God of Destruction: Living Among Mortals

Chapter 71: Encounter: Part V

Nova woke up at he heard lightning in the far distance. He was still very sleepy, and with all the kittens cuddling with him, he smiled and went back to grabbing and playing with Freya's breast, like a child sucking on his mother's milk.

She wasn't naked, but he was poking her chest as if he had never seen something so blouncy, juicy, and amazing in his life. It was Freya after all, the most beautiful woman in existence. Past, future, present, no one had anything on her.

Then, in his dream, he heard another, much larger lightning strike, so he woke up again, turned on the TV, and saw on the news that a massive storm had been summoned and was fueling a monster-like person, as two people tried to defend themselves.

At first, he made an annoyed face, not caring about the storm or the two people trying to defeat the monster that was controlling the storm.

Then the camera zoomed in, and his heart stopped. Elesch, her face pale and fierce, flashed across the screen, her limp body placed against the tree. Adam was there too, claws out, blood dripping from all around his body.

Nova's blood ran cold, but he didn't move, didn't yet. The kittens were still curled up to him, and he wouldn't disturb them. Inside, though, rage boiled, like a star about to go supernova.

His fists clenched, nails digging into his palms, drawing blood. Elesch was his only sister. His responsibility, and some freak was trying to kill her. He'd tear them apart, rip their guts out, and burn whatever was left.

A sharp knock on the door broke his focus. Careful not to disturb the kittens, he slid off the couch, placing them gently on a cushion. He opened the door to find Marcus standing there, wearing a leather jacket, his face smiling.

"Nova," Marcus said, voice low. "Elesch and Adam messed with some folks from TNT. One of them turned into a monster that can control red lightning. I'm gonna handle the situation and bring both of them back to you safely. All I want in return is for you to head straight to my office. No questions asked."

Nova nodded, his jaw light, rage still burning in his chest. "She'd better be alive when you get there, otherwise this world will know a evil far greater than whoever the fuck The Nornir was." He growled, his voice barely above a whisper, but heavy with venom.

Marcus's eyes showed his fear, his hair rising high, as this was the first time he had felt fear. And that from an E-rank Adventurer was something he had never expected. Marcus gave a curt nod and turned, already moving.

Nova shut the door behind him, eyes flicking back to the TV, where Elesch's limp face flashed again. He grinned his teeth, he'd wait, but not for long. Whoever did this, he had promised himself, would pay in blood.

---

"Stay down, you piece of shit," Marcus growled, stomping on the musketeer's chest. Blood oozed out, but the creature still twitched, its body trying to heal. Marcus scoffed, spitting on it. "What, you think your little storm's gonna save you? You're not even worth the dirt on my boots, you fucking wannabe demon."

Adam watched, his heart pounding. Marcus was a monster in his own right, tearing through the musketeer like it was nothing. But the creature wasn't done yet. It roared, its body convulsing as the last of the storm's energy poured into it.

Its claws slashed upward, catching Marcus across the arm, tearing through his jacket, and drawing blood. Marcus didn't even blink. He grabbed the musketeer's arm, twisted it until it snapped, and then ripped it clean off.

Blood sprayed the ground, and the creature's scream was cut short as Marcus drove his fist through its skull. The head exploded, brain matter and bone fragments scattering across the ground, sizzling in the fading lightning.

The storm above died, the clouds dissipating into oblivion. The musketeer's body collapsed, limp, its chaotic energy gone. Marcus stood over it, wiping the blood off his fist onto his jeans.

"Fucking amateur," he muttered, turning to Adam. Adam was still on his knees, panting, his body scarred in cuts and burns. Marcus crouched beside him, his smirk softening just a bit. "You good, kid? Looked like you were about to get your ass handed to you."

Adam coughed, spitting blood. "I… I did what I could."

Marcus snorted, clapping him on the shoulder, hard enough to make Adam wince. "Yeah, you did. Not bad for a rookie. But next time, leave the TNT freaks to me, alright? You're not ready for their bullshit yet."

Adam nodded, too tired to argue. He looked around at the mess the playground had turned into: blood, ash, and broken metal everywhere. The police cars were still there, but the cops were either dead or gone, their bodies scattered like a puzzle.

And Elesch, he remembered her, slumped against the tree. He staggered to his feet, ignoring the pain, and ran to her.

She was still alive, breathing shallowly, her skin pale as if she were dead, but still, he could feel the warmth radiating in her chest. Adam knelt beside her, his hands shaking as he checked her pulse. "Come on, you're okay," he whispered, his voice cracking.

Marcus walked over, glancing at her. "She's tough. She'll pull through. Let's get her to the guild infirmary. And you," he pointed at Adam, "don't go picking fights with TNT again unless you've got me on speed dial, you dumbass."

---

They reached the guild infirmary, putting Elesch on a bed, as Adam joined congruent to her. Marcus told him to rest as the doctors and nurses were currently taking care of other patients, so it would take a long time until his turn came.

Adam nodded, closing his eyes, focusing on his breath, as Marcus turned towards the door, hoping to talk to Nova.
