Go Big To Go Home: A Kaiju-Fighting Isekai LitRPG (Book 1 Complete!)

Chapter 110: When The Kaiju’s Clutch Clutches A Kaiju

"We need to clear out," Sekki worried.

"No, we need to kill it, and fast," Keldryn corrected.

"It's Tier 12! We can't fight it when it's just the four of us! We couldn't even put down one Level 49 flunk-out!" Sekki protested.

"We're in the middle of a city! When that thing grows too big for its pen and goes on a rampage, it'll kill hundreds, probably thousands, before anyone else can stop it. We have to try," Keldryn argued. "And I

know

we can win. Right, Mikayla?"

Mikayla quailed, because she knew what he was asking. "If we use

that

right now, loads of people are going to see it. My secret might get out,"

"Also, they might connect us to the Arsonist Armour!" Nya hissed.

Sekki frowned, cocking his head. ". . what are you three talking about?"

"It's only Tier 12," Keldryn ignored the question. "You're Level 29 now, right? I'm at 30. Put together, we'll be only two Levels below it. Sekki's enhancements will make up that difference. If it's just the two of us, there won't be enough similarities to the Arsonist Armour for anyone to notice,"

"That might work. If we only go up to Duplex, we should be able to keep it fairly low-key. I'm doing well on Faith Points, so -"

"Faith Points?!" Sekki gasped.

Mikayla paused and took a breath. "Yes, I'm a demigod, so yes, I have Faith Points. And yes, I was keeping that secret,"

A bone-rattling roar shook the air. They looked back at the Dahu to find that its skull was growing faster than the rest of its body, its eyes suddenly too small for their sockets and sinking into the bone. Flesh tore around its horns, and then immediately knitted itself back together. It thrashed, convulsing in pain, throwing itself against the wall of the enclosure and rubbing its distorting body in a furious attempt to assuage what had to be the most unbearable itch. The wall cracked with a distressing sound of wood and metal breaking, but the Dahu was too insensate to even realise its freedom was almost at hand, just furiously scratching itself all over as its flesh failed to grow in sync with its bones.

"We don't have time to talk about this," Mikayla decided. "Access Demigod System!"

[DEMIGOD SYSTEM ACTIVATED. WELCOME, INHERITOR.]

[YOUR CURRENT FAITH POINT TOTAL IS: 3,199.]

Conscious of Nya and Sekki watching, she turned away and whispered, "Perfect Rainbow Blessing of Teamwork on me, Keldryn and Nocturnus,"

Nya squinted suspiciously, but before she could voice anything, a tendril of light connected Keldryn's Core Controller to hers.

[APPLYING PERFECT RAINBOW BLESSING OF {TEAMWORK} TO THREE INDIVIDUALS.]

[YOUR CURRENT FAITH POINT TOTAL IS: 2,899.]

[CORES DETECTED. SYNERGY DETECTED. CONDITIONS SATISFIED TO INITIATE PANTHEON PROTOCOL.]

Not for the first time, Mikayla wondered what the enigmatic Pantheon Protocol actually was. She'd asked Asika once, but the fairy had replied that she wasn't allowed to tell.

This was her first time reusing a combination, and she grabbed Keldryn's hand, using her copious Willpower to form her control room around them. This time, she remembered to give him a tail hole in his seat on the left before settling into her own central seat. Nocturnus' full body appeared in a seat to her right, and he grinned triumphantly, clenching and unclenching his fingers.

"Sit down and get ready, we're fighting," Keldryn asserted, and Nocturnus huffed a bit as he took his seat on the right-hand side of the cockpit.

The Black Knight Duplex was much the same as she remembered it; the Black Knight's helmet adorned a sharp and angular torso shaped like Skyward Grasscutter's head, ending in its legs. A swirling yin-yang of black and green filled the place in their chest where Skyward Grasscutter's eye would have gone. Their shoulders and arms were bulky and covered in the Black Knight's spikes. Her Cannon was on their left shoulder, and Bluebell was perched on their right. Skyward Grasscutter's wrist blades and Mikayla's Sword had merged into a larger and more ornate weapon, and Ghastreaper had become one with her Oaken Protector, merging into a faux-wood-and-bone shield with a baleful monster skull set into it and sharp blades emerging from its rim.

