Chapter 880: Fourth Strongest
In the meantime, the sky above the New Haven Shelter in Sector 13 was getting darker as the red moon was getting blocked by the clouds.
A storm might be coming, and it was not a good thing for them.
Still, there was no way for them to control the weather and they could only pray that there wouldn't be any storm coming at them.
"Do not save the Spirit Stones. Ensure that the Barrier holds all the time." Natalie instructed.
The barrier surrounding their shelter wasn't simple. It was filled with holy energy…
Unlike Shane's fortress, there were no automated turrets or Mech Frames here. No Spirit Pulse Obelisks or Flame Towers.
But they had something else.
Faith.
And firepower.
Hundreds of survivors had gathered behind the barricades, clutching rifles, loading ballista bolts, and manning the reinforced cannon platforms.
The shelter's defense had a perimeter that was lined with sandbags and various steel plating, before their outer wall. These walls were also filled with engravings made by the Priests of New Haven. To increase its defense.
Natalie Cross stood at the command platform. Her black coat fluttered in the wind as she surveyed the battlefield.
"Status?" she asked the group behind her.
A soldier immediately replied. "Crawlers coming from the east. Lurkers spotted near the water tanks. Jumpers have already passed the ruined town to the south. We've got movement on all fronts."
Natalie nodded... "Deploy the Bishop squads. Tell them to reinforce the east wall. And get Raizen."
The soldier hesitated. "Are you sure? He's still…"
"Get. Raizen."
The soldier nodded and ran.
Moments later, a small figure emerged from the inner sanctum. He looked tired, but he looked determined.
Raizen, the Archbishop of New Haven, was only twelve years old. His cloak dragged slightly behind him, and his face was mostly hidden beneath the hood.
He wouldn't normally show his face unless Natalie was nearby…
Nonetheless, despite looking so fragile, he one of the clan's trump cards.
He walked up to Natalie without speaking.
Natalie then knelt slightly to meet his gaze.
"Ready?" she asked.
Raizen nodded once.
Then he raised his hand.
A golden light burst from his palm, and the air filled with the sound of chanting.
Dozens of Priests and Bishops across the compound felt the surge of holy energy. Their eyes glowed faintly, and their robes shimmered with radiant light…
[ Blessing Activated: Divine Shield ]
[ Blessing Activated: Spirit Surge ]
This was the buff that the others received. It didn't end there…
"Holy Summon… Knight Tier." Raizen muttered.
He was only an Archbishop after all.
He could only bless someone to produce Priests, Exorcists, and Bishops.
However, he couldn't bless someone to become a Holy Knight. However, he was still capable of summoning Holy Knights.
Soon, six Holy Knights materialized near the front gate…
They were unlike any Knights that most Survivors had ever seen.
Their armor was glowing with celestial light, and their swords were already drawn.
As soon as they appeared, there was no need for instructions.
They didn't speak. They simply charged forward, cutting down Crawlers who dared to get closer to breach the shelter.
The Priests behind them followed, casting Purifying Flame and Sanctified Bolts from their staffs…
Lurker Zombies tried to leap from the shadows, but were intercepted mid-air by Bishop squads wielding enchanted halberds.
"Push forward!" one of the Bishops shouted. "Don't let them breach the second line!"
Cannons fired from the western wall, blasting apart a cluster of Jumpers that had begun scaling the rooftops.
Machine guns rattled from the towers, mowing down the advancing horde.
Ballista bolts, each enchanted with holy energy, pierced through the thicker Zombies with explosive force.
Natalie turned to Raizen again.
"Can you summon more?"
Raizen shook his head. "Not yet. Spirit cost is not a problem. It's my cooldown. I need three minutes."
Natalie nodded. "Then we hold for three minutes."
She activated her comms. "New Haven Clan… Reinforce the north barricade. I want two squads on the ramparts and one on the inner courtyard. If they breach the walls, we lose everything."
A voice crackled through the channel. "Copy that, Commander. Moving now."
The New Haven Clan wasn't just strong… They were disciplined like true soldiers.
Well, they were ranked fourth in the Clan Leaderboard among the hundreds of clans existing…
They had survived many Zombie Waves and eliminated at least 10 Zombie Lords ever since they had started to appear.
Their soldiers were very well trained, and with the existence of the Archbishop who could even heal those with missing limbs, their morale was unshaken.
They knew that as long as they were breathing, they had another chance.
Unfortunately, the clouds above New Haven Shelter finally broke.
Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the blood-red moon for a brief moment before thunder roared again!
"Shit… Right now?!" Natalie cursed as the thunderstorm wasn't in their favor.
The rain that followed was heavy, relentless, and cold. The wind howled through the barricades, rattling steel plating and sending loose debris skittering outside the shelter…
The storm had arrived.
Natalie stood at the command platform, her coat was soaked and clinging to her shoulders, but she didn't move.
Her eyes remained fixed on the battlefield, watching as the Priests and Bishops continued their coordinated defense with the soldiers.
The barrier still shimmered with golden light, repelling the rain and absorbing stray energy from the lightning strikes above…
They hadn't been breached.
Not yet.
But Natalie's grip on the railing tightened.
"Raizen," she said quietly.
The boy was seated beside her, his hood pulled low while his hands clasped together for a prayer. He didn't respond, but the light around him pulsed faintly.
The young man was preparing for a powerful attack…
Natalie turned to her second-in-command. "Status?"
"Lines are holding," the soldier replied. "No breaches. But visibility is dropping. The rain's interfering with our spotters, and the ballista crews are struggling to reload in this wind."
Natalie nodded. "Keep the cannons hot. Rotate the Priests. Don't let them burn out."
She paused.
Then she added, "Prepare the next trump card. Just in case."
The soldier hesitated. "You mean…"
"Yes. If another Lord comes, we'll need it."
As if summoned by her words, a lightning bolt struck the ramparts of the northern wall!
