Chapter 185: Bring Him Along

"The legend of immortals in the Celestial Secret Realm has always been just that—a legend, never verified. You actually believe in this?" Xiu Yingmei expressed some surprise.

In this era, the notion of gods and ghosts has long been dispelled. Now, even if immortals and monsters truly exist, they are considered no more than Secret Spirits, nothing to be overly fearful of.

However, the immortals in the legend of the Celestial Secret Realm aren't referring to Secret Spirits, but to High Level humans evolved from cultivators.

There is a popular notion now that the Celestial Secret Realm is home to immortals, or High Level humans, who made the realm appear to select humans evolved to a significant level to enter the Celestial Secret Realm, akin to adopting excellent children from an orphanage.

This is merely the speculation of a portion of humanity, with no concrete evidence. Families like the Xiu Family naturally don't believe in such rosy dreams.

If there truly are more advanced humans in that Celestial Secret Realm, bringing humans up there will only result in them being exploited like slaves, not for their enjoyment.

As a family in a high position, they understand too well that only with enough people at the bottom can privilege at the top be maintained.

Nonetheless, among all the Secret Realms, there are indeed many traces of humans that currently remain unexplained.

For example, many Secret Realms feature complex and ancient structures. For Secret Spirits whose physical evolution is advanced, they rarely care for such external things. Even High Intelligence Secret Spirits seldom build complex structures; such actions seem characteristic of humans, slow in self-evolution.

There are also many mysterious items that appear to be human handiwork, such as the Pill Furnace that Xiu Jie Ming mentioned earlier.

Pill Furnaces, being so complex, are more easily crafted by humans. Secret Spirits wouldn't need alchemy since they can consume raw materials directly using their inherent talents.

"This is merely speculation. Perhaps the King of Zhang gained his current achievements with the help of Immortal Pill from the mountain," Xiu Jie Ming said. "Those cultivators we found earlier did return alive after entering the gate of Cuiyun Mountain, but soon after, they started coughing blood uncontrollably and died in a few days. After extensive research, we finally uncovered the secret behind their deaths."

"What was the cause?" Xiu Yingmei inquired.

"On the line of Cuiyun Mountain was sealed a talisman likely used for Spirit-Suppressing Talisman purposes, gathering all the Primordial Energy from Cuiyun Mountain's veins into a Primordial Evil that enveloped the mountain. The closer to the Pill Furnace, the denser the Primordial Evil. The earlier people perished due to silent contamination by this Primordial Evil after emerging."

Looking toward Cuiyun Mountain, Xiu Jie Ming continued, "A few days ago, for unknown reasons, the Spirit-Suppressing Talisman of Cuiyun Mountain broke, and now the Primordial Evil is slowly dissipating. Once it fully disperses, we can ascend the mountain to see if the Pill Furnace truly contains Immortal Pills. If it does, under no circumstances should we let them fall into others' hands."

"Could that talisman have been made by the King of Zhang? If it was his doing, once broken, he would naturally know," Xiu Yingmei pondered aloud.

"So what if he knows? Beimang Mountain is already under our Celestial Court Army's control. Even if he wants to intervene, it's not so easy. Besides, this is Blessed Land; cultivators above level 30 can't enter. If he sends anyone within level 30, it's no concern." Xiu Jie Ming spoke blandly.

"Brother is right. Within the Third Awakening, even the descendants of the Ten Celestial Kings are hard-pressed to match you, let alone this being our Celestial Court Army territory," Xiu Yingmei laughed.

"Is Chen Guan in Beimang Mountain now?" Xiu Jie Ming suddenly changed the subject.

"That's what the intel suggests. We only know he went into Wild Ghost Cave with Jiang Qiemo, but his whereabouts are unknown after coming out." For some reason, Xiu Yingmei didn't mention her dealings with Chen Guan to Xiu Jie Ming.

"Get him over here and bring him along to Cuiyun Mountain," Xiu Jie Ming said casually.

"If you want to handle him, no need for such hassle; just leave it to me," Xiu Yingmei immediately offered.

Xiu Jie Ming smiled, "He hasn't earned my attention to deal with. However, taking him with us ensures Ji Nanhong will accompany us to Cuiyun Mountain."

Xiu Yingmei couldn't quite understand, "Why bring Ji Nanhong along? If she comes and we truly find an Immortal Pill, won't we have to share with her?"

Now, the Celestial Court Army still carries the surname Ji. If Ji Nanhong is aware of the Immortal Pill, the Ji Military Commander would know too, and the Xiu Family could no longer keep it all.

"Sharing with her is beneficial. Our Xiu and Ji Families are essentially one; success for one means success for both, loss for one means loss for both; we understand this, the Ji Military Commander does too, and the Chief Judge is aware. Everyone hopes our two families can become as close as one. It's just that Nanhong is too young, still immature, and doesn't understand this logic."

"Now she's of age. It's time she gains more experience and grasps some truths."

Xiu Yingmei thought for a moment and then smiled, "You want the Ji Military Commander to see our sincerity and capability, right? But the cost is too high. If there really is an Immortal Pill, do we truly share it with Ji Nanhong?"

"Giving her everything is fine, as long as the Ji Military Commander is decisive enough to unite the Ji and Xiu Families," Xiu Jie Ming stated.

"Brother, I'm sorry for the trouble," Xiu Yingmei sighed, understanding Xiu Jie Ming's meaning.

The woman Xiu Jie Ming wished to marry was the daughter of the Ji Family, no matter if it was Ji Nanhong or not, that didn't matter.

This time bringing Ji Nanhong was to show her that compared to the Xiu Family, Chen Guan, who was of ordinary background, couldn't provide any help to Ji Nanhong.

The Celestial Court Army needs to prepare for the unpredictable future of the Divine Land. She requires genuinely powerful support.

Showing Ji Nanhong the real ability of the Xiu Family and Xiu Jie Ming serves mostly to show the Ji Military Commander their prowess and sincerity.

Only if the Ji Military Commander agrees to betroth Ji Nanhong to Xiu Jie Ming will the two families become one. The Xiu Family can pay any price, even handing over the Immortal Pill to Ji Nanhong.

Of course, only if the Ji Military Commander agrees to marry Ji Nanhong into the Xiu Family; otherwise, the Immortal Pill won't fall into her hands.

As for Chen Guan, a cultivator of the First Awakening, Xiu Jie Ming never gave him a second thought.

Xiu Yingmei agreed, turning to inform the Reserve Team to bring Chen Guan over for coordinated action. This way, Ji Nanhong would be informed of the matter and should be able to make it over.

"That works. If brother can confidently use the Immortal Pill as a dowry to marry Ji Nanhong, then I can openly recruit Chen Guan into my ranks." Lately, Xiu Yingmei felt increasingly indignant. Why should Ji Nanhong enjoy Chen Guan, when her heart felt quite uncomfortable with the idea?
