Chapter 49: Chapter 49: What The Hell Did Marsh Do?
At least fifty or sixty meters away, the group of monsters had finally located Marsh.
The monsters roared in unison and charged toward him.
Ten monsters—nothing too overwhelming, but still a challenge.
Marsh observed as his detection skill flared to life.
[Ferin Orc Warrior]
[Level: 15]
There was no additional information, no stats, no skills.
This was the first time his detection had returned with so little information.
Marsh saw long, slithering tails trailing behind the Ferin Orc Warriors. Each warrior resembled a giant lizard—massive and capable of walking upright.
The roar echoed throughout the battle space, drawing the attention of other Ferin Orcs nearby.
Suddenly, several more groups of Ferin Orcs appeared within Marsh's line of sight.
If this had been another type of fighter, they would likely have handled this situation with a wave of their strongest attacks, immediately taking down the first few Orcs before retreating and avoiding a siege. Once surrounded, the outcome would be certain—defeat.
However, this strategy wouldn't work for Marsh.
The three skeleton warriors standing beside him charged toward the Ferin Orcs.
With a series of clashes, the first few Ferin Orcs were seriously wounded.
The moment the skeleton warriors struck, the Ferin Orcs collapsed, but they didn't die outright.
There was still a faint pulse of life in them.
"Huh? Why didn't they drop immediately?"
"These attributes..."
Marsh was a little surprised that the skeleton warriors didn't finish off the Ferin Orcs instantly.
The Ferin Orcs had decent physical attributes, but their attacks hardly did much damage to the skeleton warriors.
This showed that they were a monster type with strong physiques but weak offensive power.
Marsh quickly made a judgment.
If one strike wasn't enough, then two should do the trick.
With another slash, a Ferin Orc fell, its screams echoing in the distance.
Marsh's points immediately updated, from 3605 to 3655 points.
Although the fifth round of the exam couldn't be directly seen in the control room, the changes in points were visible.
"Marsh has begun."
"He killed the first one quickly."
Then, the points jumped again, shooting from 3655 to 4105.
The sudden increase of points stunned the examiners.
They exchanged glances, unsure of what had happened.
How had his score increased so drastically so fast?
The answer lay in Marsh's actions.
The skeleton warriors continued to fight, with Marsh following up with a Corpse Explosion.
With a deafening blast, the remaining Ferin Orcs were wiped out.
The ten Ferin Orcs granted Marsh 500 points, bringing his total score to 4105.
However, Marsh didn't act immediately again. Instead, he waited for the next group of Ferin Orcs to arrive.
Since they were coming to him, why bother going to find them?
There were still nine corpses scattered across the battlefield. Once the new orcs arrived, he could use Corpse Explosion once more.
But then, Marsh was taken aback.
The corpses had vanished.
They seemed to have sunk into the pitch-black earth and disappeared completely.
The bodies hadn't even remained for ten seconds before they were gone.
"So, that's how it works."
"It seems like I'll need to adjust my strategy."
As the next wave of Ferin Orcs came charging from all directions, Marsh released several more skeleton warriors.
A total of nine skeletons joined the fray, one assigned to each group of Orcs.
The skeletons charged headfirst, drawing the monsters toward them.
It was a simple strategy: lead the mobs and herd them together.
Two minutes later, the mob-pulling was complete.
Nearly a hundred Ferin Orcs had gathered.
Marsh's skeleton warriors launched their assault simultaneously, quickly taking down one of the Ferin Orcs.
The roars of the dying Orcs filled the air.
Marsh used Corpse Explosion seven or eight times in rapid succession.
The earth trembled under the force of the explosions.
Within seconds, all the Ferin Orcs were slaughtered.
Marsh's score soared to 8605 points.
The control room at the trial tower buzzed once again.
"What the hell did Marsh do?"
"Why did his points shoot up like that all of a sudden?"
"We can't even see what's happening in the battle space."
"However, his score jumped from 3605 to 8605—a 5000-point increase. This must mean that the first batch of 100 monsters was wiped out. How, though, we don't know."
The examiners exchanged uncertain looks.
They couldn't figure out how his points had risen so quickly.
After all, Marsh was just a level 16 player. No matter how powerful his skills, it seemed impossible for him to be that strong.
Killing 100 monsters all at once? That was beyond belief.
When compared to elemental mages like Jeny, who were good at group attacks, her points were rising slowly, by 50 to 100 points per kill.
But Marsh? His score increased by 5000 points in just a few minutes.
How could anyone believe that?
Ning Xuanfeng, however, remained calmer than the others. Despite that, even he couldn't suppress the twitching of his eyelids.
Even with his vast knowledge, he found it hard to imagine how Marsh had done it.
"What exactly did this kid do?"
"What kind of profession is a Necromancer, really?"
"What is his limit?"
One question after another echoed in Ning Xuanfeng's mind.
At that moment, he, too, found himself eager to know what had really happened inside the battle space.
Unfortunately, with his lack of authority, he could only analyze things from the point change.
In the battle space, the bodies vanished into the earth after just 10 seconds.
Marsh, however, calmly waited for the second wave of monsters to appear.
"This time, it shouldn't be like the fourth round of the test. I don't need to wait a minute."
As soon as he thought this, an overwhelming sense of danger swept over him.
The sky above turned red, and dozens of massive fireballs, each nearly a meter in diameter, descended like meteorites.
