Chapter 875: Earth-Type
The Southern Gate was quiet after the last attack of the Zombie Lords and the swarm of Corrupted, Bloodmark, and Infested-type Zombies.
They were tired…
Even if they had work to do in order to repair the walls or remove the debris all over the place, they weren't talking…
The air was filled with the stench of blood and oil…
The ground was still stained from the earlier battle, and the broken remains of Warden Units were piled near the repair zone.
At this time, sparks flew everywhere as engineers worked to salvage what they could.
The Distillation Tower was behind another layer of wall, and it was still safe…
For their flamethrowers and other vehicles, they were still processing some oil for later use.
This facility was critical. If it fell, the entire shelter's fuel supply would be compromised. Although they had barrels and barrels in store, they couldn't afford to have them destroyed, and they must be protected at all times.
They couldn't let anything happen to it.
Shane dropped near the gate, and he landed with his Bio-Armor absorbing most of the impact.
Indeed, he just used his Flight Skill to arrive here.
The moment his boots touched the ground, several Warden Units turned to acknowledge his presence. After that, they returned to scanning the perimeter.
Kain, the Werewolf, stood near the barricade.
His fur was matted with dried blood, but his posture was still steady.
To be honest, he felt that the Red Night favored his talent...
However, since the Zombies had a similar boost, he couldn't really appreciate the improvement he had attained…
At this time, he was giving orders to a group of Survivors, twelve of them, all armed with rifles and grenade launchers. They were positioned behind cover, and they were the ones tasked to cover for him when he was in the front line fight together with the Super Soldiers and Warden Units.
Soon, Kain saw Shane, and heaved a sigh of relief.
"About time," he muttered while stepping forward. "I was starting to think you'd check on other gates instead of us."
Shane walked up to him and scanned the area as he replied. "This gate's too important to leave to chance. I'm worried that we'll be facing not just four but six Zombie Lords later on…"
"I hope not… That would be too much. I'm sure other shelters would've collapsed already with four Zombie Lords at once." Kain muttered.
Shane nodded as it was true.
Hunting Zombie Lords requires at least a group of Level 50 Survivors working together.
After all, only after reaching that level would you gain a huge improvement in your stat. Aside from that, the Ascension Quest would also be given at that level, and once completed, a Survivor would gain enormous changes in physique, survivor's skills, and stats…
Kain sighed as he looked at his team. "We've got twelve Super Soldiers here, forty Warden Units still functional. The rest are in pieces. Eight Mk.V Turrets are still online, and the Flame Towers are holding. But if another Lord shows up…"
"We'll handle it…" Shane said confidently.
At this point, he knew he could handle two at the same time, as long as they were focused on him instead of ignoring him…
He looked toward the Spirit Pulse Obelisk. It stood near the center of the defense line, its surface glowing faintly with compressed energy…
Its range wasn't too far, so it could only protect them from within the shelter's range.
The obelisk was basically this gate's last-resort weapon, capable of unleashing a shock-force pulse that could neutralize anything within its radius.
"Obelisk is charged?" Shane asked.
"Eighty percent…" Kain replied. "We just used it a couple of times now… We're holding it for a real threat."
Shane nodded.
He walked along the barricade, checking the turret placements and the firing angles. Everything was in place. The Mk.Vs were synced to Cloud's targeting system, and the Flame Towers had been refueled…
They did well maintaining it…
Then, the Warden Units were also spread evenly, covering blind spots and fallback zones.
The Survivors were quiet, but alert…
Some of them glanced at Shane as he passed…
Of course, seeing him in full Bio-Armor gave them a boost in morale…
He didn't say anything, but his presence was enough.
Kain followed him as he informed Shane about their battle style and how they were able to deal with the swarm of Infested Zombies…
"The infested types were nasty… They're like Spitter Zombies that explode with stench, so make sure to avoid them after killing one. It's not really a threat for anyone with a high Strength Stat, but it's a bit uncomfortable." Kain reminded.
"Got it… I still have Aura Sentinel with me. How about yours?" Shane asked.
Kain exhaled as he checked his belt pouch.
"We already used them all up," he said. "The Aura Sentinel Tokens. Every last one. We had no choice. The last wave nearly broke through."
Shane nodded and opened his inventory interface and retrieved twenty of his extra tokens with Aura Sentinel Effects.
[ Iron Protection Token ]

He handed them to Kain directly.
"Distribute them to your frontliners," Shane said. "Keep two for yourself. You'll need them if a Lord shows up."
Kain nodded and took the tokens. "Thanks. This'll help."
For the next few minutes, Shane continued inspecting the defense line.
The Warden Units were running diagnostics. The Flame Towers were topped off… The Mk.V Turrets were synced and tracking movement beyond the walls…
Then, the alarm sounded.
The siren was heard all over the shelter…
Soon, Cloud gave them information about the Zombies…
[ Threat Classification: Earth-Type Zombies
Behavior: Subterranean Movement
Notes: Targets are swimming through the ground. All directions. ]
