Global Evolution: I Became A Zombie!

Chapter 169: The Silence Protocol (2)

A few minutes ago…

A smirk formed on Blaze's lips as the scout ship struck the observer ship. While he was pleased with the success, he couldn't help but wonder about his helper's identity.

Everything she told him turned out to be true. The location of the scout ship, the number of scouts, and even the pinpoint location of the stealth ship.

The ship actually was there.

Before the ships collided, he couldn't see anything in the way of the scout ship. It was a clear sky, but then there was an explosion. With a flicker, a massive stealth ship appeared before his eyes.

He was surprised, even though he expected it to be grandiose. It was unlike anything humanity had ever constructed.

The ship hovered in place without any visible propulsion. Not only that, it seemed to have been made entirely of a strange metallic material.

Then there was the cloaking technology.

At first, when he was told about the spaceship, he thought it would be too high in the atmosphere for the humans to notice. Hence, no one had found it. But it was far from the case.

The ship had always been in a lower orbit, observing the points of interest closely.

More importantly, he was itching to get on it.

If they have such ships, what else do they have? What kind of weapons? Will they have superior AI?

[Lower your expectations. It's a low-end model, one that's been outdated centuries ago.]

There are… better ships out there?

[Why do you think we're planning our escape instead of fighting them if it was so easy to take them down?]

Blaze nodded. It made complete sense for the Collective not to send their best ships to a washed-up planet like theirs.

[Forget about it. I'll give you the code, so send your flying monkey to open the port side bay.]

Blaze turned to Marrow and nodded. The angel of death shot into the sky, hiding her presence behind hundreds of birds they had captured and tamed throughout the week.

The ship's radar could still catch her, and that's why the birds were bombarding the ship from all directions. It was yet another tactic the mysterious helper came up with.

"I'm in position," Marrow's voice echoed in Blaze's head.

She's there.

[Proceed to press the buttons I tell you to.]

The system told him about strange symbols, which Blaze relayed to Marrow. She did it, and the bat was opened for boarding.

As soon as she did, Blaze, Raven, and Chimera jumped on the backs of massive birds and flew straight into the ship.

The bay was as large as Blaze's entire lair and housed half a dozen scout ships within. It also had another door, which led straight into the spaceship. However, it could only be opened from the inside.

"They aren't here yet," Marrow reported the situation to Blaze. "The report of their numbers seems to be true."

"Less than twenty aliens on such a large ship. Make it make sense," Blaze said, opening the corpse domain. "Cover me."

While he worked his magic, the birds spread their wings, hiding the group of undead behind. It wouldn't be useful against the Collective's weapons, but it would buy Blaze some time.

Just then, the bay opened from the inside, and two strangely proportioned aliens stepped out. One looked like a hybrid between a beetle and a human, and the other seemed to be covered in rocks.

The moment they saw the huge birds in front, they froze as if confused by such a sight. That moment of hesitation was what Raven and Chimera were waiting for.

The two shot towards the aliens. Raven speared the rock-skin alien into the wall, while Chimera slammed the insectoid into the floor. The two showed great restraint by not harming them in any way, as Blaze had told them not to.

"Reh! Reh!"

Chimera warned the aliens not to move, prompting Raven to turn towards him as if asking how the aliens would understand them.

Before the two could carry on with their conversation, the aliens went stiff. Over two dozen zombies just ran past them into the spaceship. They peeked under the birds and saw even more zombies coming from behind the birds.

"Good job, you two," Blaze said, walking between the rows of zombies. "I didn't think they'd be so weak physically. Imagine being overpowered by your playthings. Doesn't feel so good, does it?"

[Skip your monologue, and deal with them.]

"With pleasure."

Meanwhile, inside the ship was in chaos.

The mere appearance of the virus aboard the ship caused chaos. However, they weren't scared of the zombies, only the virus they had within them.

They rushed into the armory and came out wearing protective armor before charging straight at the zombies.

A banging sound was heard as a mechanical arm slammed a zombie's head into the metal floor, crushing it. It was Lo Da clad in the armor they had used to fight Extremophile on the surface.

The suit's primary function was to repel the virus and radiation, but it was effective against most zombies.

Another zombie lunged at him, only for Lo Da to grab its legs and bash it into a pulp. Its rotten blood smeared across his visor, fueling his rage even more.

"Which imbecile let them into the ship?" he yelled, killing another walker.

"Iola and Mjik, sir!"

"Those two again? Being demoted wasn't enough for them. I'll have their heads for this!"

While he wished to kill those two, he would have to make do with killing the zombies for now.

He looked around and noticed how weak these zombies were. Moreover, the undead weren't even attacking them. They were merely acting as they were.

This strange behavior, coupled with their precise strike on the ship, wasn't normal.

He had assumed the undead had found them by accident, but after seeing them, it felt more like someone was guiding them. Someone who knew all about their ship.

"But who?"
