Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Improving the Defense System

"The wood should be enough; let's begin," Fang Jie observed his surroundings and with a simple gesture, a large amount of wood resources vanished. In their place, a vast wooden wall appeared around the perimeter of his territory.

The wall was over three meters high and half a meter thick, all made of nailed wooden boards.

This was the wall that came with the upgrade to a level 3 village of his territory. Now, having finally gathered enough resources, he had built it. It directly encircled the outermost part of the level 3 territory.

There were only four exits in four directions, over which gates had been constructed.

Within the village, aside from a few Skull Soldiers patrolling, the rest were busy Skeleton Labor.

Any produced Skull Soldiers, after undergoing Fission, would leave for the outside. If they all remained within the territory, there literally wouldn't be enough space to accommodate so many skeletal frames.

Origin Village: Level 4

Territory Talent: Undead Splitting Level 1 (Unique)

Functional Buildings: Skeleton Conversion Field Level 3 × 10, Material Warehouse × 5, Grave (Black Iron) Level 1, Wooden Wall

Troops: Skeleton Labor Level 3 - 50,000; Skull Soldiers Level 3 - 686,548; Iron Armor Zombie Level 1 - 78

Spirit Points: 987,968

Gold Coins: 680

After being busy, Origin Village successfully upgraded to level 4, but reaching level 4 did not add anything special. Skull Soldiers weren't a focus of production lately, so their numbers hadn't increased much.

Even when others wanted to purchase them, Fang Jie did not allow it.

Instead, Fang Jie directly increased the Skeleton Labor to fifty thousand, and now, busy Skeleton Labor could be seen everywhere.

Spirit points could increase so much because the materials the Skull Soldiers brought back were mostly live. Bringing them half-dead for conversion also yielded more spirit points.

That's why there were such an abundance of spirit points.

When Fang Jie wasn't practicing the Black Lotus Meditation Technique, he would check the discussion forums.

After two full days, the discussions in the forum finally got serious. All those frivolous comments were almost gone because everyone had a tough time these last few days.

Many who were previously active had disappeared without a trace, with no clue whether they were dead or what.

If they had just given up and moved to other cities, they could still use the forum, except for the trade section, and their situations would still be visible.

There were also people constantly asking for help, and some had even joined under others.

"I never thought that other races could also seize a Lord's Cottage."

Fang Jie watched these developments with some sighs. Though it was troublesome and required some special rituals, other races could clearly take over a Lord's Cottage and convert it for their own use.

Or some lords voluntarily submitted to others and could convert their camps to those of others.

However, doing so did not allow one to extract unique talents, and even the quality of talents obtained upon upgrading to village level later would degrade. Nonetheless, it was still a viable way to survive.

"This world is becoming more and more dangerous," even Fang Jie felt unsafe.

Ignoring again others' requests to purchase Skull Soldiers, Fang Jie stepped outside and checked the Yin Gathering Stone he had created earlier. "Not bad, it's a success; now let's see how the Black Stone Statue is doing."

Fang Jie created a Black Stone Statue on a patch of open land, which looked like a two-meter-high pillar, inherently a special statue with four Skulls on top, each facing different directions.

The whole sight was extremely mysterious.

"Attack and show me," instructed Fang Jie, pointing ahead.

In an instant, one Skull's eyes lit up, and then a gray light shot out rapidly, hitting the spot Fang Jie was pointing at and leaving a small pit on the ground.

"The direct attack power isn't very strong, but this Death Energy Erosion ability is really something."

Fang Jie frowned slightly, questioning the effectiveness of what he had spent so much time creating. But it shouldn't be, and gradually, through testing, he began to understand the true use of this artifact.

"I knew it, how could it be useless; it just needs quantity."

Fang Jie discovered that the most significant function of the Black Stone Statue was its unobstructed range of attack. As long as it was within his own territory, it could reach any corner within his attack range.

Neither military troops nor buildings could block these attacks.

The attacks completely ignored his own territory's troops and buildings, passing straight through without causing any damage. The range was also vast. If a statue was placed in the middle of the territory, the attack could cover almost half of it.

Thus, while a single attack was not very strong, a concentrated fire was a different story.

Behind the city wall, Fang Jie created another row of statues, forming a dense second wall.

That way, if someone attacked his territory, these statues would let the assailant know what it felt like to be able to hit others without them being able to hit back.

Even Fang Jie tested it; after the real power of these things concentrated, even his Iron Armor Zombies might not be able to withstand it.

On his command, this attack could also target the soldiers and buildings of his own territory, all based on the will of him, the lord.

Looking at the Iron Armor Zombie that was virtually crippled and wondering how long it would take to recover, Fang Jie felt very satisfied with these devices.

"Need to make more Yin Gathering Stones. If there are enough of these, even an army made of black iron will have nowhere to be buried," Fang Jie was very pleased with these devices.

However, continued construction would take time; next, he should first upgrade his territory to a level 5 village.

"Is Lord Fang Jie there? I need more Skull Soldiers, I can trade at the normal price," suddenly, Qin Lan's communication rang out, seemingly in a rush.

"What's the situation, why are you so hurried?"

"There's a group of Beastmen thinking of striking at my territory, and if I can't get more Skull Soldiers, I might not be able to hold them off."

Beastmen? They were all from one area, and although he didn't know how extensive the area was, it wasn't very far. If these Beastmen were a threat to Qin Lan, they could threaten him as well.

Others hadn't mentioned any information about large-scale Beastman clans, so Fang Jie hadn't paid attention.

It seemed he should support Qin Lan, at least to give the Beastmen some trouble. Using Qin Lan's resources to weaken the Beastmen's strength, while increasing his own, seemed like a smart deal.
