Chapter 607: Necromancer's Stash
'Of course, he had a boss monster.' Shane grumbled as he saw the creature emerging from the vat of black liquid.
Thud!
The golem slammed a fist down, and the bunker trembled. As soon as it was able to come out of the vat, Shane no longer hesitated and made his move.
He dashed under it as he avoided its attack, ignoring the Necromancer who had suddenly backed off to hide.
He then leaped onto the golem's arm and sprinted upward—
The golem swiped at him, but Shane flipped over its fingers and landed on its shoulder! Shane was truly like a high-tier Zombie at this point.
"Die!"
Shane then drove his fist into its skull, and he did this by exerting some effort. This golem was undeniably tough!
CRACK!
The golem could only take the attack as it couldn't push Shane away… With that move, the golem staggered—but didn't fall.
The Necromancer laughed from behind after seeing the Zombie's futile actions. "You cannot kill what is already dead!"
Shane smiled as he also knew this very well. He was simply testing the toughness of this golem. After all, it was a creation that no one had ever seen before.
'No. But I can break it until it stops moving.' Shane thought.
He then jumped again, but this time, he was aiming for the core in its chest. Though there might be other places for its core, Shane knew that the chest had the highest chance of having it.
Bang! Bang!
The golem roared, swinging wildly—
But Shane would either endure or dodge these blows like a tank.
'It's not in the chest?' Shane thought as he shifted his attention to the golem's head. With this, Shane focused, and as both of his hands clasped together…
He then used his Veiled Steps, followed by a Five-Meter Jump…
As soon as the Golem realized where Shane was, it was already too late.
Shane slammed his hand on the golem's head like a hammer! It was done so fast, and the Golem could only look at Shane!
Even the Necromancer failed to protect his creation.
Boom!
The head, together with its core, shattered.
Thud!
The golem collapsed, and it created a backlash on the Necromancer. It seemed that a part of its life force was connected to the golem. It was unfortunate that he had met Shane, who had Strength and Agility that were beyond his understanding.
Apparently, the golem had a very high defense, and any normal attacks on it wouldn't be effective at all. However, Shane had fought against many Armored Giants and other enemies with high defense before.
With the Title Effect that gives him Armor Penetration and bonus damage against larger opponents, the Golem's defenses were completely useless against him.
Shane then landed on the floor and looked at the Necromancer.
It was already trying to flee toward a hidden door.
'So there's an escape route there.'
Then, Shane used his Phantasm Rush to chase after the Necromancer. There was no way it would escape from him.
In just a few moments, Shane appeared in front of him—
"It's over…"
Shane then ended the Necromancer's life with a single palm strike to its head. The Necromancer tried to cast a spell, but it ultimately failed and he could only look at him in disbelief for a brief moment.
[ You have eliminated a Wild Necromancer. ]
Seeing the message, Shane also confirmed that all the skeletons and other summons of the Necromancers outside had already perished.
Then, Shane stood over the Necromancer's corpse and looted the Necromancer's body, hoping for a decent reward.
[ Do you want to retrieve the loot? ]
"Yes."
[ You have earned 300 Experience Points. ]
[ You have earned 10 Reputation Points. ]
[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x10, Orb of Undead Summoning ( High ) x5 ]
A small, satisfied smirk tugged at his lips.
Not bad.
The Orbs of Undead Summoning alone were rare—high-tier summoning items that could help him summon undead creatures under his command. And the Upgrade Crystals? Those were always useful.
But just as he was about to check his inventory, his system notified him of a problem.
[ WARNING: Cursed Status Detected ]
At the same time, a sharp pain assaulted his chest...
'Curse?' Shane was shocked.
[ Curse of the Fallen Necromancer:
All stats reduced by 40% for the next 48 hours.
Wild Necromancers within a 100-mile radius will sense your presence and attack you.
Undead creatures will instinctively prioritize you as a target. ]
[ Duration: 47:59:59… ]
Shane was shocked as soon as he saw this…
"Damn it."
He clenched his fists, testing his strength. Immediately, he could feel the difference—his muscles were sluggish, and his reflexes had also dulled.
