God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank

Chapter 126: Meeting of important young people

As they walked down the stairs, he ran into Laura, who was doing some work behind the scenes.

"Laura, I thought you were in the main room." He greeted her.

She turned and smiled at him. "Louis, I..."

Then she froze. She stared at the woman behind Louis, walking casually as if she owned the place.

That woman was more than peculiar. She hadn't seen her arrive, but she was completely sure she knew her, and it didn't take her long to understand why she had that feeling.

"Rebecca Priestley?!" Her cry would surely have been heard throughout the building, had Louis not been quick to silence her with his hand.

"Shh. It's problematic if they find out she's here," he whispered.

She rolled her eyes at him and stared at him. "How long have you known that woman? She's from one of the Castles!" she reminded him.

Louis smiled. "It's a long story."

That was enough to blow Laura's mind. But then she felt someone staring at her, so she rolled her eyes toward Rebecca.

"Is something wrong?" she asked.

Rebecca approached her curiously and looked her up and down intently.

"Girl, you are..." She frowned deeply, as if remembering something.

Cold sweat ran down Laura's spine like a waterfall.

But after a few seconds, Rebecca shook her head. "No. It's nothing. I apologize," she said, then looked at Louis.

"I didn't know you were friends with such a stunning beauty," she joked.

Her little joke, whether she meant it or not, visibly relaxed Laura.

And Louis shrugged in response. "All my friends are beautiful and have good names, except you."

Rebecca raised her right hand and gently intertwined it with Louis's left hand before speaking. "You said it before, and you're saying it now. Do you really hate my name that much? What did it do to you?"

Louis squeezed her gently and pulled her toward him, surprising her. "Maybe it's just childishness on my part, because I had a bad experience with that name. Why? Do you want to erase that bad experience?" A mischievous smile flashed across his lips before Rebecca turned away abruptly and let go of him.

"Tsk, you take too many liberties," she complained, even though she had actually blushed at the closeness of their faces.

"Hahaha, in the end, you can't help yourself. That's why you lost to me, you lack malice," he teased.

That exchange was fully witnessed by Laura, who had her mouth open.

This man... seemed more impressive than he appeared.

He was mocking the Priestleys' favorite daughter, and she was simply accepting his taunts calmly!

Damn. Either he had a lot of guts, or his status was at least equal to hers.

She didn't think there was a second alternative.

"Laura, if you're done, follow us. We're going to meet your dear friend, it would be rude not to say hello to him," said Louis, waving to her from a considerable distance.

She finally woke up from her thoughts. "Oh!" Although she had no idea which friend he was referring to.

Had Professor Hardrial come? That's what she thought.

They quickly arrived at the main room, behind the scenes. Important people were there, including the six leaders of the two Mafia Houses.

As soon as they saw Louis arrive, they bowed respectfully, and when they saw Rebecca arrive, their jaws almost dropped.

The surprise was such that they couldn't react in the short term. They had just seen a man from the Great Houses outside, and now, suddenly, a woman from one of the most prominent Castles!

Shit...

What's more, she was known to move among the mafias, but in Velfast! Dozens of miles from here!

What is this dangerous woman doing here?

They forced a smile when Louis introduced them and bowed as if afraid it wasn't enough.

"Nice to meet you, Miss Rebecca. We hope you like our territory."

Rebecca looked at Louis. "You've trained them well," she said.

"Haha, it's the effort of the last few weeks," he replied, looking at them.

"Go escort that boy here. Tell him I asked to see him," he said.

"That boy?" They stood up, afraid of offending Rebecca, and looked at Louis in confusion. What boy?

But then, one of them seemed to pinch another. Finally, they realized.

'Shit. Better not think about it.' They were about to make a mental fuss over their leader calling an heir to one of the Great Houses a "boy," but what was the point?

They had just seen a casual exchange between him and a member of a Castle. What else could they see?

They turned around and left the room with their heads still bowed.

A little while later, they returned.

Louis, Rebecca, and Laura were already seated at the meeting table. Jessy had arrived at some point, as she was preparing the girls and boys who would model at the company's opening ceremony.

But she also had to pay attention to other things, such as meeting important people.

She had met Laura before. A Third Level magician is impressive, and she is also an Armamentalist, like Louis.

But Rebecca? Jessy was a spy herself; she knew about powerful people, and Rebecca was on the list of the first people she would never have to spy on.

Under no circumstances could she entertain the idea of spying on such a dangerous woman. Not only because she belonged to Priestley Castle, but also because of her own way of doing things.

A playful and extravagant woman but commonly known for being ruthless, she is so dangerous in every way that just sitting at the same table with her makes Jessy's skin crawl.

But seeing the friendly and slightly playful exchanges between her and Louis, she began to accept it. From what she saw, she seemed interested in her master. Her constant advances seemed very natural, even though she would then simply turn away to ignore them.

And the fact that Louis didn't reject them made him think that she would soon have a "Lady" too.

Somehow, she also paid special attention to Laura, who returned her gaze.

Jessy seemed to be indicating one thing: Aren't you going to move, too? She's going to take him away from you.

To which Laura seemed to respond with her gaze: Huh? What am I supposed to do?

To which Jessy replied: ヽ(ヅ)ノ

To tell the truth, she had no idea.

But, back to the present, the mafia leaders entered through the door, followed by several people, among them a relatively young man wearing elegant clothes and a top hat.

The first thing that caught his attention was the top hat of the man sitting across from him. It was astonishingly elegant—a design he had never seen before and very well suited to the cold weather.

As a lover of top hats, he wanted to ask where he had bought it, but he was stunned and frozen when he saw the owner.

Louis already knew it was Mark coming, so he smiled. "You can leave," he said to the mafia leaders, who couldn't have heard kinder words of salvation than those.

They immediately fled the room like frightened pigeons.

Mark also looked at those who had come with him and gestured for them to leave.

Soon, only Louis, Mark, Rebecca, Laura, and Jessy remained in the room.

Jessy was the only one who didn't understand what was happening. Why had two such ridiculously powerful people suddenly come to her company's opening?

Had she somehow become some kind of renowned businesswoman throughout the Empire and had no idea?

Although she knew they weren't here for her, but for Louis.

Mark scanned everyone with his gaze and momentarily fixed it on Rebecca. He hadn't expected to see that woman here.

"Miss Rebecca... It's been a long time." He greeted her respectfully. "I didn't expect to see you here," he said.

But then he recovered. "In fact, I didn't expect to see anyone here."

Rebecca simply shrugged. "Tsk, so the Nevilles are already making moves to become a Castle. What a bunch of troublemakers you all are," she said, glancing furtively at Mark and Louis.

Mark smiled and looked at Louis, then at Laura. "So you're the leader of the South, huh. I'm impressed. News of your exploits has even reached my father, and he believes you have a great future ahead of you. Few do, you know?"

Laura looked away. "Don't look at me. I'm just here to help him."

Louis shrugged and motioned for him to sit down. "Since your father has good things to say about me, then let me hear your arrangements."

He finally sat down.

Then Rebecca opened the conversation, although she really wasn't very interested in doing so. She was simply curious about Mark's presence here.

"Since you didn't deny what I said earlier, you're up to something big, right? What are you up to?" Her eyes narrowed, showing that she was suspicious of something.
