Chapter 79: A Father's Revenge: Part III
The lackey turned toward him, amusement taking shape in his monstrous face. "Pathetic. You can't even stand, and yet you bark."
He squeezed the root tighter around Elesch's neck. She let out a choked gasp, her struggles weakening. Adam, half-buried in rubble, forced himself up to move, dragging his shattered, fractured body forward with relentless willpower.
"Elesch, don't give up..." His hand reached out, trembling, fingers clawing at the dirt. "I'm coming, please don't give up..."
The lackey's aura swelled again, the ground cracking as more roots burst out, creating a decaying forest of thorns around him. His body grew taller, more grotesque, a silhouette of nightmare against the ruined battlefield.
Nova stirred again, forcing his body up. The lackey was shocked; nevertheless, he slapped Nova roughly, cracking the bones in his cheeks. Nova felt the sharp pain course through him as he collided roughly against the ground, creating a massive crater from the sheer magnitude of the collision.
Nova stayed down, his body unable to even twitch an atom, as Elesch's muffled screams started to fade slowly. Adam fully rose, looking straight up as his eyes glowed purple. The spark of fire ignited as rain poured heavenly down, the softness and coldness returning Adam to his senses.
He took a step and instantly vanished, only to appear behind the lackey. The lackey was faster, so he knew where Adam was and how he was going to retaliate. But then, suddenly, a claw mark appeared on the lackey's chest. The rotten, decaying roots around him were truly decaying, as green blood poured out from his chest.
The lackey didn't flinch, though he realized that Adam's claws were now able to penetrate his body. It let go of Elesch's neck, targeting Adam instead. He lunged at Adam, as Adam feinted to the left, but the roots already smashed into Adam, from the side, bottom, top, every single angle possible, creating holes in his body.
Then, the lackey planted a seed in Adam's body, and since it was raining, the seed grew throughout his body. Blood trickled out, but Adam screamed in fury, rushing towards the lackey again, as his body started to slow, since the seed was taking control, making him a real-life tree. He stopped just before the lackey, kneeling on one leg, then on both, as his hands touched the ground, looking down, then he fainted on the ground, his body giving up, his claws vanishing, the seed rising from the ground, taking his limp body upward with its rise, while also tearing Adam apart like a piece of paper.
Elesch screamed as she saw the horror. Her tears mixed in with the rain as she rushed towards Adam, or the newfound tree, hitting it, while looking towards the left, crying even more jaggedly. Then, as she saw the lackey, her screams turned from crying into primordial rage.
She knew she couldn't beat him, but also wanted to vent out her anger, her frustration, the rage that was building up inside her, like an active volcano. She wanted to thrash the lackey's face until even Father couldn't rehabilitate the body.
She got up, the mud almost making her slip, then ran towards the lackey, screaming, as he just grinned viciously. She was halfway there until Marcus stepped in. He used his shadows to put Elesch to sleep, then assessed the damage that was dealt.
"God damn it," he suddenly spoke, his voice low, strained, echoing across the battlefield. "You've just gone and ruined everything, haven't you?"
The lackey tilted his head in confusion as Marcus used his shadows to assemble Nova, Elesch, and Adam in a sort of pile. So that he could protect them much more easily, rather than having his shadows extended across the entire airport, which would just be meaningless.
"You really wrote yourself a death warrant. How foolish can you be?" Marcus asked the lackey, seriously questioned him, his voice calm in the gore the battlefield had been turned into. "I mean, I can easily revive Adam, stitch him up, and knit the other two as well. But fuck man, if I may still call you a man, giant rotten root thingy, whatever fuck you are. Like, you couldn't have at least gone easy, they are still just E-rank."
"You talk too much," the lackey said, gushing towards him at Mach forty-five, but Marcus easily blocked the punch with his fists, then the lackey summoned thick roots with sharp needles on them, which Marcus annihilated easily with his shadow manipulation. "How is this possible? How are you able to do this?"
Marcus didn't utter a word, and then the lackey's limbs were chopped off. He felt pain, as he couldn't generate them using his roots. Then, Marcus Axe kicked him hard on the ground, destroying the entire airport in the process. The shockwave from the collision went as far as Canada and Mexico, bringing havoc even there.
The lackey was able to rebound upward like a spring, then Marcus, casually putting his hands in his pockets, played football with the lackey's head, kicking him on the head with so much kinetic energy that the lackey's skin fell out. All that flesh and organs, tissue, fat, muscles sprawling on the floor, and spreading out as the rain made pathways with all that flesh, distributing to different sections of the airport.
Marcus heard a faint twitch from behind him, seeing the Boss trying to escape, but before the Boss could take another step, Marcus was in front of him. Marcus decided to just knock the Boss unconscious and lock him up in one of the worst jails in the world, where fucking without consent was an understatement.
Marcus went back to the trio, his shadows holding them, as the rain started to gradually dissipate, a rainbow coming into the mix, as the sun also decided to show its face. Marcus smirked at the rainbow, inhaling the magnificent beauty of the rainbow, like he did all those years ago.
