Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Disaster Level Revenge
"Fortunately, it wasn't the worst-case scenario; at least the Lord's Cottage is safe. Even if we failed, it could still become a normal village," Fang Jie suddenly felt relieved.
"Go, defend the Skeleton Conversion Field and the Material Warehouse."
Since not much was needed on his side, the place with the most troops stored was the Skeleton Conversion Field. As for the Material Warehouse, it just needed to be protected from destruction.
In the distance, some flickering lights emerged, which Fang Jie could not see clearly from afar. However, as the lights increased, he knew the Goblins were coming. Before long, footsteps sounded, growing louder and more chaotic.
Then, countless Goblins ran over, some holding torches, most wielding weapons.
"The first wave is just small fries, nothing much. Quickly convert more troops."
With a Level 3 Skeleton Conversion Field, the conversion was fast. As the Goblins entered, they encountered numerous obstacles. Being short, most chose to go around.
Some stepped on their comrades to jump over; naturally, those being stepped on were not pleased.
Thus, there was even some discord among the Goblins.
The Goblins from all directions were diverted, and the Skull Soldiers positioned there began their attack. Level 3 Skull Soldiers cutting through these ordinary Goblins was a breeze.
With each swing of a blade, Goblins were slain on the spot. As soon as an area's Goblins were killed, the Skeleton Laborers immediately dragged the corpses back to the Skeleton Conversion Field.
New troops stealthily approached the Lord's Cottage, and Fang Jie remotely performed a Fission on them, rapidly increasing their numbers. The cost was the Skeleton Laborers lying within the cottage.
It was now nighttime, the Skeleton Laborers' recovery rate increased; they could get up about ten minutes after lying down.
Later, as more corpses arrived, Fang Jie had to order some to be thrown behind the Lord Mansion.
After all, those Level 3 Skeleton Laborers were also considered a Combat Power. At this point, there was no need to worry about waste. The noise outside grew chaotic, more intense.
"It won't do, it's getting brighter, extinguish those torches."
Fang Jie felt he could gradually see more clearly inside the camp; thus, the Goblins certainly could as well. Goblins had better night vision than humans, but not compared to Skeletons.
Skeleton Laborers had one more task; while collecting corpses, they rapidly extinguished some torches.
Soon, the light in the entire camp dimmed. Fang Jie could not clearly see what was happening inside, but he could see the data. His Skull Soldiers' damage began to decrease, and their numbers steadily increased.
"How many are there actually?" The battle continued, having lasted for over an hour from the start, but the horde of Goblins didn't seem to diminish, still charging from all sides.
Further, Fang Jie glimpsed something different amid the shadows.
Some figures larger than the other Goblins, clearly not Skeletons.
Giant Goblin Level 1: Level (Apprentice)
Goblin Knight Level 3: Level (Apprentice)
The Giant Goblins were about 1.8 meters tall, almost as tall as the Skull Soldiers, but stronger. While Level 3 Skull Soldiers were stronger than their opponents individually, it wasn't by much.
The Goblin Knights were more troublesome; they were stronger than his Skull Soldiers and, keyly faster. They rode animals resembling deer, moving swiftly across the battlefield.
The front line was almost unable to hold because of these two creatures.
"I never imagined the goblins would have such a troop. I thought they only had numbers. No, this can't go on. You guys go and set some traps for them."
Inside the Lord's Cottage, Fang Jie wasn't threatened by the outside.
He actually wished for the goblins to attack the cottage, as it wouldn't cause any harm and could divert some of their firepower.
Under Fang Jie's command, some Skeleton Labor pretended to be dead and lay on the ground. But in the chaotic battlefield, how could the goblins distinguish whether the bones on the ground were truly dead or feigning death?
Even if their bones were crushed, the Skeleton Labor didn't move an inch.
Only when a Goblin Knight passed by, the Skeleton Labor would suddenly reach out and hug their mounts. Then, wielding their tools as weapons, they would strike down at the deer-like mounts, piercing their bellies if successful.
Although the mounts were fast, they weren't very strong.
After the mount died, the strength of the Goblin Knight decreased significantly, even less than that of the larger goblins.
"This battle, there must be tens of thousands of goblins," said Fang Jie as he looked towards the Skeleton Conversion Field. The transformation process was still going on methodically there.
Skeleton soldiers kept coming out, even directly joining the melee because it was too crowded outside.
The goblins seemed to have noticed the problem here as well and were attacking the Skeleton Conversion Field with all their might. This area had become the center of the battlefield and suffered heavy casualties.
Frequently, skeletons were shattered, and goblins turned into corpses, then dragged back.
Some lucky skeleton soldiers were able to retreat and slowly recover after being injured. But for the unlucky ones, the overly crowded environment rendered retreat impossible, only to have their heads crushed by goblins, dying on the spot.
These goblins had become recklessly fearless for some reason.
"What's that? Why is it so big?"
Suddenly, Fang Jie saw several tall creatures appear behind the goblin army. The huge muscles looked like a small mountain, and from a distance, they exerted immense pressure on Fang Jie.
Goblin Lord Level 5: Level (Black Iron)
The appearance of the powerful existence of Black Iron level weighed heavily on Fang Jie's heart.
"Twelve, a full twelve. I wonder if we can still hold them off."
In previous battles, his skeleton soldiers had not only not decreased but had increased in number to more than two thousand due to a large supply of corpses.
Only because transformation took time, many more corpses piled up in the camp.
"If I had known this, I should have built more Skeleton Conversion Fields." Fang Jie regretted it. He had always thought it wouldn't be needed, as one was already transforming very fast.
If he could have built two or three, the transformation speed would have been sufficient to turn all the corpses on the ground into skeleton soldiers.
The Goblin Lord stepped forward, and with a gentle wave of his arm, all the goblins and skeleton soldiers blocking the way were blown away. The immense strength was simply not something the skeleton soldiers could contend with.
While still in midair, Fang Jie saw the skeleton soldiers fall apart. One skeleton soldier's head remained intact but rolled on the ground without being able to do anything; the Goblin Lord crushed it with one foot, instantly shattering it.
