Global Evolution: I Became A Zombie!

Chapter 172: New Suit

A couple of days passed. Most undead were bored out of their wits with nothing to do. It was the same with the newly captured aliens. However, Blaze, Alaric, and Voss were having the time of their lives.

How could they not?

Voss almost wanted to rip into the aliens, itching to learn more about their anatomy. If not for Blaze restraining him, his nails would have already scraped Lo Da.

It wasn't like Blaze didn't want to do that either. He too wanted to consume them, since they would be the easiest way to learn everything the alien had in their brains.

But he couldn't ignore Anur's advice.

The aliens had to stay alive… for now.

As for the fun they were having, it was related to the new technology they had. Although they lacked proper tools to learn more about them, the aliens were more than happy to answer every question they had.

Sadly, the aliens didn't have any weapons Blaze could play around with. Which was exactly why the collective didn't allow the observers to carry any weapons other than their bodysuits.

They feel like bodysuits, but they are much more complex.

Since the lieutenant didn't want to leave the ship, Lo Da took his suit and brought it for Blaze to try on.

As for the lieutenant, the ship maintained a perfect atmosphere for the aliens to live in. They only needed the suit for exploration.

The suit was as thin as paper, yet it was durable beyond imagination. Nothing the onyx claws nor the Necrophage could put a scratch on it.

"What is this material made of?" Blaze asked, lifting the light armor. "It's practically weightless!?"

"It's made of an artificially engineered carbon nanolattice," Mjik replied, bobbing his triangular head. "You can think of it as… paper diamond."

"I see… I don't get it, but I like it," he said. "No wonder my zombies weren't able to put a scratch on you."

Excited to see him like that, the aliens quickly began telling him more about the armor, which they simply called Weave.

Like Mjik said, it was made of carbon nanolattice, which wasn't a foreign concept to humans. The creation of such a substance had been theorized decades ago, but creating it was, much like the FTL technology, deemed impossible.

In simple terms, one could say that the carbon nanolattice was made of a spider web, only instead of spider silk, diamonds were used to make it. This structure made it light as paper and much stronger than diamond.

Hence, Mjik called it the paper diamond.

"No wonder the collective feels at ease despite playing with the virus," Blaze mumbled, trying on the bodysuit. "With technology like this, they could make my clones have a baby, and I wouldn't be surprised."

Next, Lo Da and Mjik helped him wear the suit. That's when they ran into trouble. It was quite loose since it wasn't tailored for him, and they didn't have the equipment to alter it.

Thankfully, it was something that Blaze could easily take care of.

Neha was sent to get some humans, since they seemed to trust her more. Not like their trust mattered to him.

She knew exactly what Blaze was planning to do with them, but she convinced herself to bring them to their doom, as it was a necessary sacrifice for the planet's survival.

As soon as the humans got there, Blaze's tendrils shot towards them, absorbing their body mass into his. The two humans were reduced to skinsuits by the time Blaze fitted the armor.

Without wasting a second, Blaze raised countless walls and ran through them with ease. The walls stood no chance against the bodysuit.

But that wasn't all.

It could tolerate exceptionally high amounts of space radiation. On top of that, the wearer wouldn't even sweat at temperatures of up to 5000°C. Almost the temperature of the photosphere!

"It is indestructible," Blaze mumbled to himself, before frowning. "Since they have this, one can be certain they also have ways to destroy it."

"That's true," Mjik agreed. "The higher-ups have even better armor, and even those can be destroyed."

Mjik thought Blaze would be happy upon learning there were better materials, but his mood fell. Lo Da glared at Mjik for his loud mouth, but it wasn't his fault.

Blaze knew the fight against the collective would be difficult, but still, he had the confidence that they'd deal some damage to them.

However, after getting acquainted with their technology, that confidence was shattered.

Even an entry-level suit provided complete immunity from the virus, and many other things. He could count the number of ways he would harm them. Even then, he wasn't too sure.

First was his Mind Plague. Since it worked on Lo Da and others, it should work on the rest as well.

"I don't think they'd let me get close, let alone infect them," Blaze said, scratching his chin.

The other way was Marrow. She could naturally drain their life without needing to break through their suits.

Then again, the collective obviously knew that and would try to take her out first. Not to mention, the range of her abilities was somewhat small.

While she wouldn't have to get into their faces like Blaze, she'd still have to expose herself in front of them.

This made it difficult for her to face them head-on.

As for the blightspore, Blaze quickly eliminated that possibility. Skin contact was a must for someone to be converted, and the suits would negate that.

"Only two names appear from the top of my head," Blaze mumbled. "The cult and Anur. I suppose we can only wait and see what she has planned. Until then, let's explore more technologies!"

"Yay!"

The aliens let out a weak cheer, but immediately started yelling at the top of their lungs when Lo Da glared at them.

However, something else was going on among the undead.

Marrow's mouth twitched as soon as she heard that name. Ever since returning with the ship, all Blaze talked about was Anur. It was like the woman had him wrapped around his fingers in one meeting.

Noticing her reaction, Fester shook his head and patted her calf, pitying her.