After checking his stats, he confirmed that his 3000 STR and AGI were now temporarily 1800.
Still formidable, but nowhere near his peak.
And worse—other Necromancers would be hunting him.
'Two days. Just need to survive for two days. Not a huge deal.' Shane calmed himself as he realized that he couldn't stay in Travis' shelter, or he would just bring some problem to him.
The New Genesis Shelter was also not a good idea since it was still a new shelter and couldn't afford a war against many Necromancers.
Because of that, he should consider staying in Eclipse Domain or Springriver Manor…
However, Shane also considered a third option. He could just stay outside, welcome all the Necromancers, and get more experience and loot from them.
'Let's think about that later.' Shane mused as his eyes swept across the bunker.
If he was going to be weakened, he wasn't leaving empty-handed. He also had to give some of this loot to Travis anyway.
The Necromancer's lair was indeed a treasure trove of nasty materials, but there were still plenty of precious resources.
Although the place looked old, it was still functional. As a matter of fact, Shane realized that a large part of this bunker was created to become a Cyber-Ghoul Laboratory.
Shane moved swiftly to the dissection tables, where half-finished cybernetic ghouls lay in various states of assembly. Their blade limbs and hydraulic spines were too valuable to leave behind.
Cyber-Ghoul Blade Arms x6
Reinforced Hydraulic Cabling x20 meters
Ghoul Core x4
'Might be sellable or usable for upgrades.' Shane thought as he was still unsure where to use some of these.
However, with his team of experts in his shelter, it wouldn't be surprising if they were able to build something out of this.
Then, he turned his attention to the bubbling black liquid where the golem was created. Shane wasn't foolish enough to touch it, but there were actually some vials of them nearby.
[ Dark Essence Vial x120 ]
'Dark Essence? Is this some kind of Poison? Fuel? Either way, worth taking.'
Then, Shane also took some preserved organs stored in glass cylinders.
'Creepy, but someone might pay for these.' Shane mused as he decided to leave most of these loots to Travis anyway.
As he continued deeper inside the bunker, Shane finally found the Necromancer's personal stash.
There was a locked chest hidden near the escape route where the Necromancer was trying to go.
Thud!
A swift kick shattered the lock. There was no need for his Lock Picking Skill at all.
Inside the chest, Shane found some interesting items.
[ Soulbound Grimoire ( Unidentified ): The Necromancer's personal spellbook. ]
"Oh? I can't see its effects…" Shane muttered as he realized that there was some sort of identification or unsealing that must be done in order to open the Grimoire. It was quite an interesting object.
'This could be too dangerous to use, but maybe the Shelter's researchers will want it.' He thought.
He also found Gold Coins, and as he stored them in his inventory, he confirmed that there were 800 of them. That was quite a lot.
Lastly, Shane found a ring.
[ Ring of Dark Shielding (Rare ): Reduces curse effects by 10%. ]
'Perfect timing.'
Shane slipped the ring onto his finger, feeling a slight easing of the curse's weight.
'Thank you…' Shane thought as he confirmed that the effects of the Curse of the Fallen Necromancer had indeed weakened.
'Is there something I'm missing…' Shane mused as he looked around.
Soon, he noticed an unopened cabinet and decided to look around… Once again, this cabinet was sealed by some sort of magic but with Shane's strength, despite being weakened, he was able to easily overpower it.
Just a kick and the cabinet's door was destroyed.
"Ohh… A weapon stash." Shane muttered as he realized that the cabinet was a weapon storage.
He immediately stored them inside his inventory and checked them.
Reinforced Bone Sword ( Master ) x30
Poison-Forged Bullets x800
Cursed Dagger ( Exceptional ) x150
"That's a lot…" Shane muttered as he realized that the Necromancer was probably planning to equip a huge legion of the Undead Army.
It was a good thing that Shane found this out before it was able to build a huge force.
Now, after clearing the bunker, he had to consider what to do after he transferred some items to Travis.
"Should I just use this chance to eliminate all the Necromancers?"