"Do we really need the shield?" Nocturnus groaned.

"Yes," Mikayla and Keldryn retorted in unison. She breathed a sigh of relief that she'd worked out how to control which voices were transmitted through the armour and which weren't; it would be troublesome if Nya or Sekki heard a third voice coming from their armour. Which was also why she hadn't dragged either of them in to form Triplex. The Dahu was only Tier 12, Level 59 was all they needed.

They looked out to find the Black Knight Duplex had reached full size, now looming over the pen and the distorted Dahu. The roof of the warehouse had exploded around them, leaving them both inside a large hole. Hopefully no one was close enough to notice the alterations to the Black Knight.

All the same, better to end this quickly. Mikayla raised their sword, reversed it and brought it down towards the Dahu, hoping to impale it on the massive blade and slay it in an instant.

<=====}—o

The Dahu had never known agony like this.

He didn't know what had been in that two-legs he'd eaten. But while he'd suffered plenty since the vile, cruel two-legs had captured him and not killed him for some reason, at present he couldn't help but miss the cage they'd kept him in. Anything would be preferable to the energy rampaging through his body that seemed to escalate with every second, no end in sight. It was finding homes in his cells, making them stretch and swell unevenly, ripping his body apart and stitching it back together

wrong

, over and over again.

[YOU HAVE RECEIVED A QUEST!]

A popup appeared in his vision, one that he could not read but could intuitively understand what it was asking . . and what it was

offering

.

[QUEST: DESTROY LEICHENG. STEP ONE: KILL THE INHERITOR OF TEAMWORK. REWARD: TIER UP, GUARANTEED HEALING ABILITY.]

He looked up, up at the massive warrior that had appeared and was now looming over his cage. It was highlighted in his vision. This was the Inheritor of Teamwork.

Its single huge claw was coming down towards him. It meant to slay him.

He would not allow that.

He would have his freedom, and no tainted power or giant enemy would stop him!

<=====}—o

The Black Knight Duplex's sword stopped, and Mikayla made a noise of confusion. She looked down, squinting through the translucent panels of their mech.

". . what the hell?"

The still-comparatively-small Dahu had caught her sword on its horns. It slammed a hoof down, and its front leg suddenly swelled, forcing its body upwards. Overbalanced, Mikayla let it knock their sword away, and it capitalised, bouncing back onto its hind legs and then bucking forwards, headbutting the Black Knight Duplex in the shin.

They stumbled, and more of the building collapsed behind them.

"Be careful! You'll release the other monsters!" Nya's voice reached them, holding notes of warning.

"Then deal with that!" Keldryn retorted as the Dahu retreated and snarled, bouncing on its swollen hooves.

"Sekki, some buffs would be good!" Mikayla added.

The monster lowered its head and charged, almost tripping over its mismatched feet as they grew between steps, but kicking off with a leg that bulged with mutating muscle. Its horns lit up and it crashed into the space between the Black Knight Duplex's legs, sending it stumbling back.

Keldryn and Nocturnus both winced.

A surge of power flowed into their Armour, suffusing its pilots, one that Mikayla recognised as Sekki's litany of buffs. She grinned and shield bashed the Dahu away, the motion causing more of the roof to collapse around them. It stumbled on legs that weren't the same size, and as its front leg became swollen it used the recoil to put further distance between them.

"I cannot believe it. It is harnessing the Clutch, weaponising its own transfiguration!" Nocturnus sounded somewhere between horrified and excited.

"What does that mean?!" Mikayla demanded.

"That this is going to be a very difficult fight!"

