Chapter 95: Gluttony
"My name is Gluttony," the creature responded, mightily, with a deep guttural tone to his voice. "I am one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and also the sixth general of the Infernal Realm. I am here to destroy this planet and perish all its creatures with it."
Just as Gluttony finished his dialogue, Cain pointed his hand towards Gluttony, telling his Eidolon to attack. "Eidolon strike him down," he said, his tone cautious.
Eidolon lunged up to slash toward Gluttony, but his claws didn't connect. Gluttony blocked the Eidolon's claws with relative ease, with just his pinky finger. Then, it lightly pushed the Eidolon back, and just an inch later, the Eidolon's skin ripped off, all the flesh and blood sprawling to the ground, as the bones were launched through the sky, breaking a static icy rock in the Kuiper Belt.
"Eidolon..." Cain muttered to himself, whispering to himself like a schizophrenic person. His voice was low and ignorant. He didn't want to believe it, but his Eidolon was gone, gone for good.
"Is that all you puny mortals have to offer for a general of the Infernal Realm?" Gluttony scoffed, looking unimpressed, as Marcus's eyes stirred open.
Marcus stopped levitating, standing up, as a domain of darkness formed around the planet. Then, a giant lance-like weapon formed right above his head, as he hurled all the shadow he had accumulated thus far into that single lance.
"Obilivon Lance," Marcus said, his voice unwavering against the suffocating aura of Gluttony. "This is the end for you, Gluttony."
Gluttony tilted his head. A large smirk engulfed his face as it braced for impact, swinging his hands to the side, letting Marcus hit a direct shot. Marcus hurled the lance over, his shadow domain boosting the lance's speed and strength, enough for that single lance to be able to destroy the entirety of Jupiter, if it so desired.
He launched it with every ounce of his strength, every fiber of his being. The lance was hurled towards Gluttony, going tenfold the speed of light, something that a triple evolved Adventurer shouldn't, techinally, be able to do.
The lance collided with Gluttony, and darkness engulfed the area. Adventurers were praying to god that Gluttony was dead, and as the darkness settled and the shadow domain wore off, with Marcus flailing to the ground, Gluttony still lived on.
"Is that all you got?" Gluttony asked, but then acknowledged the effort put into the attack. "Though I must say that attack was splendid, so an A plus for effort, but, unfortunately, puny attacks like that aren't effective against creatures like me."
Then, out of nowhere, another shadow domain forged, and Marcus was barely able to stand and open his eyes, so he wasn't able to summon another domain. Everyone inquired who did it, until a larger, more primordial, stronger Oblivion Lance formed on top of Gluttony, with people realizing that it was the end of the journey for them.
Gluttony hurled the lance forward, at speeds that would put shame to a hundred light-years in a blink. The world froze, and everyone was still and frozen. The lance was stopped right away, as Gluttony wondered what had happened.
Then, out of nowhere, in front of him, the Demon King, or Demon God, as some creatures from the Infernal Realm refer to him, stood before him. The general went to his knees in an instant, as the Demon God looked curious as to why Gluttony was wreaking so much havoc, so soon, as the Infernal Realm still hadn't perfectly blended in with the universe.
The Demon King rose Gluttony up, tilting his head as it asked: "Why do you wreak havoc? It's not time yet. I want you to stop this attack of yours and come back to the Infernal Realm. There are still three mortal years until our realms converge. So, wait till then, or suffer a fate worse than death."
Gluttony bowed to the Demon King, sweating profusely, as the Demon King disappeared in an instant. Faster than Gluttony, as he looked up to see the Demon King gone. He snapped his fingers to reset the order of the world, reversing any damage dealt, and healing all the people, but not bringing the dead ones back.
He snarled as he saw the mortals one last time before disappearing from reality, as if he never existed to begin with. As he disappeared, time unfroze, and everyone was shocked as everything went back to normal. They all felt energized, and the ground was flat like before; all the injured people recovered, and Marcus stood up, feeling all the strain in his body disappearing after he had launched one of his most powerful attacks.
No one uttered a single word; they didn't care to speak, as if thinking they would upset Gluttony and that he would somehow summon himself to destroy the planet once and for all.
Elesch and Nova made eye contact, giving each other that knowing look, which didn't sit well with Adam, as he was just creeped out.
"Everyone," Marcus spoke up, breaking the deafening silence. "We should clean up all this gore before the people return; we can't have civilians see all this."
Everyone nodded, working together to remove all the flesh, rotting bones, and blood from the ground. Removing the dead bodies of their brothers, sisters, friends, and comadres, whom they promised they would survive until the end with. Tears ran through nearly everyone, silent, but there, enough for Marcus to acknowledge.
Cain and his syndicate took the flesh and blood of Eidolon, his number one pet, since they would try to revive Eidolon back into reality, and they just needed flesh or bones. He and his syndicate members disappeared instantly, knowing that if more people were to spot them, it could stir up some trouble with Marcus, which he didn't want his brother, from a different mother, to have.
He left for Japan in an instant, while telling his members to go back to North Reach and assess any damages. As Nova and Elesch talked amongst themselves in a corner.
