Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The Ever-Increasing Skull Soldiers
"The next moment is the time to witness a miracle," Fang Jie's eyes widened as he ordered the two Skull Soldiers that had just emerged to step forward. Even Fang Jie couldn't help but start rubbing his hands together nervously at this moment.
No matter, there was no point in overthinking things. Fang Jie used Undead Splitting on the two Skull Soldiers, one after the other.
Before Fang Jie's very eyes, a white glow began to emanate from the Skull Soldiers, and then bit by bit, they split and reassembled, ultimately turning into four. In other words, after the fission through the territory's building, they could fission again.
Fang Jie clenched his fists, "Yes, just as I thought, we've hit the jackpot this time."
It had been a gamble, but he had won. Originally, one set of materials could become two soldiers, but now it could turn into four. If the Talent Level increased later on, it would be even higher.
Fang Jie's eyes shone, and the fatigue on his body seemed to vanish all at once.
"Keep going, keep splitting," Fang Jie began ordering the processing of the corpses in the camp. The entire camp was now filled with corpses. However, Fang Jie decided to use them all to create Skull Soldiers, giving up on making more Skeleton Labors.
The camp was bustling with activity, with Skeleton Labors lying all over the ground. Later on, Fang Jie even started extracting strength from the Skull Soldiers because there were not enough Skeleton Labors, yet he still needed them to work.
In terms of labor, the Skull Soldiers were no match for these Skeleton Labors.
It had to be said, the stronger Skull Soldiers contained more strength than the Skeleton Labors.
Fang Jie required absorption five times to make a Skull Soldier collapse to the ground. If it was only four times, the impact on the Skull Soldiers wasn't that significant.
"If I had known this earlier, I would have used Skull Soldiers instead," Fang Jie muttered to himself.
"No, this production speed is too slow, it will take forever at this rate. Build another Skeleton Conversion Field for me right over there," Fang Jie pointed to an open space in the distance.
A group of Skeleton Labors ran over and began to build on the spot.
Fang Jie eventually noticed some changes after upgrading to a village.
Originally, buildings would be completed instantly, but now it required the gradual construction by Skeleton Labors. Although it was still fast, it couldn't compare to before.
It seemed there were some unknown benefits to not upgrading to a village.
But the construction was quick, and before long, it was successfully built. Fang Jie didn't hesitate to upgrade it to level 3 in one breath. Then, the two Transformation Fields started operating simultaneously, and the conversion speed became incredibly fast.
Busy until the late night, Fang Jie finally finished processing all the corpses.
The only ones left unprocessed were the twelve Goblin Lord bodies. Because they were Black Iron Level corpses, using them to create Skull Soldiers was a bit too wasteful.
After all the hustle, Fang Jie fell into a deep sleep, simply too exhausted.
He slept until noon before finally waking up, "Go, get me something to eat and some water."
After busying all night without eating, Fang Jie finally felt hungry. Just as he began checking on the condition of the territory, he realized he had forgotten something.
"Do you wish to accept the reward as the first to complete an upgrade to the village within the region?"
"Oh no, I was so busy last night that I didn't hear it." Fang Jie slightly annoyed, then hurriedly chose to accept. Fortunately, there was no time limit for this thing; otherwise, after so long, it probably would have been gone.
"Reward received: Profession Transfer Scroll, Map: Underground Tomb."
Profession Transfer Scroll: Please use at the site of the Profession Tower. After passing the test, you can obtain your own profession and embark on the profession path. Note: The test involves certain dangers, please prepare adequately.
"What is this Profession Tower thing? Could it be a special building in this world? It seems I haven't seen one. Well, I'm not prepared for it now anyway, I'll deal with it when I find it."
Fang Jie shook his head, resigned. It seemed, looking at it now, he probably couldn't use any of his soldiers for the job change.
As for the map, it was a location five kilometers away from him, where there was a special Underground Tomb.
Attacking this tomb would definitely yield great benefits. He didn't know how he got the map, but Fang Jie didn't care. With his current military strength, taking down an Underground Tomb shouldn't be a problem.
Origin Village: Level 1
Territory Talent: Undead Splitting Level 1 (Unique)
Functional Buildings: Skeleton Conversion Field Level 3×2, Material Warehouse
Military Force: Skeleton Labor: Level 3 – 1233, Skull Soldier: Level 3 – 23879
Spirit Points: 3099
Gold Coins: 18
He had increased his military force even more after a night of fierce combat. Before the test, there were less than two thousand Skull Soldiers, but after the test, thanks to corpse conversion, he had over twenty thousand.
However, the sight of bones and debris on the ground made Fang Jie wince.
If it weren't for the previous battle being too brutal, causing so many soldiers to be wasted, he would not only have twenty thousand Skull Soldiers but potentially double that number.
The number of Goblins that had come yesterday was quite exaggerated, but now it was too late for regrets.
"It doesn't matter; we'll first go and take it down," Fang Jie thought, leading his twenty thousand Skull Soldiers out, leaving over three thousand to guard home. Within the protected time of the territory, there would be no danger to the land.
After the test, the protection circle was restored, as the protection time had not yet expired.
The twenty thousand Skull Soldiers marched mightily forward, creating an imposing presence. All creatures that saw them fled immediately, with none daring to come close enough to observe.
Perhaps because of yesterday's extermination of the Goblins, as they traveled, not a single Goblin was to be seen. Instead, there seemed to be more other animals.
Taking out the map, Fang Jie looked at the arrow on it.
The map was fully automated, with an arrow that moved constantly, always indicating the direction.
"This is the place, thankfully we have a map; otherwise, it would have been impossible to find."
Fang Jie looked at a ruin-like broken temple ahead, not expecting the Underground Tomb to be located here. He waved his hand, and a few Skeleton Labors accompanying the troops came forward and started digging, with Skull Soldiers assisting by their side.
"If I had known it was like this, I should have brought more Skeleton Labors," Fang Jie thought as he watched the clumsy efforts of the Skull Soldiers, feeling a slight miscalculation. After not long, the entrance to the Underground Tomb was excavated, revealing steps over three meters wide.
Fang Jie gestured, and a large number of Skull Soldiers began to enter. With such a narrow entrance, it would take a while for so many Skull Soldiers to get through. After a thousand or so Skull Soldiers had entered, Fang Jie also carefully made his way down.
