In Roster's view, this guy was the perfect partner.
"We're so far from Roster territory. Long-term cooperation isn't easy, let alone forming a merchant guild spanning multiple countries..."
The dwarf elf Labrechaun frowned slightly. To get from here to Roster territory—no, to get to the Kingdom of Dawn—there were three routes. The closest was cutting straight through the entire Gray Fort Empire, which was obviously extremely difficult since the Gray Fort Empire and Kingdom of Dawn didn't have a friendly relationship. The second route went through over a dozen small countries, but these countries were extremely chaotic and you'd easily get robbed. The last route was by sea, but few people sailed north—this route would still need to be reopened!
"You just need to say whether you're interested. If you are, I have a complete merchant guild proposal prepared by Viscount Roster. If not, we'll just talk about normal Magic Conductor and druid potion business... Though I should remind you of one thing: the technology we've mastered probably exceeds your imagination. Like this druid potion factory technology—we have much more." The manager looked at this elven merchant with a smile, professionally.
"Why do you want to form a merchant guild with me?" This dwarf elf gentleman hadn't built his business to such a scale for nothing. He wouldn't have any particular thoughts or misjudge the situation just because of the other party's words.
"Roster is now the Kingdom of Dawn's Finance Minister, so it's not appropriate for him to trade with many countries, much less to be the promoter of this entirely new trade system. But you, as an elf, doing this is perfectly normal." The manager spoke bluntly.
Composure was the most normal thing for elves, but for the dwarf elf gentleman who controlled the elven kingdom's commercial empire, this was actually a disadvantage. So many years ago, he'd already thrown that out the window.
"Fine! I agree. Tell me about this new trade model!"