The Dahu raised its horns, stained with its own blood, and buds of light spread from them, then all started flying towards the Black Knight Duplex like a barrage of homing missiles. Mikayla crouched and covered the merged Armour with their shield, weathering the strikes.

There was a sickening crack as the Dahu's muscles suddenly became too heavy for the bones in its left hind leg. The Technique it was using broke down and it stumbled, favouring its right side, letting out a howl of pain.

Nocturnus seized the opportunity, driving the Black Knight Duplex to the side and driving the blade towards its front left leg. The strike landed true, sending the Dahu rearing back amidst a spray of blood.

Its muscles bulged, forcing more of the red liquid from its veins, and it staggered, stumbling into the wall of the pen on uneven legs and crashing straight through it. Its eyes were filled with rage as it refocused on the enemy, but the distressed cries of the caged monsters it had just blundered into distracted it.

The monster's back legs tensed and then, in a spray of Stamina, the Dahu leapt high into the air, punching straight through the ceiling of the hideout. "It's fleeing! After it!" Nocturnus demanded, but before they could do more than take a couple of steps, it came back down, landing with a burst of destructive energy.

On top of the stack of cages.

The edifice and its contents were crushed into the ground in a spray of broken metal and chunks of flesh. The blood of caged monsters splattered in a way that Mikayla had thought could only happen in horror movies. The Dahu let out a sort of triumphant laughing bleat.

Mikayla gasped. "It's killing the other monsters?"

"It's earning death points," Keldryn frowned. "This place is a Level factory. There's nothing stopping that thing from using it as a

Tier

factory too,"

The Dahu had seemingly decided fighting was a poor use of time, as it was already charging into and scattering another pile of cages. This time, several human pirates were caught in the blast, scattered and crushed beneath the weight of the metal cages. The Dahu bleated triumphantly and began to dance through the wreckage, bringing its hooves down on fallen men and monsters alike and crushing them into bloody paste.

". . oh, that's messed up,"

"We must defeat it now! Before it grows any stronger!" Nocturnus insisted.

The Black Knight Duplex charged after it, Mikayla letting Keldryn drive while she lined up shots with the Cannon and Bluebell. The warehouse collapsed around them as their passage ripped through the roof, and she groaned; there was too much debris around, she couldn't aim with enough precision to be sure that she wouldn't just be wasting Mana and Stamina on destroying the wharf even more.

"Nocturnus, please tell me I'm imagining things and that thing isn't

healing itself?"

Mikayla blanched as she heard Keldryn's question, and refocused on looking for herself.

Sure enough, the transformation that the Dahu was going through seemed to be keeping it alive. Its flesh was split open by the motions of muscles too big to be contained by its skin, only to knit back together seconds later. Its swelling bones ripped through its pelt, exposing themselves to open air, only for its fur to wrap around them once more. There was no longer any trace of the bruise she had inflicted with the earlier shield bash, and the wound from their Sword had been reduced to a mere scar.

"Not to interrupt! But we need some help!" Mikayla twisted in her seat to see that the surviving pirates had gathered together and stumbled upon Nya and Sekki. They were woefully outnumbered and fleeing into the maze of cages, the telltale blue glow of Sekki's speed enhancement keeping them just barely ahead of the gang of pirates.

The Dahu's head crashed into a sword that Nocturnus hastily used to block. "Focus on the fight!"

"But our friends!" Mikayla wrestled with herself. The big downside to the Blessing of Teamwork was that they couldn't be in two places at once. Why had she been more worried about Nya and Sekki finding out about Nocturnus than she had been about keeping them safe? There was no time to beat herself up - there had to be something she could do.

Mikayla blinked. "Wait. I wonder . . Nya! Sekki! Are you two up to try something weird?"

"What's a little more insanity on top of everything else that's happened today?" Sekki retorted in a tone of forced flippancy.

"Go ahead!" Nya concurred.

"Access Demigod System," Mikayla shouted. "Apply the Blessing of Teamwork

to Nya and Sekki!"
